Abstract

Indonesia as one of the biggest capitals with fisheries industry have more than 90% small-scale fisher spread around the nation. Sadly, in some region, small scale fishers not really implement the proper fish storing method due to the lack of space in their vessel and limited technology. This issue has led to a new idea to build a portable cooling fish storage specifically for small scale fisheries. The aim of this studies is to build and test the performance of prototype of portable fish storage. The method used is direct testing by doing several tests such as power consumption test, temperature decreasing rate, and cost simulation efficiently with some condition and variables. The performance test resulted that power consumption of portable refrigerated fish storage around 374,94 - 651,93 watt with temperature decreasing rate of 0,5 C/minutes. In cost simulation, the portable refrigerated can save up to 90% rather than a traditional fish storage.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the performance of environmental, economic, and social conflicts in the utilization of maritime potential, and implement the ICOFISH-MT (integration of coastal fisheries management and marine tourism) model in resolving these conflicts. The method consisted of a descriptive method and the ICOFISH-MT model approach. There were 8 (eight) conflicts in the utilization of maritime potential in the Labuhan Haji Fishing Port Area, divided into 4 environmental conflicts, 3 economic conflicts, and 1 social conflict. The status of 2 conflicts had a limited scale resolution status and 6 conflicts have not been resolved. The implementation of the ICOFISH-MT model in conflict resolution showed that the dominant conflict resolution techniques were negotiation and mediation (75%). The conflict management institution formed had a five-person management consisting of : chairman (1 person), vice chairman (1 person), secretary (1 person), and activities section (2 people). The cooperation scheme to utilize opportunities for integration/synergies of activities from the conflicting parties consisted of 4 profit-based cooperation, 3 non-profit cooperation, and 1 profit and non-profit cooperation. The results of conflict resolution using the ICOFISH-MT model are believed to be able to guarantee the sustainability of maritime potential utilization, increase employment opportunities for fishermen, tourism workers, and the community, and strengthen the role of fishing ports. Key words: conflict resolution, environment, fishing port, fisheries, maritime

Abstract

Modern Fish Market is one of the main fish marketing and culinary tourism centers located in Muara Baru, Jakarta, specifically within the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishing Port area. The market faces environmental challenges related to solid waste, particularly the mismanagement of inorganic waste. This study aims to estimate the amount and economic value of waste produced, compare existing waste management practices with SNI-19-2454-2002, and formulate appropriate waste management strategies for Modern Fish Market. The research was conducted using a case study approach, and respondents were selected through accidental sampling and purposive sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, gap analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results showed that waste generated from fish marketing activities at PIM consisted of 3.95% organic waste and 96.05% inorganic waste, with the economic value of inorganic waste reaching Rp1,559,000 per day. In terms of waste management, two aspects were found to be inconsistent with SNI-19-2454-2002. Six strategies were recommended to improve waste management at Modern Fish Market, with priority actions including the preparation of technical guidelines aligned with SNI-19-2454-2002 and expanding cooperation with recycling industries. Keywords:       recycling, organic waste, inorganic waste, SNI-19-2454-2002, Nizam Zachman
