Abstract

QR Code technology is used to help record cocoa production forecasts efficiently and accurately, so that farmers can easily update data in real-time. However, in its application, farmers still record production forecasts manually, which often results in discrepancies between forecasts and actual results and takes a long time in the process. This study aims to analyze QR Code technology acceptance among farmers assisted by PT X in the process of forecasting cocoa production in terms of the influence of motivation, farmer characteristics, and the nature of the innovation contained in the technology. This study used a quantitative verification method, supported by the SEM-PLS analysis tool. Samples were taken using a census method from 108 cocoa farmers assisted by PT X  in Bulungan Regency. The results of the study showed that motivation, farmer characteristics, and the nature of innovation have a direct, positive and significant effect on QR code technology acceptance. Furthermore, QR Code technology acceptance is positively and significantly influenced by farmer characteristics through motivation as a mediating variable. However, the nature of innovation does not have a positive and significant effect on QR Code technology acceptance through motivation, and the nature of innovation also does not have a direct, positive and significant effect on motivation. These findings confirm that farmer motivation and characteristics need to be improved to increase QR Code technology acceptance. This will enable production forecasting to generate accurate data to inform cocoa production decisions and ensure the availability of cocoa bean raw materials for processors.

Abstract

This paper aims to identify the actors and factors that create a successful agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. Agricultural development can run sustainably if the actors in it synergize with each other, giving the best contribution to create a successful agriculture. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher has conducted a literature analysis on collaboration between actors contained in the agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem, so as to encourage agricultural activities to become more advanced and sustainable. In addition, this research also presents a model that shows an effective agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. Collaboration is an effort to increase the business and innovation capacity of each actor in the agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. This is an agricultural need for supportive policies, so as to encourage technological innovation and information/knowledge transfer among agricultural actors (farmers, government, agribusiness companies, financial institutions, social communities). This condition is expected to encourage the progress of agriculture as a whole, involving all actors involved in it.

Abstract

Business performance reflects the extent to which a company achieves its objectives. However, in practice, many business actors face various challenges that hinder performance achievement, including Bara Hidroponik. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of financial, social, and human capital in supporting the performance of hydroponic businesses both in financial and non-financial aspects. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design at Bara Hidroponik, with data collected through in depth interviews involving the business owner, operational staff, partners, and consumers, as well as direct observation of operational activities. The findings show that financial capital plays a greater role in financial performance due to the capital structure being dominated by personal funds, which limits expansion. Social capital contributes more to non-financial performance as a wide business network provides access to information and collaboration opportunities. Human capital also plays a more significant role in financial and non-financial performance due to high employee competence, which drives responsive service. Future research is recommended to use a quantitative approach in order to gain a more thorough and comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the food sector play an important role in the national food system, but often face challenges in implementing product quality and safety standards. One strategy to enhance MSMEs' capacity to implement food safety is the launch of the “Safe Food Goes to Campus” (PAGC) program by the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM), which involves students as mentors for food MSMEs in the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices for Processed Foods (GMP-P). This study aims to evaluate the role of students in improving the quality of Kebabfactory products through training, production facility improvements, and documentation guidance. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using NVivo software to systematically map the findings. The results of the study indicate that student involvement has a positive impact on improving business operators' understanding of quality standards, the implementation of good production practices, and increased consumer confidence in the products. However, the study also identified challenges faced by business operators, namely the relatively short duration of the training, which prevented the material from being fully applied across all aspects of production.

Abstract

The vegetable supply deficit in Bandung required an efficient and sustainable solution. Hydroponics was considered a promising approach. This study aimed to analyze the economic, social, and environmental performance of Bara Hidro and to formulate appropriate development strategies. A qualitative case study was applied using interviews with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) indicators, financial ratio analysis, and strategy formulation through IFE, EFE, IE, SWOT, and QSPM matrices. The findings showed an economic performance with a Net Profit Margin of 7.9%. The social aspect was reflected in community involvement through educational activities and job creation. The environmental aspect was indicated by efficient resource utilization and waste management. The analysis identified 17 internal factors consisting of 11 strengths and 6 weaknesses, along with 12 external factors consisting of 9 opportunities and 3 threats. Strategy formulation resulted in seven alternatives, with the highest Total Attractiveness Score of 6.01049 assigned to community development and agribusiness education. Strengthening this direction was expected to sustain the business while expanding positive impacts on society and the environment.

Abstract

Agricultural extension officers are agents of change who play a vital role in transferring technology and knowledge to improve farmers practices. However, the failure rate of traditional extension activities remains quite high in developing countries such as Indonesia. This study examines rice farmers’ perceptions of extension officers’ performance and the impact of extension services on rice productivity in Ciparay District, Bandung Regency. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through questionnaires from 80 rice farmers (40 active participants in the extension program and 40 non-participants). Descriptive statistics and Propensity Score Matching (PSM) were applied. Results show that farmers’ perceptions of extension officers’performance are moderate in responsiveness, responsibility, accountability, and service quality. Participation in extension programs positively impacted rice productivity, with participating farmers achieving 8.12 tons/ha more than non-participants. To enhance effectiveness, the local government should ensure a balanced ratio of extension officers to farmers, particularly in high-density farming villages. Capacity-building programs should be tailored to Ciparay’s agroecological conditions, focusing on water management, adoption of locally suitable high-yield varieties, and integrated pest management. Extension activities should be conducted regularly, aligned with planting seasons, and employ participatory methods such as field schools for hands-on learning. Additionally, improving meeting facilities, providing demonstration tools, and expanding access to digital agricultural information are crucial to strengthening extension services and sustaining productivity gains in Ciparay District.

Abstract

The use of herbicides for weed control is a common practice in rice farming. A variety of factors influences farmers’ decisions to use herbicides. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting farmers' decisions to use herbicides in Jelekong Village, Baleendah District, Bandung Regency. A quantitative research design was employed using a survey technique. The respondents consisted of 115 randomly selected rice farmers. Data were analysed using logistic regression and descriptively through the top two boxes analysis. The results indicate that cost efficiency is the primary factor influencing farmers' decisions to use herbicides. Other significant factors include ease of use, product effectiveness, and the size of the cultivated land. Another key finding is that informal social networks among farmers play a substantial role in the decision-making process, outweighing the influence of extension agents or promotional efforts from herbicide producers. These findings contribute theoretically by reinforcing the importance of socio-economic variables, particularly in farmers' decisions to use herbicides.  In practice, this finding highlights the need for policy interventions that prioritize community-based extension strategies as an effective means of disseminating knowledge about herbicide use. These strategies must be integrated into farmers' social networks and tailored to their socioeconomic conditions and access to information because these factors significantly impact their decisions about herbicide use.
