Abstract

Offshore exploration and exploitation are activities that can impact the pollution of coastal area. East Tanjung Jabung coastal area is one of area that is susceptive of oil spill contamination since this area is an underwater pipeline path. Oil spill could damage coastal ecosystem such as mangrove and seagrass which are nutrient source, feeding, spawning and nursery ground for sea organism. The aim of this research is to rank environmental sensitivity index and to map Environmental sensitivity index as a guidance to take steps and handle oil spill through the value of environmental sensitivity index indicator. East Tanjung Jabung coast environmental sensitivity index is categorized high (sensitive – very sensitive). All mud substrate area in division 1,2, and 3 are in maximum sensitivity state, very sensitive.

Abstract

Kecamatan Betara merupakan sentral produksi kopi di Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat. Usahatani Kopi liberika menjadi mata pencaharian masyarakat dan telah memiliki sertifikat indikasi geografis (IG) yang harus dipertahankan. Perkembangan produksi dan harga kopi yang fluktuatif berdampak kepada keberlanjutan usahatani kopi liberika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui status keberlanjutan usahatani kopi liberika di Kecamatan Betara, Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat serta alternatif pengembangannya. Berdasarkan metode cluster sampling dan sensus, penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara dengan pihak terkait dalam pengambilan data. Dimensi ekologi, ekonomi, sosial budaya, teknologi dan kelembagaan dianalisis menggunakan program Rap-Coffee yang merupakan modifikasi dari program Rapfish. Berdasarkan simulasi program Rap-Coffee untuk kelima dimensi keberlanjutan, indeks keberlanjutan usahatani kopi liberika Kecamatan Betara adalah 63,83 yang berarti cukup berkelanjutan. Indeks keberlanjutan ini dapat ditingkatkan dengan memperbaiki indikator sensitif. Sebaiknya untuk mengembangkan usahatani kopi liberika dalam perencanaan kebijakan lebih mengutamakan atau memprioritaskan pada peningkatan indikator/atribut yang memiliki sensitivitas tinggi pada masing-masing dimensi. Alternatif pengembangan untuk memperbaiki kondisi tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan e-klaster.

Abstract

This study aims to describe farming activities kale in District Paal Merah city of Jambi, knowing sustainability index farm kale from the dimensions of the ecological, economic and social, as well as to determine the factors that affect adoption of sustainable farming kale in District Paal Merah city of Jambi. Methods of data analysis using descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis using MDS (Multi Dimension Scale) doped with Rapfish application. In addition, to determine the factors that affect the linear regression. The result showed that: (1) The results of the analysis of vegetable farming income in the study area showed that vegetable farming that farmers provide benefits for farmers. The average farmer's income earned in the District of Paal Red kale Rp. 1.231.125,67;-, with the cost of Rp. Rp. 910.728,50;- and the reception received by farmers Rp 2.141.854,17;-. (2) The results of the analysis of the value of sustainable farming in the district kale Red Paal at 61.42. The figure shows the level of integration of sustainability kale farm in the District of Red Paal quite sustainability. With the analysis of the ecological dimensions of sustainability index of 71.27%, 57.10% of the economic dimension and the social dimension of 55.88%. (3) Based on the results of t-test analysis showed that, the value of sustainable farming in the district kale Red Paal farmers are affected by age. When viewed from the significance value then age watercress farmers have significant influence with age farmers. While the experience factor, farmers' income and education did not significantly affect the farmers to adopt sustainable farming values kale. Abstract

Limbah industri tahu dapat menimbulkan pencemaran yang cukup berat karena mengandung polutan organik yang cukup tinggi, jika langsung dibuang ke badan air, maka akan menurunkan daya dukung lingkungan. Sehingga industri tahu memerlukan suatu pengolahan limbah yang bertujuan untuk mengurangi resiko beban pencemaran yang ada. Metode yang dapat diterapkan yaitu dengan memanfaatkan media tumbuhan yang merupakan salah satu metode yang cukup sederhana dan ramah lingkungan. Adapun jenis tumbuhan yang digunakan yaitu Hydrilla verticillata yang merupakan tanaman air. Pengolahan limbah menggunakan tanaman sebagai media penyerap limbah disebut juga dengan metode biofiltrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Hydrilla verticillata terhadap parameter BOD, COD, dan pH. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menentukan perlakuan terbaik yang memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap kadar BOD, COD, dan pH pada limbah cair tahu. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan dua faktor, yaitu : perbedaan jumlah tanam Hydrilla verticillata dan perbedaan konsentrasi limbah cair tahu. Sampel yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah limbah cair industri tahu yang berlokasi di Bagan Pete Kecamatan Alam Barajo. Sedangkan tanaman yang digunakan yaitu Hydrilla verticillata yang diambil di kawasan muaro sebo, kabupaten Muaro jambi. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel adalah teknik purposive sampling,. Hasil Penelitian pemberian perlakuan Hydrilla verticillata dengan konsentrasi limbah cair tahu mempengaruhi karakteristik limbah cair tahu yang ditunjukkan pada pengamatan BOD, COD, dan pH. Secara umum perlakuan terbaik yaitu pada perlakuan P1K1 (Hydrilla 200g ; 1% konsentrasi limbah tahu) dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya, dengan kandungan BOD dan COD terendah serta pH bersifat netral.

Abstract

This research was conducted at experimental plot, Faculty of Agriculture Riua University from September 2007 to Januari 2008. This research aimed to know the influence of mycoriza application, type of phosphate, and interaction of both factor, and the best mycoriza dosage and phosphate type toward the growth of Jathropa curcas seed. This research was conducted by Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisted of 2 factor with 3 replication. The first factor was mycoriza application, and second factor was the application of some phosphate sources. The result of Various investigation Analysis was tested by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, dry weight, root protrude ratio, and percentage of mycoriza. It may be concluded from the research that the interaction between natural phosphate of Huinan China with 10 g mycoriza/polybag improves the growth of Jathropa curcas seed.

Abstract

The research objective was to evaluate the effect of leguminosa biomass and NPK fertilizer with various doses on the growth of cocoa plant. Research was conducted in the experimental Garden of Riau University, Pekanbaru starting on April 2005 until December 2005. The sampling that had been applied Complete Random Sampling (RAL) factorial. First factor was Biomass which consist of Bengkuang biomass 40 g/polybag (B1) and Biomass sentro 40 g/polybag (B2). Second factor was pearl NPK fertilizer with doses of 15:15:15; those factor were P0: 0 g/polybag, P1: 2 g/polybag, P3: 4 g/polybag, P4: 6 g/polybag. Parameter observed were the characteristic of soil chemistry and biology, seed tall, seed diameter and dry weight. Result of observation show that bengkuang cultivation and sentro could repair the characteristic of soil chemistry. Interaction did not have a significant effect on crop tall, seed diameter and seed dry weight. Combination treatment of bengkuang biomass and sentro and also NPK fertilizer had a significant effect on seed tall crop diameter and seed dry weight, but did not have a significant effect on leaf number. Best treatment combination was bengkuang biomass and NPK pearl manure (B1) with 4 g/polybag dose (P2).

Abstract

Pepper Plant (Piper nigrum L), better known as pepper, is one of the most economically valuable plantation commodity crops that has the opportunity to be developed in order to increase economic income for the State and for the farming community. This plant starts to bear fruit at the age of 2-3 years. Historically, the Nyogan villagers used to plant climbing pepper as their livelihood. So far, farmers have planted climbing pepper which requires a sturdy climbing pole. Climbing poles for pepper plants besides being expensive are also increasingly rare nowadays, for the Nyogan villagers to do socialization and planting of pepper shrubs. In theory, shrub pepper plants will grow and develop well if cultivated properly and grow without climbing poles so as to reduce the cost of purchasing climbing poles and do not require large areas. On this basis it is very possible if applied to sleeping land that is not used anymore or (on land that already has unproductive commodities). Pepper plants are very likely to be developed on people's lands around residential areas or empty plantation areas that have not been utilized in the Nyogan Village, Mestong Subdistrict, Muaro Jambi Regency. By utilizing this pattern, people can use their land to be productive and have economic and ecological added value

Abstract

Land resource hoarding coal post is supporting agricultural development. Experiment on the use of the media to land former coal mines that are expected to become soil ameliorant media or media after seedlings seeds moved into the field. The purpose of this study is 1) Determining the growth of oil palm seedlings with soil medium former coal mining areas. 2) Determining the decanter solid dose of the best on the growth of oil palm seedlings on former pasture land of coal mines in the main nursery. Design of experiment was randomized block design (RBD) with 7 dose treatment levels of decanter solid, there is no decanter solid, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 g/polybag. Each treatment was replicated four times, so there are 28 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of three plants and as an each of them as plant sample, thus totally there are 84 plants. Observed variables include the increase of plant height, plant diameter (cm) and leaf area (cm2) as well as the rate of plant growth and Seed Quality Index. Results of the research show that in general the administration of decanter solid on the growth of seedlings of oil palm with former land area coal mines provide better growth on the plant height, diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, increase the rate of plant growth as well as seed quality index compared to oil palm seedlings without any decanter solid. Decanter solid 400 g/polybag is the best for the growth of oil palm seedlings.
