Abstract

This research aims to find out and find the effect of the discovery learning model in improving students’ critical thinking skills on elasticity material. This research was carried out at SMAN 1 Sukamulia. The type of research used was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group research design. The population in this study was all students in class XI MIPA for the 2024/2025 academic year, totaling 2 classes. Meanwhile, the sample for this research was class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental class with a total of 30 students. Meanwhile, XI MIPA 2 is the control class with 25 students selected using purposive sampling techniques. The instrument used is a written test in the form of a description (essay) with a total of 6 questions that have been tested. The results of this research show that the average value for the experimental class is 62.86 and the control class has an average of 54. The results of the hypothesis test show that both classes are homogeneously and normally distributed. By using the t-test pollet variance formula, t(calculation) is 2.15 and t(table) is 2.02 so that t(calculation) is greater than T(table), then Ho is rejected and ha is accepted, thus it can be concluded that there is The influence of the discovery learning model in improving students’ critical thinking skills on elasticity material.

Abstract

The shift in science education towards a constructivist approach requires integrating learning strategies that foster deep student engagement and understanding. This research systematically investigates the integration of multimodal approaches into Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), and Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) models in science education, and evaluates their effectiveness on student learning outcomes. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA protocol, this study covers peer-reviewed sources from various international databases over the last 15 years. Findings consistently indicate that multimodal integration through simulations, virtual laboratories, multiple representations, videos, and other digital tools significantly improves conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, creativity, and positive motivation and attitudes towards science. While each model offers specific advantages (PBL excels in problem analysis, PjBL in artifact creation, and IBL in scientific exploration), successful implementation depends heavily on the teacher's role, student readiness, and contextual support. This review recommends well-planned multimodal learning designs that align with learning objectives and the specific model's characteristics.

Abstract

This study examines students’ perceptions of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) implementation, focusing on the perceived benefits, support needs, and challenges among pre-service teachers in the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education, University of Mataram.  Data were collected through a survey of 64 respondents. The results indicate that the majority of students perceived PjBL as beneficial for enhancing conceptual understanding, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Notably, 98.4% of respondents supported the continuous implementation of this model. Key support requirements identified include step-by-step guidance, project examples, and adequate references. Meanwhile, the primary challenges involved time management, group dynamics, facility limitations, and supervision intensity. The study concludes that while PjBL is effective in developing prospective teachers' competencies, its implementation demands more structured planning and consistent supervision to optimize outcomes.

Abstract

The advancement of technology demands that prospective Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers possess competencies in multimedia development to create engaging and effective learning experiences. This community service aimed to enhance these competencies through a four-stage training program: (1) participant registration and data collection, (2) theoretical and conceptual introduction to multimedia, (3) guided media creation with 11 relevant themes, and (4) evaluation and discussion of media products. Thirty 5th-semester students participated in the training. Evaluation results indicated the success of the training in developing skills and motivating participants. This activity contributes positively to preparing prospective ECE teachers to meet the demands of the evolving educational landscape.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding of prospective physics teachers regarding the role of laboratories and the importance of practical work in physics learning. The event involved 40 students currently undergoing education to become physics teachers. The activities were conducted through interactive lectures and laboratory practical sessions. The lectures provided in-depth information about the role of laboratories in physics education, explored the benefits of practical work as a means of applying theoretical concepts in real-life situations, and identified potential challenges in implementing practical work in schools. The laboratory practical sessions offered direct experiences for students to apply the physics concepts learned in the classroom. The results of this activity demonstrated a significant improvement in the understanding of prospective physics teachers regarding the role of laboratories and the importance of practical work in learning. Thus, this activity contributes positively to enhancing the quality of physics education at the primary and secondary education levels.

Abstract

This training aims to enhance the scientific article writing skills of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as teachers, through Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted training. The training was motivated by the difficulties often faced by novice writers in composing quality scientific articles. Fifteen participants attended a two-day training that covered material on the structure of scientific articles, writing techniques, and the use of AI in the writing process. The training methods employed were lectures, discussions, hands-on practice, and mentoring using AI platforms such as Gemini. The training results indicated a significant increase in participants' understanding of the structure and writing techniques of scientific articles. Moreover, participants provided positive feedback on the use of AI to assist in the writing process, such as in outlining, paraphrasing, and grammar correction. It can be concluded from this activity that AI-assisted training is effective in improving scientific article writing skills and has the potential to be an alternative solution for novice writers in producing quality writing.
