Abstract

The objective of this research is to analysing the different on upgrade the student’s math representation that obtained the guided inquiry learning and conventional learning. This research conducted by applying experiment method with nonequivalent control group design at one school. Which becoming research subject are students of Dharma Karya UT Middle School at 8th Grade. 8-2 class selected as control class (19 students) and 8-3 class selected as experiment class (20 students). Before and after learning process, two classes given the test of math representation with reliability is 0.70 (high category). The magnitude of the increasing in students’ math representation student group of guided inquiry learning group is 0.41 included as medium category. Meanwhile, the increasing students’ math representation student group of conventional learning is 0.26 included as low category. In conclusion, the hypothesis of the ability of the mathematical representation of students who learning with guided inquiry is better than students with conventional learning is accepted.

Abstract

The Purpose of this study is to determine the achievement and improvement of students’ mathematical connectionability through using outdoor mathematics learning. 64 students from the fifth grade of Primary School at SDN 65 and SDN 67 Bengkulu City were taken as the sample of this study. While the method of the research used in this research is experiment with quasi-experimental designs non-equivalent control group. The results of the study are as follows: (1) There is an increasing ability found in mathematical connection of students whom taught by using outdoors mathematics learning is 0,53; (2) Based on statical computation that achievement of students’ ability of mathematical connection is taught by using outdoor mathematics learning score is 71,25. It is higher than the students score 66,25 which were taught by using the conventional learning. So as to improve students’ mathematical connection, teachers are suggested to use the outdoors mathematics learning

Abstract

ABSTRAK Makalah ini membahas tentang penerapan model pembelajaran ICARE (inroduction, connect, apply, reflect, dan extend) dalam tutorial online untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika Universitas Terbuka (UT). Tutorial online merupakan layanan bantuan belajar berbasis TIK yang disediakan UT sebagai salah satu bentuk bantuan belajar sistem pendidikan jarak jauh. Melalui kajian pustaka dipaparkan bagaimana ICARE dijastifikasi sebagai model pembelajaran yang dapat membuat pembelajaran e-learning efektif meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematisKata Kunci : Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, pembelajaran ICARE.  ABSTRACT This paper discusses the application of ICARE (inroduction, connect, apply, reflect, and extend) learning models in the online tutorials to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities of students of mathematics education courses Universitas Terbuka (UT). Online tutorial is based learning support services information and communication technology provided UT as one form of learning support system of distance education. Through literature review described how ICARE justified as a learning model that can create e-learning effectively to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities. Keywords: Mathematical problem-solveing abilities, ICARE learning models.

Abstract

In the current digital era, the implementation of blended online learning faces challenges in understanding students' perceptions and its impact on learning outcomes, particularly in Abstract Algebra. This issue is crucial to investigate, as the shift in teaching methods can influence the comprehension of complex algebraic concepts. This research aims to investigate students' perceptions and learning outcomes in abstract algebra courses of blended and asynchronous online learning. The research method used was quasi-experiment. The subject of 27 students is available without being randomly selected. Research instruments using questionnaires and tests. The test consists of eight essay questions. The questionnaire includes 27 closed-ended questions and six open-ended questions. The results showed that students perceived Abstract Algebra subjects as difficult or very difficult. Most students needed help to study the module due to material difficulty thoroughly. In addition, asynchronous online learning is ineffective compared to blended online learning. All students wanted the tutorial asynchronous and synchronous combined (blended online learning). Most students carry out online learning at home using a smartphone device. Students who use blended online learning obtain significantly higher learning outcomes than students who only take it asynchronously.
