Abstract

Coffee is one of the leading plantation commodities cultivated in various countries, including Indonesia. Bandung Regency is a significant producer of arabica coffee, having the highest production, largest area, and greatest productivity of arabica coffee in West Java. The vast potential of coffee makes it the main commodity at the Koperasi Produsen Tani Hutan Giri Senang (KPTHGS). This research aims to identify internal and external factors that play a role in business sustainability and formulate alternative development strategies for the arabica coffee agroindustry at KPTHGS using the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) approach. The research employs a qualitative method, gathering data through participatory observation, interviews, scientific journals, and documentation. The analytical tools utilized include the IFE, EFE, SWOT, and QSPM matrices. The research results show that the IFE matrix score is 3.069824 and the EFE matrix score is 3.20652, positioning KPTHGS in cell I of the IE matrix, indicating a growth and build position. The study concludes that the prioritized strategies for execution are maintaining product quality, developing and innovating products, establishing partnership cooperation with farmers or collectors as raw material suppliers, and expanding marketing networks by forming partnerships with cafes or distributors.

Abstract

This paper aims to study the collaboration between actors in the horticultural agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem in West Java. The research method used in this paper is descriptive - qualitative analysis, with the focus of analysis on the quadruple helix collaboration between farming actors, government, universities and the agricultural industry, analyzing the knowledge transfer process carried out among the actors involved, to develop agricultural entrepreneurship. The results explain that strengthening human resources and agricultural institutions are the main aspects in creating a competitive and productive agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. In its implementation, the programs have helped farmers in the development of farming, both in terms of onfarm cultivation and farm management. But on the other hand, the implementation of the program in the field is still limited and not sustainable. To overcome this, synergistic collaboration is needed among the actors involved (government, universities, industry and farming actors). Information disclosure and intense communication can help the synergy process, so that the actors involved can strengthen each other, facilitating the achievement of activity outcomes, namely creating a conducive, productive and competitive agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract

Migration is one of the strategies individuals or households pursue in the face of economic pressures. This paper aims to analyze the portrait of migrant workers in West Java Province. This paper was a literature study from various literature sources and secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Office of Manpower and Transmigration, as well as the Office of Service, Placement and Protection of Indonesia Migrant Workers (BP3MI) of West Java Province. Various things that could be expressed in this paper include the developing global economy, which impacts the sociocultural changes of society. In countries with better economic welfare, the demand for cheap labour to work in the informal sector continues to be formed, and among them is to replace the role of women in the domestic sphere. The decision of women to work as migrant workers was a rational act of individuals taking into account the benefits, costs and risks faced and influenced by various factors, including personal characteristics, values, family environment and also society, networks and also the demand for labour, and global economic conditions. Various data showed demand for Indonesian migrant workers to work in the domestic sector and less need for special skills; therefore, in recent years, portraits of Indonesian migrant workers, especially those from West Java, are still dominated by women working in the informal sector.

Abstract

Indonesia's potential in the halal industry is currently very calculated, because Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population in the world. This role should not only be seen as a mere captive market but must also encourage the growth of the halal industry in Indonesia which is able to compete globally. However, currently the Indonesian halal food and beverage industry is not yet included in the top 10 countries with the best performance in the world for halal food and beverages. Whereas on the other hand, Indonesia actually has a great opportunity to develop halal products in this sector. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of implementing the halal value chain (HVC) ecosystem in the halal food and beverage industry in Indonesia. This research method uses a type of qualitative research with a descriptive analysis approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation and literature study. The results of this study indicate that based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) regarding the Data on the Number of Exports of Halal Food and Beverages for 2022 after the implementation of HVC shows that there has been an increase in the export process and a reduction in the import process; this means that the application of HVC to halal food and beverages in Indonesia is very influential so that it can increase the effectiveness of these halal products even though they are not fully running optimally. The supporting factors for the success of HVC are government support, halal assets, information technology, human resource management, collaborative partnerships, halal certification and halal traceability.

Abstract

Women's international mobility in agriculture-based rural areas represents a socio-economic transformation that reflects evolving gender roles within farming households. This study investigates the historical trajectory and underlying dynamics of female international migration as a livelihood diversification strategy in the Cikalong District, Tasikmalaya Regency, Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with former migrant workers, labor brokers, local officials, and community leaders. Findings indicate that economic hardship was the primary driver of women's mobility. Initially confined to domestic roles, women began assuming the role of primary income earners by migrating abroad, predominantly as domestic workers. The success of early migrants catalyzed further migration, creating a self-reinforcing cycle. Beyond enhancing household economic resilience, this mobility reshaped intra-household gender relations. The study emphasizes the strategic role of women in rural livelihood systems and calls for inclusive, gender-sensitive rural development policies.
