Abstract

Currently, motorcycles are a means of transportation that is widely used in Indonesia and even motorcycles are used as a primary need for a company or individual. This is because the price of motorcycles is relatively cheap for most people and also fuel and operational costs are quite affordable. In order for the vehicle to work properly, good components are needed, one of the components is the shaft on the wheels of the vehicle. This shaft serves to support the load of the vehicle itself as well as loads from outside such as, humans or cargo on a motorcycle. The purpose of this study is to find out the diameter that must be used on the front wheel axle of the yamah new jupiter mx 135cc motor. the method used is experimentation. The results of this study obtained the maximum normal voltage value on the shaft with a value of 525 Mpa, a security factor of 1.4, a permissible nprmal voltage of 410.7 Mpa and a shaft diameter used of 11 mm.

Abstract

Developments in manufacturing technology companies are currently growing rapidly, especially industries with large-scale production in a very short time. By using a computer, it can create a system where the production process can be carried out quickly and with quality. This technology is embedded in machine tools that are usually used for mass production, namely CNC (Computer Numeric Control). In addition, using a CNC machine is more efficient than conventional machines because it can save time, be more accurate, flexible and efficient. Therefore, many companies are using this CNC machine in the modern era [3]. One of the companies engaged in this machining is PT. XYZ, where one of its products is produced using a CNC machine, namely the manufacture of a jig magazine. After analyzing the jig magazine manufacture on the CNC – 450 machine, the Jig and Fixture Design that was made can be used as a tool. As well as in the production of making Jig Magazine products, Jig and Fixture designs can provide a decrease in total time, product manufacture, product quality improvement, productivity improvement and cost savings, Feeding speed in the initial process is 1000 mm/min, The slope of the Support bar guide is 3, 18o, The obtained gripping force is 2304.03N

Abstract

Extracurricular activities provide opportunities for students to develop and express their abilities according to their interests when school time is over. Mahogany et. Al. (2005) argue that extracurricular activities are defined as organized activities, adult supervision, emphasizing skill development, and promoting positive student development. Meanwhile, Nelson et. Al. (2002) assumed in their study that extracurricular activities are experiences outside the classroom. Extracurricular activities include non-formal curriculum, volunteer work, and student groups, as well as student clubs and initiatives outside of school. This can occur inside and outside school buildings, as well as after and during school hours (Bîrzéa et al., 2004). In the end, extracurricular activities are non-formal curriculum activities held outside school hours which aim to support and develop students' abilities in certain fields and to build their self-confidence.

Abstract

In this study, glass fiber and palm fiber reinforced composite materials were used with a honeycomb structure, especially a sandwich. The use of this composite material was chosen because it is environmentally friendly and can also be recycled. The use of glass fiber and fiber fiber reinforced composite materials was chosen because it is a lightweight material and also palm fiber is an abundant material and has not been utilized optimally, strong and also cheap. Material testing is done without knowing the compressive strength of the composite material itself. From the test data obtained, it shows the ability to build a honeycomb construction with the average load results being 16,979 N, 11,148 N, 10,948 N. Solidworks is a simulation software used in this study to be used to compare the maximum capacity of stress, strain and displacement results. material testing with simulation results obtained shows that the critical area for stress in each specimen is 25.92 MPa, 17.01 MPa and 16.71 Mpa

Abstract

In this study, the sandwich structure is known as a core attached to two rigid and strong shells; The core distributes the load from one shell to another. While the skin contributes to bending and turgidity, adhesives that carry shear and axial loads to the core material are used as bonding agents. As a binder in this composite used polyester resin. The honeycomb sandwich panels made are 50mm high and 50mm wide, while the panel lengths are made in three variations, namely with honeycomb lengths of 50mm, 75mm and 100mm. This honeycomb sandwich panel was tested by bending test to obtain flexural strength and stiffness values. Of the three panels that were made identically for each honeycomb core height, the highest flexural strength and stiffness figures were obtained in the panel with a honeycomb core height of 50mm, namely with a flexural strength number of 5.08kg/mm2 and a stiffness value of 12.74kg/mm.

Abstract

One of the uses of renewable energy that currently has great potential to be developed is wind energy. This energy is clean energy and in its production process does not pollute the environment. The development of wind energy in Indonesia for now is still relatively low. One of the reasons is that the average wind speed in Indonesia is classified as low wind speed, which ranges from 3 m/s to 5 m/s, making it difficult to generate electricity on a large scale. However, the wind potential in Indonesia is available almost all year round, making it possible to develop small-scale power generation systems

Abstract

One of the main components in the rice husk grinding machine is the frame. The frame is the most important fundamental part, especially for use in machinery, because the function of the frame is as a support for the components themselves, and is able to withstand axial, normal and moment forces to maintain stability in the machine. The strength of the frame depends on the shape or type of construction which is able to withstand torsional loading from the engine and also withstand the shock that is given when the engine moves. So the purpose of this study is to find out how to simulate the loading of the frame on a rice husk grinding machine using SolidWorks software, and to know the comparison of theoretical calculations and simulations for 3 material variations on the frame of a rice husk grinding machine in a static state. The method used is the Finite Element Method (MEH), MEH with software can determine the loading points. From this test, researchers can find out which points have a minimum load, a medium load, and a maximum load. The results of the analysis provide the safety value of original and processed materials, changes in materials can be concluded which material is more ideal. The results of this study are that among AISI 1010, ASTM A36, and AISI 1045 materials, the best material is AISI 1045 material because it has the greatest safety factor value of 12.15.

Abstract

In the manufacture of wind turbines, there are several parameters that are taken into account, namely the wind speed in the area to be installed. The wind speed in Indonesia ranges from 3m/s – 11m/s, so it is quite difficult to implement a macro-scale wind turbine and the facilities are still inadequate. So this design is a design to make a micro-scale wind turbine that adapts to the characteristics of wind speed in Indonesia. In this design, a blade with the Inverse Tapper type is made which is a blade type with an enlarged shape to the end to get a large sweep at the end of the blade and produce a lift force that is greater than the drag force on the blade so that it can rotate the blade. In the design of this blade, material changes are also made, generally the material used in the blade is made of wood, fiber, and aluminum. In this design, a material made of styrofoam is used, this is to make the mass of the blade lighter and make the blade able to rotate at the smallest wind speed. In this design, the maximum power obtained is 553 watts at 668 rounds of blade rotations . Keywords : Airfoil, Inverse Blade, Cl/Cd, Styrofoam.

Abstract

The development of science and technology is experiencing very rapid growth. Since the birth of the industrial revolution with the invention of steam engines, otto engines and human diesel engines have been competing to conduct research to find technology that aims to facilitate daily human activities, without exception, technological developments in the automotive field have been progressing very rapidly. The purpose of this study is to determine the magnitude of the braking force, the magnitude of the pressure force of the brake pads and the life of the disc brake pads at a certain codition. Based on the results of the calculations that have been carried out, the force transmitted in each braking process is 62,911 Kgf, the piston pressing force is 265,666 Kgf and the piston pressure force is 21 Kgf. Then for the brake pad age, which is 994.28 hours.

Abstract

Pipes are tools for flowing fluids. In the mining sector, energy makes a major contribution to the use of pipes. ASTM A106 steel is a low carbon steel pipe used for high temperature applications (up to 750 degrees F). This pipe is able to withstand high temperatures and high pressures, so it is widely used in the oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and ship building industries. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the pressure of the Hydrostatic test on ASTM A106 steel pipe welding joints with a current of 90 A and variations in the pressure of the Hydrostatic test of 450 Psi, 1150 Psi and 2225 Psi. The results showed that there were imperfect melting defects, excessive root penetration, porosity, and root concavity. For the Hydrostatic test with pressure variations of 450 Psi, 1150 Psi and 2250 psi for 3 pipes, the results showed that there were no leaks in the three pipes. 405.33 and the lowest uji tarik is found in spesimens that have been subjected to a Hydrostatic test with a pressure of 450 Psi with a uji tarik of only 367.01 .
