Abstract

The Primary School Teacher Education Study Programme is responsible for preparing community members who have academic qualifications and competencies as learning agents. This readiness is the main capital for students to do the work of a teacher. In providing education to students, a teacher should have self-efficacy. This research is a quantitative study with an ex-post facto research type. The objectives of this study determine whether there is an effect of attitudes toward science on the efficacy of teaching science subjects. 147 4th-semester students majoring in Elementary School Teacher Education, Yogyakarta State University, were involved. The data collection technique used a questionnaire using a Dimensions of Attitude Towards Science (DAS) Instrument and The Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Instrument (STEBI-B). The study revealed a significant influence between attitudes toward science and the science teaching efficacy of elementary school teacher education students. The results of the analysis revealed that the coefficient of determination is 0.322, which means that 32.2% of variations in science teaching efficacy can be explained by attitude towards science.

Abstract

Perceptions of Implementing Flipped Classroom in Primary Schools during the Covid-19 Pandemic The flipped classroom learning model is a reversal of traditional learning procedures, where what is usually done in class in traditional learning is carried out at home in a flipped classroom. During the current Covid-19 pandemic, many elementary schools are holding lessons using this model. However, the perceptions of teachers, parents, and students have not been well disclosed regarding this learning model. Therefore, this research aims to determine the perceptions of teachers, parents, and students regarding online learning using the flipped classroom model during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method applied in this study uses a qualitative approach. The instrument used in this study was an interview guide that was validated using expert judgment procedures. Interviews were then submitted to the subjects, which included: teachers, parents, and students at SDN Margoyasan (3 teachers, 3 parents, and 2 students), Tukangan Elementary School (2 teachers, 2 parents, and 2 students), SDN Puro Pakualaman (4 teachers, 4 parents and 2 students), and SD Islamiyah Pakualaman (3 teachers, 3 parents, and 2 students). The collected data were analyzed qualitatively to confirm the research findings. The results showed that the perceptions of teachers, parents, and students towards online learning using the flipped classroom method greatly supported the student learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. Even so, apart from finding positive perceptions of the subject, technical obstacles were also found due to the lack of individual facilities owned by students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of student readiness in online class on learning motivation. The population in this study were all 4th semester students with a sample of 80 students who were taken purposively. This research was conducted at Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) in Yogyakarta. The time of this research was carried out for four months, namely from March to June 2021. The method used in this study was quantitative with a survey research design. The results of this study explain that the UAD PGSD Department students are ready to participate in online science learning during this pandemic, but it still has an impact on their enthusiasm or motivation to learn so that improvements are still needed from all parties to create a better online learning atmosphere. Improvements that can be made are in the form of providing online training or workshops for lecturers and students, improving e-learning management, providing education and motivation from lecturers to students regarding the positive side of e-learning, as well as increasing lecturer innovation so that e-learning implemented is more attractive to students. In addition, in the implementation of online-based learning, it is necessary to pay attention to the principles of learning, both for content and other activities prepared for online learning must be able to represent learning in the classroom, so that it becomes a challenge for lecturers in preparing online learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the multicultural-based Hand Puppet Book media in enhancing the tolerance character of elementary school students. A quantitative approach was employed, using pretests and posttests to collect data. The research subjects were fourth-grade students from three schools in Depok District: Percobaan 2 Depok, Deresan, and Caturtunggal 3. Data analysis involved several stages of statistical tests, starting with a normality test to ensure normal distribution, followed by a homogeneity test to check for equality of variances among groups. An independent sample t-test with a significance level of 0.05 was then used to evaluate significant differences between the experimental and control groups. The results indicate that the multicultural-based Hand Puppet Book media is effective in improving the tolerance character of students. This is reflected in the gain scores: 0.08 (low) for the control class, 0.37 (medium) for experimental class I, and 0.39 (medium) for experimental class II. The independent sample t-test showed significant results of 0.041 between the control and experimental class I, and 0.030 between the control and experimental class II (sig < 0.05). Consequently, the multicultural-based Hand Puppet Book media proves to be an effective tool for fostering students' tolerance character.
