Abstract

Critical thinking skills are currently very important for students to have. Critical thinking skills are one of the four main skills in the 21st century, namely communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of critical thinking skills on the ability to solve learning problems of elementary school students in science and science learning. This research method is a quantitative experiment using a quantitative research approach. The population of this study is all class IV students totaling 20 students and the sample uses a probability sampling technique with random sample sampling. The instruments used in this study used an essay test of critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills as many as 20 questions. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression. The results of the study show that grade IV elementary school students have been able to apply critical thinking skills to students' ability to solve learning problems in science and science learning, this is evident from students' ability to understand and analyze the root cause of problems, find solutions in depth, filter out true and false information, and make decisions based on logic and evidence. Based on the hypothesis test using a simple linear regression equation test, a tcal value of 2,450 > a table of 1,734 was obtained, and it can be concluded that critical thinking ability has a significant effect on problem-solving ability.

Abstract

The low activity of students in learning Natural and Social Sciences, particularly in Cultural Heritage materials, remains a common problem in elementary schools. Passive learning has been identified as one of the main factors limiting student engagement. This study aims to improve the activeness of grade V students at an elementary school in Malang City through the application of the Project-Based Learning model in Cultural Heritage materials. The research employed classroom action research using the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The study involved 28 students in grade V. Data were collected through observation, interviews, formative tests, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results indicated that the application of the Project-Based Learning model increased student activity, with activity percentages rising from 42.8 percent in the pre-cycle stage to 78.5 percent in the first cycle, and reaching 91 percent in the second cycle. These findings demonstrate that the Project-Based Learning model can effectively enhance students’ engagement in science learning, particularly in contextual materials such as Cultural Heritage, while supporting the optimization of project-based learning implementation at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Critical and collaborative thinking skills are essential 21st-century competencies for learners in facing global challenges. Unfortunately, the learning of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in elementary schools is still dominated by the rote approach, without encouraging understanding of the meaning of local cultural values. This research aims to apply the Collaborative Cultural Map model to improve the critical and collaborative thinking skills of grade IV students. The research uses the Kemmis and McTaggart model Class Action Research (PTK) approach which was carried out in two cycles at SD Negeri X Malang in the even semester of 2024/2025, with 27 students. Data was collected through observation, pre-post tests, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results showed an increase in students' learning completeness from 74.07% in the pre-cycle to 88.89% in the first cycle, and reached 100% in the second cycle, with an average final score of 93.33. In addition to academic improvement, this model encourages active participation, effective communication, and better social interaction in the classroom. These findings prove that collaborative learning based on local culture effectively strengthens 21st century skills and makes an innovative contribution to the development of more contextual science learning models in primary schools.

Abstract

Petungsewu Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency is one of the villages where most of the people are incensed craftsmen, but the incense produced is semi-finished incense or raw incense. The problem faced by incense craftsmen is that the selling price of semi-finished incense tends to decline from year to year, the limited bamboo raw material even has to be imported from other areas, only producing semi-finished incense (raw). The aim of the activity is to increase the value added of incense products and increase people's income by selling incense products with brand packaging. The method of implementing the activity is to diversify the product by training and mentoring in making incense, product packaging training and quality control, online marketing training, utilizing incense making technology. As a result of community service activities, the community is able to produce fragrant incense packaged and branded and has been sold. Besides that, by utilizing incense bamboo making technology, the production capacity of incense biting production increased, the quality of the bamboo produced was more uniform, so the problem of limited incense material could be overcome.

Abstract

The use of learning media that is not varied and interactive in elementary schools leads to low interest, focus, and engagement among students in the learning process. One digital learning medium that facilitates this process is Nearpod, and when used in conjunction with problem based learning (PBL), its usefulness increases. The purpose of this study is to develop Nearpod learning media for fifth grade elementary school students based on PBL (Problem-Based Learning) with content on natural resources, as well as to conduct feasibility and practicality tests. The ADDIE development model was used as the method. Data collection tools included questionnaires for teacher and student feedback, as well as validation from media, content, and language experts. Based on the research findings, the media validation scored 90%, content validation scored 97.5%, and language validation reached 92.85%. The research results indicate that the PBL based Nearpod media is highly feasible for use. As shown by the practical test results, which indicated a score of 99% from students and 97.91% from teachers, the PBL based Nearpod media is also considered highly practical. It is recommended that teachers continue to develop innovations in learning media, and further research can be conducted for comparison with other media in different learning contexts.
