Abstract

This activity is the second year of community service which is a continuation of training activities and making digital teaching materials to support project-based learning (PjBL) in sekolah penggerak for chemistry teachers in Padang city. This second year of community service activities has the theme of training to digitise project-based learning teaching materials developed at the Chemistry Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) in Padang city. This activity aims to provide direction to Padang city chemistry teachers in implementing digital teaching materials. This community service was carried out in the lecture building of FMIPA Universitas Negeri Padang on 9 August, 16 August, and 23 August 2024. The implementation methods carried out in this community service activity are: (1) conducting a needs analysis, knowing the situation of teachers towards the implementation of PjBL-based learning through questionnaires distributed, (2) delivering material to community service participants related to PjBL and an overview of teaching materials that have been designed using the PjBL learning model explained by the speaker, then (3) delivery of materials and discussions related to differentiated learning with the PJBl learning model, and (4) delivering material related to the digitalisation of project-based teaching materials or PjBL using liveworksheet. The results of the service activities carried out can provide motivation, provide experience, and understanding for Padang city chemistry teachers regarding the digitalisation of project-based learning teaching materials so that chemistry teachers in Padang city can prepare digital chemistry teaching materials, especially with liveworksheets using the PjBL model that can assist learning activities so that learning can run effectively and efficiently in accordance with the demands of the curriculum and the times.

Abstract

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it caused a very significant change in education. The learning was done online. So that makes the Indonesian student lose. The free curriculum also demands free study, as summarized in PROPELA. That's why research needs to be done to develop textbooks to support the study of the free curriculum matter, atomic structure phase E, and test the validity and practicality of this teaching material. This type of research is called Educational Design Research (EDR) with the Plomp model, which is: (1) preliminary research; (2) development or prototyping; and (3) assessment (not done). Research data from validation is insulated using Aiken's v formula, while registered data is analyzed in a present-day way. Based on the study's results, the teaching material has been valid, with an average score of 0.91. The use of the scripture is easy to understand and view, practical learning, and benefits of teaching, with an average score of 72%. This coursebook is valid and helpful through the formative tests that have been carried out. The final average value of 0.94 is proof of this validity. In addition, this coursebook is also equipped with mental model problems that are proven to help students solve existing problems. This is known from the responses of active and excellent students in solving these problems. In addition, the time spent working on the questions is also sufficient, so it only uses time outside of learning hours.

The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) with a 4-D development model. The 4-D development model consists of 4 stages of development, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. The research instruments used are interview sheets, questionnaires, validation instruments, practicality instruments and effectiveness instruments. The validity test uses the Aiken's V formula. The results of the construct and content validity tests were 0.88 and 0.89 with a valid category. The results of the module practicality test carried out by teachers and students were 91.25% and 90.65% with a very practical category. The effectiveness test of the module was carried out using the N-Gain test and obtained a result of 0.71 in the high category. The results of the study indicate that a valid, practical and effective acid-base module based on ethnochemical problem-based learning has been obtained in improving students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

Organic fertilizers have been popular lately because they are believed to increase agricultural yields and are environmentally friendly. With the increasing popularity of fertilizer use, farmers have innovated to make their organic fertilizers using materials available in their surroundings. The problem experienced by farmers is regarding the testing of the fertilizer produced. This community service activity aims to assist farmers in testing fertilizers in the laboratory and provide insight into testing the effectiveness of fertilizers in Jorong Arikia, Nagari Dalko, Agam Regency, aided by 39 students from Padang State University. Assistance is carried out through discussions related to fertilizers, then continued with preparing for testing and assisting in testing fertilizers. The results of this community service activity are increasing farmers' insight in testing organic fertilizers so that the fertilizers produced can optimize harvest results, be certified, and be produced on a large scale to encourage economic growth in the region. In addition, this PkM activity also aims to provide a forum for UNP students who are carrying out community service program activities to be able to practice the knowledge they have gained on campus in the field. Thus, this PkM program is directly integrated with campus activities and is expected to develop further in the future so as to provide a greater contribution to society.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, including in Padang Pariaman Regency, where the prevalence reached 28.3% in 2021 and declined to 19.4% in 2023. Efforts to prevent stunting require a community-based approach that utilizes local resources, one of which is the nipa palm fruit (Nypa fruticans), known for its high nutritional content and potential as functional food. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres in Nagari Katapiang in processing nipa fruit into nutritious and economically valuable food products. The methods included nutrition education, dissemination of information on nipa fruit potential, and training on appropriate technology for processing nipa into food products such as jam, nuggets, and meatballs. Evaluation was carried out through pre- and post-activity questionnaires. The results showed a significant increase in cadres’ knowledge of nipa’s nutritional content (from 20% to 100%) and health benefits (from 30% to 100%). Perceptions of nipa’s role in stunting prevention also increased from 25% to 95%. Furthermore, practical skills in producing nipa jam improved, where all participants who had never tried before were able to produce processed products after the training. Thus, this PKM activity successfully enhanced the knowledge and practical skills of Posyandu cadres, while demonstrating the potential of nipa fruit as a local food innovation supporting stunting prevention efforts.

This research aims to design a flipped classroom learning system incorporating guided inquiry, using the Discord platform for buffer solution materials in Phase F. The study employed Plomp Educational Design Research framework, which comprises initial investigation, design, construction, testing, evaluation, and refinement. The product underwent validation through expert evaluation and was assessed for practicality and effectiveness. The content validity achieved a score of 0.89, while the media validity scored 0.90, meaning both belong to the valid category. Evaluation of practicality showed that the system was highly practical, with teachers and students giving it an overall score of 90% and 92% respectively. Effectiveness was measured by analyzing pretest and posttest results using the N-Gain formula, yielding a score of 0.75, which is classified as high gain. The overall findings suggest that the developed learning system is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ understanding of buffer solutions. Moreover, the integration of Discord provides an accessible and interactive digital environment, aligning with the needs of 21st-century education and the Merdeka Curriculum. Therefore, this model can be recommended as an innovative solution for digital chemistry instruction in senior high schools.
