Abstract

The background of this article focuses on Indonesia's challenges in building a strong nationhood amidst its ethnic, religious and cultural diversity. Psalm 133:1-3, which teaches the importance of living together in harmony and peace, offers relevant insights for nurturing unity in Indonesia. The purpose of this article is to explore the relevance of Psalm 133:1-3 in the context of Indonesian nationhood and how a lithic-grammatical perspective can be used to build a harmonious society. The method used is a literary-grammatical approach to analyze the text of Psalm 133:1-3, paying attention to the structure of the Hebrew language and its implications in social and national life. The results found show that the principle of living together in peace taught in the Psalms can be applied in the Indonesian national context, reminding the importance of appreciating diversity and maintaining unity. The contribution of this article is to provide a new perspective in understanding the biblical text as a moral source for building a strong, peaceful and sustainable nationhood in Indonesia, as well as exploring the potential of the biblical message in nurturing diversity in society.

Abstract

The First Epistle of Peter was written in the context of the suffering of believers in Asia Minor who faced pressure and persecution because of their faith. This study aims to examine the pastoral messages in 1 Peter 1:3–12 as Peter's strategy in strengthening the congregation and exploring its implications for Christian counseling ministry today, especially for believers who are suffering. Using bibliographic study and biblical exegesis methods, this study analyzes the theological and pastoral meaning of the text, viewed from historical, literary, and contextual perspectives. The results of the study show that Peter emphasizes three main points: the certainty of salvation in Christ, the hope of eternal life, and Christ's example in facing suffering. Peter's pastoral message can be the basis for supportive Christian counseling, which is to help believers focus on Christ, maintain hope, and build steadfast faith so that they will not waver even when under pressure in life. Thus, 1 Peter is relevant as a guide for pastoral counseling that strengthens faith in the midst of suffering. Surat 1 Petrus ditulis dalam konteks penderitaan orang percaya di Asia Kecil yang menghadapi tekanan dan penganiayaan karena iman. Penelitian ini bertujuan menelaah pesan-pesan pastoral dalam 1 Petrus 1:3–12 sebagai strategi Petrus dalam menguatkan jemaat dan menggali implikasinya bagi pelayanan konseling Kristen masa kini, khususnya bagi orang percaya yang mengalami penderitaan. Dengan menggunakan metode studi pustaka dan eksegesis teks Alkitab, penelitian ini menganalisis makna teologis dan pastoral dari teks tersebut, dilihat dari latar historis, literer, dan kontekstual. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Petrus menekankan tiga hal utama: kepastian keselamatan dalam Kristus, pengharapan hidup yang kekal, serta keteladanan Kristus dalam menghadapi penderitaan. Implikasi praktisnya, pesan pastoral Petrus dapat menjadi dasar pelayanan konseling Kristen yang suportif, yakni menolong orang percaya mengarahkan pandangannya pada Kristus, memelihara pengharapan, dan membangun keteguhan iman agar tidak goyah sekalipun berada dalam tekanan hidup. Dengan demikian, surat 1 Petrus relevan sebagai pedoman konseling pastoral yang mengokohkan iman di tengah penderitaan.
