Abstract

This community service program aims to apply appropriate technology in the form of a banana rambak automatic draining machine (Spinner) to increase the business productivity of banana rambak business actors in Wonoagung Village, Kasembon District, Malang Regency. The banana rambak automatic oil draining machine (Spinner) was designed because business actors get a problem in the production process, especially in the process of draining business actors still use traditional techniques, namely placed in a container and given a paper base and then aerated. Thus, business actors must take a long time in the process of draining the oil in banana rambak. This can hinder productivity for banana rambak business actors so that banana rambak products have low quality. The application of the spinner machine aims to facilitate and accelerate the business actors belonging to the Kartika Kencana MSME in producing banana rambak. Thus, business actors have quality productivity and can increase productivity, especially banana rambak processing.

Abstract

To enhance system resilience and prevent widespread blackouts from potential disruptions, a structured scheme is needed to reduce the impact of such disturbances. One of PLN's breakthrough initiatives is the activation of Automatic Generation Control (AGC) in the Java-Madura-Bali electricity system. Since the existing Load Frequency Control (LFC) system at Tambak Lorok PLTGU has been inactive for some time, the plant was selected for AGC implementation. This system is managed automatically by the Java Control Center (JCC) Dispatcher through a SCADA control scheme. This study aims to examine the effect of AGC activation on power plant regulation by JCC Dispatchers and to compare the SCADA system performance at Tambak Lorok with that of other power plants. A quantitative method with a descriptive approach was used, relying on SCADA point-to-point testing and real-time load trials with JCC Dispatchers. The results showed that during real-time testing, the Java-Bali grid frequency remained between 50.154 Hz and 49.819 Hz. These findings confirm AGC's effectiveness and support its broader implementation as a reliable solution for maintaining frequency stability and addressing challenges posed by intermittent renewable energy sources.

Abstract

This study evaluates the performance of a pico-hydro system installed on a river with low head and discharge. The system was assessed under no-load and varying load conditions (25–100%). The results indicate that the generator performs according to the initial design, despite some fluctuations in output parameters. Under no-load conditions, the generator maintains a stable output voltage between 12–14 VAC, with a rotational speed of 590–600 RPM, a system frequency of 59–60 Hz, and zero current. The step-up transformer successfully raises the voltage to 220–222 V with high stability, although minor ripple is observed in the output signal. Under load, the generator voltage slightly decreases to 12–14 V as the load increases. The rotational speed also declines (560–590 RPM), affecting frequency stability, which drops from 59 Hz at 25% load to 56 Hz at full load. The current rises proportionally with the load, from 0.10 A at 25% to 0.45 A at 100%. The observed performance drop under load highlights the effect of load on generator speed and overall system output. The primary impacts of the 25–100% load range are evident in generator speed, frequency stability, and waveform quality. Overall, the system performs satisfactorily for low-head pico-hydro applications with a power capacity of up to 100 Watts, suitable for rural street lighting.

Abstract

The Solar Power Plant is hybridized with other generating systems, namely the Wind Power Plant is one of the promising alternative energies in Indonesia. Power plant hybridization is using two or more power plants with different energy sources. Generally combined and supplied with PLN or Genset, in order to obtain synergies that provide economic and technical benefits (reliability of the supply system). The hybrid generator will maximize its use if supported by its load control. Use of efficient electrical energy is balanced with the use of the load released. Hybrid plants will not occur. Based on tests that have been carried out the intensity of sunlight affects the power produced by solar cells. The highest sunlight intensity when testing is during the day at 567 Lux with a voltage value of 21.22 V and current of 0.30 A, while the lowest intensity of sunlight is at 17.00 with the intensity of sunlight 56 Lux with a voltage value of 5.5 V and current 0.15 A

Abstract

This study presents the Novel Navigation Orca Algorithm (NNOA), an innovative optimization algorithm derived from Orca Algorithm (OA). NNOA addresses the unit commitment (UC), a complex issue in power systems that focuses on scheduling generator units to meet power demand while taking into account each generator's limitations, with the goal of lowering operating costs and gas emissions. NNOA exhibits orca hunting behavior through echolocation, utilizing the Doppler effect principle to promote adaptive movement and circumvent local optima, as in contrast to OA's wave-based exploration. The algorithm was evaluated utilizing IEEE 30-bus system data, focused on the Integrated Economic and Emission Dispatch (IEED) objective. The performance was evaluated against OA and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) through convergence analysis over 10 and 30 trials, each consisting of 100 iterations. NNOA decreased the IEED value by 1.33% in regard to OA and 1.51% in regard to PSO. NNOA achieved convergence in 10 iterations, whereas OA required 35, indicating 71.4% faster convergence rate. Wilcoxon rank-sum tests demonstrated significant differences between NNOA, OA, and PSO pairings. NNOA's per-iteration computation time exceeds the time needed by PSO, but it remains economical and profitable. Significantly, NNOA contributes minimizing the fuel consumption and emissions cost, which has a positive environmental impact. It effectively adheres to the required constraints, which include the hourly power demand and generator output limits. Future research is encouraged to apply NNOA to larger-scale power systems and explore its hybridization with PSO to enhance computational efficiency, result consistency, and robustness in practical grid operations.

Abstract

Nowadays, food is one of the things that has been globalized, and everyone from different parts of the world has been able to cook food from other countries through existing online recipes. Based on that, this study developed a translation formula using a neural machine translation (NMT). NMT is a recently proposed approach to machine translation. Unlike the traditional statistical machine translation, the neural machine translation aims at building a single neural network that can be jointly tuned to maximize the translation performance. The models proposed recently for neural machine translation often belong to a family of encoder–decoders. Our experiment led to novel insights and practical advice for building and extending NMT with the applied long short-term memory (LSTM) method to 47 bilingual food recipes between Spanish-English and English-Spanish. LSTM is one of the best machine learning methods for translating languages because it can retain memories for an extended period concurrently, grasp complicated connections between data, and provides highly useful information in deciding translation outcomes. The evaluation for this neural machine translation is to use BLEU. The comparing results show that the translation of recipes from Spanish-English has a better BLEU value of 0.998426 than English-Spanish with a data-sharing of 70%:30% during epoch 1000. Researchers can convert the country's popular cuisine recipes into another language for further research, allowing it to become more widely recognized abroad.
