Abstract: This pre-experimental research is aimed to find out whether there is a significant effect of students’ speaking ability after using Role Play technique in teaching speaking at the first year students of SMP Negeri 9 Bintan. The research problem is: Can the application of role play technique improve the speaking ability of the first year students of SMP Negeri 9 Bintan?. The design of the research was one group pretest-posttest design and the research was conducted at SMP Negeri 9 Bintan. Cluster random sampling method was used to select one class of students to become the sample. As a result, 34 students of class VIIB at the first semester of academic year 2016/2017 were chosen as the samples. The steps applied in using role play technique are: (1) The teacher introduced the activity by explaining the material, making sure that all the students understand it (2) Teacher and students discussed about relevant vocabulary, sentences, or dialogues based on the material (3) Students were divided into groups (4) The teacher gave role card for each students to act out (5) The students familiarize themselves with their roles in a few minutes (6) Students constructed the dialogue based on their roles with their friends and practiced their own dialogue in a few minutes to familiarize them with the language (7) Teachers let the students act out the role play and exchanged their roles without interrupting or correcting (8) Teacher evaluated and checked students’ comprehension. The instrument used was a speaking test and the obtained data was analyzed by using SPSS version 21.0 for Windows. The results of data analysis are t-test (17.16) was higher than t-table (2.042). This indicates that there is a significant effect of students’ speaking ability after being taught using Role Play technique in teaching speaking.

The purpose of this classroom action research was to investigate the effectiveness ofcooperative learning type Roundtable technique in improving students’ ability inwriting hortatory exposition text at SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. The participants of thisresearch were 38 students of grade XI who had poor to average level of Englishproficiency. The data mainly gained from the writing test which was divided into pre-test and post-test. The findings indicated that Roundtable technique had a positive effecton the students’ writing ability particularly in each components of writing. It can beseen in the statistical analysis which showed that the mean score in the pre-test was43,9, increased to 60,85 in post-test 1 and 76,37 in post-test 2. It was revealed that theuse of Roundtable technique statistically improved students’ writing ability. Moreover,qualitative evidence showed that students within cooperative learning situation wereactually making meaning for themselves and others. This classroom situation helped theresearcher and the students conducted a creative, effective, and cooperative learningprocess. Roundtable technique was highly effective with creative writing and enjoyablebrainstorming activities. Abstract: This classroom action research was aimed to find out if the story telling technique could improve the speaking skill of the second year students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru.The participants were 28 students. The data was collected by using observation sheet,speaking tests, and field notes. The research finding indicated that the application of using story telling technique could improve students’ speaking ability both at the first cycle and second cycle. The result of pre-test shows the average score of students speaking ability was 48.2. It improved to 64.9 on the post-test 1 and 76.1on the post-test 2. It was also proved that applying story telling technique in teaching speaking could improve students’ interest and motivation to speak and share ideas with their friends in groups. In addition, applying story telling technique could also improve students’ ability to speak English in terms of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension. Abstract: The aim of this descriptive research was to know kind of learning style among the three (visual, auditory and kinesthetic) which prefer to use by the second year students of English Study Program of FKIP-UR and to know the academic achievement of the students. The participants of this research were 32 students of the second year students of English Study Program of FKIP-UR. This research used the VAK Questionnaire test in analyzing the students’ learning style and used the students’ academic achievement in form of GPA in order to know the students achievement in learning process. This finding research found that from the three types of learning style, the visual learning style is most prevalent among the students. Then, most of the good achievers are kinesthetic learner and most of the learners who taken as a sample have the category Good in their academic achievement.Keywords: Learning Style, Academic Achievement, VAK Learning Style

Abstract: This study discusses the difficulties of students in understanding basic level dokkai texts. The purpose of this study was to determine the difficulties experienced by students in understanding basic level dokkai texts. The method used in this research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 28 students of the 2020 class of Japanese language education FKIP Riau University. The results of this study indicate that students have difficulty in understanding basic level dokkai texts. In general, students experience difficulties in all indicators, namely grammatical competence, sociolinguistic competence, discourse competence and strategic competence. In particular, students have difficulty in grammatical and discourse competence. Grammatical and discourse competencies have an important role in understanding dokkai texts. In grammatical competence there are letters, vocabulary and sentence patterns that must be mastered, while discourse competence is the relationship between one sentence and another.Key Words: Difficulty, basic level dokkai text, Japanese language education.

Secara umum penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang mendalam tentang pengelolaan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan yang dapat diuraikan secara terperinci yaitu: 1) menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan perencanaan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan; 2) menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan pengorganisasian kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan; 3) menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan berdasarkan Permendikbud Nomor 62 Tahun 2014; dan 4) menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan evaluasi kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deksriptif yang dilaksanakan di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan. Adapun teknik yang akan dilakukan adalah dengan melalui tahapan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Pada penelitian ini penulis melaksanakan prosedur secara sistematis dengan menyusun hasil pengamatan, wawancara, catatan lapangan dan studi dokumentasi sampai pada tahap jenuh dan mengambil kesimpulan terhadap data yang telah terkumpul tersebut. Berdasarkan paparan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan terkait manajemen program ekstrakurikuler di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di SMKN 2 Taluk Kuantan sudah berjalan dengan baik dan lancer serta tersistematis.

This Research is aimed at finding out the level of writing ability of the students at English Study Program FKIP- UNRI by using Cooperative Learning Method. The samples of the research were all of the first year students that joined Writing IC. The procedure of the research were administered through (a) pre-tes; (b) teaching and learning process by using Cooperative Learning Method; and (c) pos-tes. Pre-tes and pos-tes were given in order to know the level of their writing ability. Data analysis was conducted by comparing the scores of pre-tes and post-tes. Data calculation concluded that with df = 78 – 1 = 77, it was found that r table with significant level 5% = 2.64; and 1% = 1.99 which were smaller than t = 3.005. As a result, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In conclusion, Cooperative Learning Method played a significant role in increasing the writing ability of students of English Study Program FKIP UNRI.

Literacy Village is a village area that is used to create people who have broad knowledge and understanding. At the same time, it is also a program to realize the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030. An important effort made as the first step to build a Literacy Village in Maredan Barat physically is to build a Community Reading Park, as well as building positive perceptions of the community towards Literacy Village. This paper will explain the efforts made in building this Literacy Village. To get feedback and people’s perceptions about the activities done, 56 respondents were asked to give their responce to the given questionnaire. Respondents were selected by stratified random sampling. The results of the questionnaire analysis show that the community has a positive perception of the development of Literacy Village. In general, activities of Literacy Village development can be said to be successful, although there are still obstacles due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Setiap sekolah sebagai suatu organisasi memiliki kendala di luar lingkungannya yang mempengaruhi cara menjalankan aktivitasnya. Kendala tersebut dapat mengubah dan menentukan ketidakpastian lingkungan organisasi sekolah, karena membuat lingkungan menjadi dinamis dan kompleks. Ketidak pastian lingkungan membuat kepala sekolah sebagai pemimpin organisasi sulit untuk mengontrol arah institusi untuk mencapai tujuan mereka.Gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah merupakan salah satu faktor penting yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan sekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk 1) mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis gaya kepemimpinan kepala SMP Negeri 6 Rambah Samo Kabupaten Rokan Hulu dan 2) mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis faktor yang mempengaruhi gaya kepemimpinan kepala SMP Negeri 6 Rambah Samo, Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penulisan ini adalah metode kualitatif, dengan pengumpulan datanya menggunakan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan trianggulasi sumber, metode dan teori.Hasil penelitian ini diketahui bahwa tipe kepemimpinan yang diterapkan oleh kepala sekolah di SMP Negeri 6 Rambah Samo adalah managerial learship sesuai dengan teori Bush. Aspek pada gaya kepemimpinan yang telah berjalan dengan baik seperti inisiatif bawahan, pemberian sanksi/hukuman, pemberian penghargaan terhadap prestasi, dan rapat kerja. Namun aspek gaya kepemimpinan seperti pengambilan keputusan, menjalin komunikasi, membagi tugas, memonitoring/pengawasan pelaksanaan tugas masih perlu ditingkatkan.

This study aims to determine the effect of variables (1) workload on teacher work stress levels, (2) dual role conflict on teacher work stress levels, (3) workload and dual role conflict together on teacher work stress levels. The research respondents were principals of public elementary schools in Tanjung Medan District, Rokan Hilir Regency, totaling 148 people with a sample of 108. The data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires as research instruments. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The instrument reliability coefficient was calculated using the Cronbach alpha formula. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of workload on the teacher's work stress level of 0.517, there was a positive and significant influence of dual role conflict on the teacher's work stress level of 0.458. Meanwhile, together there is an effect of workload and dual role conflict on the teacher's work stress level of 0.543
