Abstract

The goal of this research is to explain the word formation, prefix, of the Mongondow language. The method used in this study is a taxonomic descriptive method, namely exposure by classifying language elements according to hierarchical relationships. The results of the research show word formation patterns are done by adding prefixes, infixes, suffixes, confixes, and clitics. In this pattern of word formation, a morphophonemic process occurs, resulting in new forms like phoneme modifications or deletions. Reduplication and compounding procedures can also result in word formation patterns. As a result of forming words with these patterns a new class of words is formed. The focus of this research is to reveal the prefix in Mongondow Language. The result show there are Prefix {moN-}, {mo-}, {no-},{poN-}, {ko-} ,{mopo-}, {nopo-}, {popo-}, {moko-}, {noko-}, {poko-}, {mogi- , {nogi-}, {pogi-}, {mojiN-}, {pongiN-}, {moki-} {poki-}, {moliN}, {noliN-}, {moi-}, {noi-}, {monoN-}, {nonoN-}, {mopoko-}, {nopoko-}, {mopopo-}, {mopoko}, {poro-} , {pinoro-}, {pinoro-}, {pino-}, {pinopo-}, {poR-}, {toR}, {kinoR-} iand those prefixes depict process with root morphemes functions and  form specific categorical word class

Abstract

Abstract

In response to the pedagogical shift toward more authentic and student-centered learning in higher education, this study investigates the integration of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in teaching academic writing to English education students in Indonesia. While PjBL has been recognized for fostering collaboration and critical thinking, limited research has explored how students behaviorally, emotionally, and cognitively respond to its implementation in writing instruction. Addressing this gap, a qualitative case study was conducted involving twenty university students who participated in a semester-long PjBL-based writing course. Drawing on data from observations, interviews, and document analysis involving twenty English education students, this study reveals three key findings. Behaviorally, students demonstrated active participation, leadership, and collaborative responsibility, supported by structured peer roles and group accountability mechanisms, although a few exhibited passive involvements due to unequal workload distribution. Emotionally, most students experienced enthusiasm and a sense of accomplishment, particularly during topic selection and final submission, but some expressed anxiety related to public presentation and frustration over imbalanced team contributions. Cognitively, students showed marked improvements in brainstorming, organizing arguments, and revising drafts, guided by visual tools, feedback, and reflective journaling, which enhanced their critical thinking and writing cohesion. These findings highlight PjBL as a transformative pedagogy that fosters technical skills, autonomy, emotional resilience, and cognitive engagement. By offering an integrated view of students’ experiences, the study advocates for strategies that support collaboration, emotional support, and metacognitive awareness in academic writing, with broader implications for advancing student-centered learning in higher education.

Abstract

This study discusses the similarities and differences between persona pronouns in the regional languages of Mongondow and Indonesian in terms of form, function, and meaning, as well as their implications on the learning of regional languages in schools in Bolaang Mongondow Regency. The method used was a contrastive analysis with a qualitative descriptive approach, which involved observation and interviews with 30 native bilingual speakers of Mongondow and Indonesian. The results show that persona pronouns in both languages have fundamental morphological similarities and syntactic functions, but the pragmatic context in Mongondow is richer and reflects local social and cultural values. The research emphasizes the importance of understanding these differences and similarities as the basis for the development of effective local content teaching materials to support the preservation of regional languages. In addition, the results of the research are expected to encourage the integration of local content of the Mongondow language in competency-based curricula in schools and motivate the younger generation to preserve regional languages. This study also paves the way for further research to expand other linguistic aspects for the sustainable preservation of local culture. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of regional language learning based on empirical data while strengthening local and national cultural identity
