Abstract

Psycholinguistics is related to three things, namely language comprehension, language production, and language acquisition. One of the goals of language acquisition studies is to facilitate the process of language acquisition, including foreign languages, for example Japanese. The dimension of acquiring Japanese is closely related to learning Japanese and mastering it. One of the basic things in mastering Japanese is vocabulary mastery. Vocabulary mastery reflects mastery of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. This study describes an evaluation of students' Japanese vocabulary mastery, as well as the potential for mastery associated with the six dimensions of language acquisition by Klein (1986). The main subjects of this research are all active students of the Japanese study program at Udayana University starting from the 2018 to 2021 class, totaling 258 people. Data were collected by the test method, where students worked on questions about knowledge of Japanese vocabulary which included competency components according to international standards of Japanese language skills, namely on the fulfillment of eight indicators of vocabulary knowledge tested, namely: reading Kanji; write Kanji characters; determine vocabulary according to context; determine synonyms; use words in sentences; determine the correct form of the word; compose sentences; and determine connecting words in a discourse. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The research resulted in an evaluation that the level of students' Japanese language proficiency was 54%. It is necessary to hold reading and writing exercises as a follow-up step. Regarding the potential for students' mastery of Japanese, the propensity and access factors are very important to improve.

Abstract

The objects of the study are two picture storybooks titled "Yuzuchan" and "Yappari Ouchi Ga Ii Na." The research was conducted qualitatively using the documentary data search method. The analysis was carried out with van Dijk's CDA theory and Peirce's Semiotics Theory. The results of the analysis reveal that "Yuzuchan" and "Yappari Ouchi Ga Ii Na" are picture storybooks produced to help children cope with post-earthquake trauma. Disaster education handling the trauma is distributed in Macro Structure, Superstructure, and Microstructure. Although both of them deliver disaster education to overcome the same trauma, because the two authors have different backgrounds, the goals of the post-disaster ideology to be conveyed are different, the themes raised, and the topics raised are different. To convey the ideology of dealing with the trauma of death in Yuzuchan's story, the author raised the theme of loss due to catastrophic death. While at "Yappari Ouchi Ga Ii Na", from the ideology of disaster education facing trauma healing the ideology of earthquake trauma. The ideology of earthquake trauma handling is reflected in the macro and micro structures in both picture story discourses. The author uses diction and atmosphere to depict the post-earthquake trauma experienced by the characters. Meanwhile, disaster education in the form of trauma handling is conveyed through schematic elements, settings, presuppositions, diction, sentence patterns, and rhetoric in the stories. This research aims to analyze the dilemma of population problems which can act as an obstacle or driver of development. In this study, demographic factors such as population growth, population distribution, and socio-economic dynamics are evaluated to understand their impact on the development process. Through qualitative methods, this research collects and analyzes secondary data from various sources, including population reports, development studies, and academic literature. The research results show that population conditions can become an obstacle when population growth is not balanced with infrastructure and resource capacity. However, with proper management, population can also be a driver of development through optimizing the workforce and increasing productivity. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of adaptive and data-based policy strategies to overcome population dilemmas in the context of sustainable development.

Abstract

The story of Ubasute is an allegory presented in fiction regarding the neglect of the elderly in Japanese society. A modern variation of this story is shown in the film Plan 75, which focuses on a euthanasia program for seniors aged 75 to reduce the country's economic burden. This article examines the Ubasute narrative presented in the film Plan 75 from ageism perspective. Research data collection was carried out using the listening and note-taking methods. The descriptive analysis method is used at the data analysis stage. The results of data analysis are presented using descriptive methods. The results of the study show that the Ubasute narrative in the film Plan 75 is presented as follows: 1) Elderly people feel confused about their position in society; 2) The elderly feel embarrassed because they are a burden on their family and society; and 3) The elderly need the support of the younger generation. The Ubasute narrative shown in Plan 75 can be a medium to combat ageism, towards the elderly. The Plan 75 makes us rethink the position of the elderly in society. The elderly are not "things" whose value decreases when their productivity decreases.

Abstract

High cholesterol or hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disorders such as coronary heart disease. Managing high cholesterol can involve lifestyle changes and pharmacological treatment, but many people still lack an understanding of the importance of effective cholesterol management. This Community Service activity aims to raise awareness and knowledge about cholesterol, including risk factors, health impacts, and management strategies through community-based health education programs. The methods of this activity include counseling, open discussions, and health screenings. This community service program was conducted in Pekon Gadingrejo Utara, Gadingrejo District, Pringsewu Regency, with a target specifically aimed at the elderly. The results of this activity showed an increase in public understanding of hyperlipidemia, evidenced by an increase in post-test scores from the pre-test (42,6%). In health screenings with 50 participants, 90% were found to have high cholesterol. This activity was deemed effective in increasing community knowledge and identifying the prevalence of hyperlipidemia among the local elderly population.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors affecting palm oil exports in Indonesia, focusing on the variables of domestic palm oil production, domestic consumption, international prices, and currency exchange rates. Using secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Indonesian Palm Oil Company Association (GPKI) in the 2014-2023 period, this study uses a multiple linear regression analysis method. The results show that domestic palm oil production, international prices, and currency exchange rates have a significant influence on Indonesia's palm oil export volume. However, domestic consumption did not have a significant effect on exports. This research contributes to the development of international trade theory and provides recommendations for government policies in increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil exports.
