Abstract

Azotobacter is Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria through the mechanism of nitrogen fixation and phytohormon production but this rhizobacteria has a role to control plant diseases. The objective of experiment was to evaluate the activity of Azotobacter as biofertilizers as well as biocontrol on long bean cultivation in damping off endemic land in Ambon city, Maluku Province. The field experiment was arranged in completely randomized block design. Inoculation of long bean by Azotobacter has been done by seed inoculation, soil inoculation before planting, and plant inoculation. Plants treated with Azotobacter received fertilizer NPK of ¾ or ½ dosage recommendation while control plants were received 100% NPK. Research showed that no differences between yield of long bean inoculated with Azotobacter sp +reduced doses of NPK with that of control plants. Any application method of Azotobacter inoculation lowered damping off diseases incidence significantly until 10 days after planting, but no effect of inoculation on late blight at 21 days after planting. This study confirmed that Azotobacter has dual activity to reduce the dose of NPK fertilizer and control damping off.

Abstract

Pupuk hayati dengan bahan aktif rizobakteri Azotobacter mampu meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman melalui fiksasi nitrogen dan produksi fitohormon. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membandingkan respons tanaman serkedelai (Glycine max (L.) Merill) di lahan kering setelah aplikasi beberapa metode inokulasi Azotobacter. Percobaan lapangan dilakukan dengan Rancangan Acak Kelompok yang terdiri atas lima perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah inokulasi benih, inokulasi melalui tanah sebelum tanam, inokulasi melalui tanah setelah tanam dan inokulasi melalui tajuk tanaman. Pertamanan dengan inokulasi Azotobacter diberi pupuk urea 50 % dari dosis rekomendasi sedangkan tanaman kontrol mendapatkan urea dosis rekomendasi. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh metode aplikasi tidak mempengaruhi produksi kedelai, jumlah nodula, populasi Azotobacter di rizosfer dan N total tanah; tetapi aplikasi Azotobacter sp melalui daun meningkatan serapan N dan bobot 100 biji kedelai.

Abstract

Growth and production of corn plants require land with sufficient nutrients. Utilization of biological fertilizers and organic materials carried out with the aim of increasing the yield of corn. The treatments that were tried were the provision of compost, livestock manure, compost and livestock manure, each of which was added by spraying a consortium of biological fertilizer. The experiment was designed using a randomized block design with five replications. The results showed that the application of organic-based fertilizers affected plant height from 17 - 49 days after planting, weight of fruit with kelobot, weight of cob and ear length. Provision of compost or livestock manure and added with a biological fertilizer consortium by spray gives a higher effect compared to the provision of compost or livestock manure which is not added to the consortium of biological fertilizer. To increase the productivity of maize plants it is recommended to use a consortium of biological fertilizers applied by spraying at intervals of seven days until the plants are 49 days after planting.

Abstract

Consortium biofertilizer containing Nitrogen (N) Fixing Bacteria and Phosphate (P) Solubilizing Bacteria may substitute inorganic fertilizer in vegetable production. A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of some combinations and doses of consortium biofertilizer and NPK compound fertilizer on available N and P in the soil, fresh weight of caysim (Brassica chinensis L. var. parachinensis.), and their uptake by caisim shoots after grown in low fertility soil. The experimental design was a randomized block design consisting of seven combinations and doses of consortium biofertilizer and compound fertilizer; and three control treatments. All treatments were repeated three times. The results showed that the combination of the which combination treatment of inorganic fertilizer and biofertilizer had a significant effect on the fresh weight of caysim shoots, available P and N and P uptake after harvesting compared to the biofertilizer treatment alone or without fertilization. Several treatments of combined doses of biofertilizers and NPK compound fertilizer produced the same yield as NPK compound fertilizer alone. The application of 300 kg/ha of compound fertilizer combined with 3,75 L/ha of biofertilizer enabled to increase the yield up to 16% compared to NPK fertilizer alone. This experiment explained that inoculation of biofertilizers can reduce the dose of NPK fertilizer to maintain yield, available P residue in soil and P uptake

Abstract

Biofertilizers contain bacteria that can offset the use of inorganic fertilizers. However, using bacteria as biofertilizers also requires carrier materials such as bran, compost, and Azolla flour to maintain the viability of the bacteria before being transferred to the soil. This study aimed to determine the effect of consortium biofertilizer with different carriers and doses of NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) fertilizer on the growth and yield of upland rice on Inceptisols from Jatinangor. This study used a randomized block design with two factors: the carrier of consortium biofertilizer (compost, rice bran, and Azolla) and the dose of NPK fertilizer (0%, 50%, and 100%). The experimental results showed no interaction between the consortium's biofertilizers with carrier and NPK fertilizer doses on plant height, number of tillers, weight of rice grain, and weight of 100 grains of upland rice plants. The independent factor of biological fertilizer with carrier material significantly affected plant height, and the independent factor of single NPK fertilizer significantly affected plant height, number of tillers, and rice grain weight.

Abstract

Farmers usually apply more chemical fertilizers to enhance the yield of strawberries in soilless culture. Humic substances and biofertilizers are now considered essential nutrient sources in sustainable agriculture. The objective of the greenhouse experiment was to observe the effect of humic and fulvic acid (humic substances), and biofertilizer on root growth, nitrogen (N) and phosphor (P) of the growing media, populations of N-fixing and P-solubilizing bacteria in the root zone, and yield of strawberry grown in the cocopeat-based substrate. The experiment was set up in a randomized block design consisting of seven treatments and four replications. The treatments included humic acid, fulvic acid, and biofertilizer in single or combined applications. All data were subjected to analysis of variance and followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test with p<0.05. All treatments received 50% of the recommended dose of NPK fertilizer. The results showed that all treatments did not affect root length and dry weight. Mixed application of humic substances and biofertilizer together with NPK fertilizer increased total N and P as well as the population of N-fixing bacteria in the growth substrate. Still, P-solubilizing bacteria did not grow in the cocopeat-based substrate. Moreover, mixing humic substances and biofertilizer increased strawberries' fruit yield and sweetness levels.

Abstract

Aplikasi senyawa organik yang mengandung asam humat dan pupuk hayati dilaporkan mampu meningkatkan sifat fisik, kimia, dan biologi media tanam, meningkatkan hasil tanaman, serta mengurangi dosis pupuk anorganik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi senyawa organik yang mengandung asam humat, asam fulvat, dan pupuk hayati terhadap N-total dan P-total pada media tanam, serta hasil buah pada tanaman stroberi. Percobaan dilaksanakan di rumah kasa kebun stroberi di Cisarua, Kecamatan Lembang, Provinsi Jawa Barat. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tujuh perlakuan. Perlakuan percobaan terdiri dari senyawa organik yang mengandung 2% asam humat dengan dosis 0,9 kg/ha, senyawa organik yang mengandung 1% asam fulvat 1 l/ha, pupuk hayati Bion Up 3 l/ha, berbagai kombinasi asam humat, asam fulvat dan pupuk hayati, pada masing-masing perlakuan ditambahkan pupuk NPK 16:16:16 sebanyak 125 kg/ha, serta perlakuan kontrol berupa pupuk NPK 125 kg/ha. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan kombinasi asam humat, asam fulvat, pupuk hayati, dan pupuk NPK memberikan hasil yang lebih baik dalam meningkatkan N-total (1,27%) dan P-total (5,88%) media tanam, serta bobot buah stroberi per tanaman (34,97 g) dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya.

Abstract

Penggunaan lahan pertanian dengan status hara kurang optimal dapatmenghambat pertumbuhan tanaman, sehingga perlu upaya penambahan unsur hara ke dalam tanah tanpa menyebabkan permasalahan lingkungan. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan memberikan pupuk organik berupa kompos. Melimpahnya volume limbah pertanian dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan kompos. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari berbagai jenis kompos limbah pertanian dengan taraf dosis yang berbeda terhadap populasi Azotobacter sp., C-organik, N-total, Serapan-N, dan hasil pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) pada tanah Incepstisol Jatinangor. Penelitian dilaksanakan di rumah kaca kebun percobaan Ciparanje, Kecamatan Jatinangor menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 10 perlakuan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari: satu kontrol dan tiga taraf dosis dari setiap jenis kompos. Jenis kompos yang digunakan adalah kompos jerami padi, ampas tebu, dan tandan kosong kelapa sawit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kompos limbah pertanian berpengaruh nyata terhadap total populasi Azotobacter sp. dan hasil pakcoy. Parameter C-organik, N-total dan Serapan-N tidak berbeda nyata antar perlakuan dan kontrol. Pemberian kompos jerami padi 20 ton/ha merupakan perlakuan terbaik dalam menghasilkan 130,97 g bobot basah dengan 8,46 g bobot kering per tanaman pakcoy. Pemanfaatan limbah pertanian dapat menjadi alternatif yang ramah lingkungan dalam meningkatkan hasil tanaman pakcoy, walaupun hasil penelitian ini belum berpengaruh nyata terhadap C dan N.

Abstract

Strawberries in tropical West Java are cultivated intensively in potted soil but the substrate condition received less attention. The objective of this descriptive research was to evaluate the chemical and macronutrient profile in potted-soils for strawberry cultivation, and to determine beneficial microbes’ population in root-free bulk soil and rhizosphere of potted-strawberry.  The soil samples collected from 12-months and one-month-old potted strawberry; both contained Inceptisols soil order with 10 t/ha and 25 t/ha manure respectively. The proximate analysis was performed using Association of Official Analytical Chemists Method. The microbial enumeration was performed by Serial Dilution Plate Method in specific medium. The results showed that potted soils were not saline, but slightly acid, low in organic carbon and high in cation exchange capacity. The soil reactions were suitable for strawberry but the electrical conductivity was too low for strawberry growth. The potted soils have low to very low carbon to nitrogen ratio, but high in total nitrogen and very high in potential P2O5 and K2O. The population of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria, nitrogen-fixing Azotobacter, total bacteria and total fungi in old potted soil were low; but its counts were increased in manure-treated potted soil. The ratios of bulk soil to rhizosphere microbial count were only 1.0-1.25. The study verified that the doses of organic matter should be increased, while decreasing the chemical fertilizer level.

Abstract

Biofertilizers are recommended to improve crops yield but researches regarding biofertilizer inoculation on foxtail millet in Indonesia is still Tlimited. The objective of the experiment was to analyze the growth and yield responses of five local-millet accessions to Bacillus biofertilizer with reduced NPK fertilizer dose; and the germination rate of millet seeds. The pot experiment was arranged in randomized block design with 10 treatments and 10 replications. The treatments were combination of five millet accessions with one dose of NPK fertilizer, and half dose of NPK fertilizer with biofertilizer. Generally, half dose of NPK with Bacillus inoculation did not change the height of six-weeks old plant, and panicle weight and length of millet compared to one dose of NPK. However, this combined fertilizer increased plant height and panicle length of Mani-Mani 79. Reduced dose NPK with Bacillus inoculation increased panicles number of J3 but reduced that of Polman 3; moreover, this combined fertilizer increased the grain weight of J3 and J4, but decreased the yield of Polman 3. The Enrekang and Polman 3 accession had better germination rate; 92% and 89.33%, respectively. This research considered that Bacillus biofertilizer reduced NPK fertilizer dose by 50% and is suggested for growing millet.ABSTRAKPupuk hayati banyak disarankan untuk meningkatkan produksi tanaman tetapi riset mengenai inokulasi pupuk hayati pada jewawut aksesi lokal Indonesia belum banyak dilakukan. Percobaan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis respons pertumbuhan dan hasil lima aksesi jewawut lokal terhadap inokulasi pupuk hayati Bacillus dan pengurangan dosis pupuk NPK; serta daya berkecambah biji jewawut setelah panen. Percobaan pot disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok dengan 10 perlakuan dan 10 ulangan. Perlakuan percobaan adalah kombinasi lima aksesi jewawut dengan satu dosis pupuk NPK, dan setengah dosis pupuk NPK disertai pupuk hayati. Umumnya, tinggi tanaman umur enam minggu, serta bobot dan panjang malai jewawut dengan setengah dosis NPK disertai inokulasi Bacillus sama dengan tanaman yang diberi satu dosis NPK. Namun, tinggi tanaman dan panjang malai Mani-Mani 79 meningkat setelah aplikasi setengah dosis NPK dengan inokulasi Bacillus. Jumlah malai aksesi J3 meningkat sedangkan Polman 3 menurun dengan aplikasi setengah dosis NPK disertai inokulasi Bacillus. Kombinasi pupuk ini meningkatkan bobot biji J3 dan J4 tetapi  menurunkan hasil Polman 3. Aksesi Enrekang dan Polman 3 memiliki daya berkecambah yang lebih baik; masing-masing sebesar 92% dan 89,33%. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pupuk hayati Bacillus dapat mengurangi dosis pupuk NPK sampai 50% dan dapat disarakan untuk tanaman jewawut.
