Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of implementation of learning model of active learning type Firing Line to science learning result of grade VII SMPN 2 Padang on material classification of living creatures and matter. This research is based on problems at SMPN 2 Padang which is still dominated by teacher-centered learning so that the students knowledge is limited to the material was given by the teacher, so that students get bored faster during classroom learning process. This research was categorized into experimental research using Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design. The sample of this research was chosen by purposive sampling method. The subjects of this research are two different classes; the first class is VII4 as the experimental class using learning model of active learning type Firing Line andVII5 as the control class using conventional of learning. Data of students learning outcomes were analyzed by using t-test analysis. The result of the research are according to the learning outcomes which is using t-test it showed that the learning outcomes of experimental group is better than control group with thitung(4,42) ˃ ttabel(1,67) which means the research hypothesis is accepted and student activities show that learning process using the learning model of Active Learning is better with percentage 77% than the conventional of learning with percentage 75%.

Abstract

Evolution as a subject in lecture is a material that has many concepts, theoretical, and hard to understand. Then it impacts some misconception on students. Misconception is a situation where the concept that students’ get is different from what experts' mean. The purpose of this research is to know the evaluations' concepts that be misconception by biology' students of Padang state University who has been learning evolution subject and to know the percentage of misconception which had been happened. This research is a desriptive study. Subject of this research is the students of biology of Padang state University who has been learning evolution in second semester in academic year 2016/2017. Sample of this research is all subject that still active in college. Variable of this research is students' misconception toward concpets in evolution material. Instrument of this research is multiple choice test that be equipped with criteria of certainty of response index (CRI) have the form of numeral 1, 2 and 3 which be choosed based on level of conviction of the answer. Analysis of the data used quantitative with count percentage of students have misconception that is students who are choosen flase answer ans index 3 in CRI. Based on data analysis indicate students of biology of Padang University did misconception in evolution material after learning evolution subject with high percentage be found in basic material about definition and the scope of evolution is 39.52% and the low percentage of misconception be found in basic material about Darwin's evolution is 15.86%.

Abstract

Based on the observation, it was found that the learning process did not motivate the students. Media that teachers use when the learning process is also less interest and motivation of learners. In addition, the media has not provided a clear picture for learners in relating it in everyday life. This study aims to develop a contextually oriented contextual learning medium for a valid and practical X class. This research is a development study. This learning medium was developed using three stages of 4D models. Data obtained from the validation and practicalization. Media that has been designed, validated by three experts, then tested to a teacher and 30 students of class X in SMA Negeri 12 Padang to know the level to the practitioner. The result of the research shows that the media developed in the biology learning oriented contextual approach on the material of kingdom Animalia for students of class X is stated very valid and very practical.

Abstract

Kurikulum 2013 emphasizes science and technology, student centered learning patterns and principles of self-construction to learners. SMA Negeri 12 Padang as the school organizer of Kurikulum 2013 when observation is found non-conformity such as learning conducted is teacher centered, construction of knowledge is less conceptualized in the students. This research is an experimental research with Non-Equivalent Posttest Group Only Design. The study population is the students of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 12 Padang 2017/2018 academic year which spread into four classes. Sampling research using purposive sampling. The results were selected class XI MIA 3 as experimental class and class XI MIA 1 as a control class. The result of t test is known that the knowledge competence of tcount > ttable (2,67 > 1,67), attitude competence tcount > ttable (learning activity: 4,67 > 1,67 and practicum activity: 2,15 > 1,67) , then competence of skill tcount > ttable (2,07 > 1,67). It is known that the hypothesis is accepted. So it can be concluded that the implementation of constructivism approach through Learning Cycle 5E learning model can improve students' learning competence of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 12 Padang.

Abstract

Biology is one of the branches of IPA. Biology as one of science subjects has different principles with other science subjects. It has many concepts contained in biology. One of the complex bilogical materials contained in biology and difficult to understand by learners's the material about classification of living things. In addition, the material classification of living things commonly used terms that difficult to understand by learners. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the concepts in the material classification of living things that have not been or have been understood by students. This study aims to analyze the understanding of the concept of classification of living things in class VII students in SMPN 8 Padang. The type of this research is descriptive research. The sample was taken by simple random sampling technique, with 48 students. The research was conducted by giving multiple choice test questions with open reasoning. Data were analyzed quantitatively. The result of the research showed that the students of class VII in SMPN 8 Padang experienced the level of understanding of the concept on the low category. Low comprehension of concepts includes the concepts of the characteristics of living things 41.66%; basic classification of living creatures 25.00%; 12.50% determination key concepts; monera and protista groups 16.93%; features of Kingdom Fungi 21.88%; features of Kingdom Plantae 20.83%; the difference between moss, ferns and seed plants 18.23%; the features of Kingdom Animalia 9.38% and the difference between Vertebrate and Invertebrate animals 16.02%.

Abstract

Multiple intelligences are the development of intelligence of the brain or intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional intelligence or emotional quotient (EQ), and spiritual intelligence or Spiritual Quotient (SQ). The intelligence consists of nine levels of intelligence is known as the Multiple Intelligences (MI) which includes: linguistic intelligence, mathematical-logical intelligence, visual spatial intelligence, physical-kinesthetic intelligence, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, naturalist intelligence, and existential lntelligence. This theory shows that there is no human activity that uses only one intelligence, but uses all intelligence that exists in humans. Intelligence is a single talent that students use in situations of solving any problem. Every student has a different intelligence. This is because there are several factors that influence it, namely the hereditary factor, interest factor, formation factor, maturity factor, and freedom factor. This research are descriptive study which aims to reveal the level of MI of social sciences and linguistcs student grade X crossing biology interest at SMAN 1V Koto KampungDalam. Results of the study, it was faund that the most dominant intelligence in social science students is naturalist intelligence. In the linguistics scienscestudents, the most dominant intelligence is existential intelligence.
