Abstract

Effective energy conservation strategies are required to be implemented in academic buildings as they consume significant energy while considering the convenience and function of the buildings. However, the influencing factors are interrelated and complex, requiring an appropriate approach to unravel the complexity. Therefore, this study aims to identify, analyse, and map the interaction relationship between factors affecting energy conservation in academic buildings. This study used Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) procedure starting from developing the Structural Self Interaction Matrix (SSIM), converting SSIM into a Reachability Matrix, revising the matrix, and categorizing the factors by using MICMAC analysis. This study involved 9 factors, including architectural design, illumination technology, education and awareness, energy monitoring and management, renewable energy use, efficient HVAC system, energy-saving equipment, institutional policies, and campus community participation. The study found that renewable energy use at level 3 was the factor that was not influenced by and did not interact with any other factors. Meanwhile, the illumination technology was a factor that interacted with the efficient HVAC System factor which was at level 1 where these two factors were influenced by other seven factors. This study aligns with current developments in energy conservation, including an increased focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency in academic buildings, supported by global and national policies aimed at achieving sustainability goals. It provides a comprehensive understanding on developing sustainable energy conservation strategies in academic buildings.

Abstract

This research discuss about the Reinforcement of Foreigner Satisfaction Concept in immigration service in Indonesia. Policy implementation and law enforcement will be much easier if the government can gain trust from its citizen (Zhao and Hu, 2015), even in a more extreme case, the low trust in government can push reformation (Salim et al., 2017). Immigration service is not only provided for Indonesian but also for foreigners that enter Indonesia territory. Few immigra- tion services provided for foreigners are visa and stay permit extension, stay per- mit shifting, multiple exit re-entry permit, and dual citizenship for children under 18 years old. This research aims to prove the influence of equity and disconfirmation satisfaction on CSI as intervening variables in order to re-formu- late the more representative CSI concept. This was a quantitative research that was conducted in Padang Immigration Office. The sample was counted by using Slovin formula. Based on all findings and discussion above, we concluded that the rein- forcement of foreigner satisfaction concept can be done by adding equity satis- faction and disconfirmation satisfaction into existing CSI model because both of them can increase the influence of service quality on SCI. Furthermore, the proposed hypothetic model was proved and it can be accounted for academically. The model can be used as the conceptual corner- stone by other researchers to do other studies related to service quality and CSI.

Abstract

The nickel smelting industry in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, contributes significantly to the economy but faces substantial challenges in occupational safety. Recurrent fires in these smelters highlight deficiencies in the implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, as well as their impacts on workers and the surrounding environment. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of public policies in mitigating fire risks in smelter industries, focusing on identifying root causes, policy implementation, and the role of oversight. The study adopts a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, analyzing regulatory documents, fire incident reports, and media articles. The analysis reveals that the primary causes of fires include procedural negligence, inadequate safety infrastructure, and weak OHS implementation. Insufficient government oversight and inadequate employee training further exacerbate the issue. Key findings indicate that existing regulations are not fully effective due to inconsistent implementation in practice. The study recommends strengthening oversight, enforcing strict penalties, and enhancing safety training for workers. In conclusion, with integrated improvement measures, fire risks can be minimized, creating a safer and more sustainable working environment.
