Abstract

Fish fumigation is one method of fish processing that combines the process of salting, heating and adhering to the chemical components of smoke. Fish fumigation is intended for preservation, but this role has now shifted towards flavor formation, the distinctive color and aroma of smoked fish. Fishermen in Hamadi Village, Jayapura City have been doing of smoked fish for a long time, now it is a main business for every family. But so far the production of processed fish is mostly traditional processing, so it has not considered health and food safety factors such as negative impacts on the environment, as well as consumer concerns about carcinogenic compounds and air pollution. The Training of Technology Utilization use smoking cabinet as an alternative method of fish fuming, it is cheap and easy to apply and environmentally friendly. The methods was following,  the observation, Interviews, Counseling and Training. Activities were carried out in July - August 2018. The results of the activities were obtained, 86% said they had never participated in the activity, while 14% had already followed. After the activities were carried out 57% said they were very satisfied, 43% said they were satisfied.Keywords: Smoking Cabinet, Fish, Society, Jayapura

Abstract

Pandan leaves is one of the commodities of non timber forest products that have potential and usefeul as raw materian of handicraft. According to market demand and over time, Pandanus crafts are made into a variety of creative and innovative forms, such as handbags, sandals, storage boxes, file boxes, and so on. Community service activity is aimed to train and guide the students in Biology Departmentto create innovative products from pandan leaf crafts and to train them to do pandan leaf cloring techniques so that it becomes a quality craft materials. The results of the devotion work well, the students managed to cerate some innovative products, including sandals, hand fans and placemates. Based on the questionnaire analysis shows that 100% of students get new knowledge about handicrafts and coloring techniques pandanleaf staining, and activities like this can be used as extracurricular activities for students in the department of Biology. Keywords: Pandan leaf, handycrafts, staining technique

Abstract

The Good Fish Cultivation Program (CBIB) is an activity that teaches how cultivating good fish to produce good products. in Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, there is still a very low level of knowledge about CBIB, which affects the level of freshwater fish production. The aim of the research is How to Impact the Cultivator Community's Understanding of Good Fish Cultivation Methods on the Production of Freshwater Fish Cultivation in the Muara Tami District, Jayapura City. This study used a qualitative research method, which took place at the People's Hatchery Unit and Fish Farmers Group in Muara Tami District, Jayapura City. This study uses qualitative research methods, with research locations in the community seed units (UPR) and Pokdakan (fish cultivator groups) in Muara Tami District The results showed that the implementation of the CBIB program in the Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, was not optimal. constraints such as, lack of coaching and supervision. From the results of this study it can be concluded that CBIB has not been able to implemented well because it is influenced by 2 aspects: organizational and interpretation aspects, and application aspect. Recommended to the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Jayapura City must make efforts to support the fulfillment of the needs of fish cultivators in the Muara Tami District, Jayapura City in terms of organizational and interpretation aspects, and implementation aspects so that the achievement of production and safety and quality can be improved.

Abstract

Laut Arafura merupakan wilayah perairan yang kaya akan sumber daya ikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hasil tangkapan, kelimpahan relatif, dan frekuensi keterdapatan ikan yang ditemukan menggunakan jaring insang di laut Arafura Distrik Waan, Kabupaten Merauke. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2020 di Distrik Waan dengan mengambil empat titik sampling, yaitu di Perairan Waan, Toor, Kladar, dan Tanjung Akos dengan menggunakan metode survei. Data yang diamati meliputi (1) kekayaan jenis dan komposisi hasil tangkapan, diperoleh dari hasil identifikasi dan jumlah jenis, (2) kelimpahan relatif (Kr), serta (3) frekuensi keterdapatan. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh sebanyak delapan jenis ikan pelagis kecil dan satu jenis ikan pelagis besar. Jenis ikan pelagis dengan nilai kelimpahan yang relatif besar adalah Thryssa setirostris, sedangkan ikan pelagis dengan nilai kelimpahan kecil adalah Rhinomugil sp., Mugil cephalus, Paramugil sp., dan Selenotoca papuensis. Jenis ikan yang memiliki tingkat persebaran luas adalah T. setirostris, Ilisha macrogaster, Trichiurus savala, Chelon sp., dan  Scomberoides sp.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have an important role as a filter for CO2 gas that is in the air through the process of photosynthesis. This is why the existence of mangrove forests is of great concern in maintaining the carbon cycle in the world. Most of the mangrove forests in Indonesia are in the Papua region, which accounts for one-third of the total area of mangrove forests in Indonesia. One of the mangrove forest areas that is quite thick is in the Youtefa Bay area in Enggros and Entrop Villages with Rhizophora mucronata species found. This research was conducted by measuring the carbon content using an allometric formula that utilizes stem diameter values. This study showed that the biomass of Rhizophora mucronata in Entrop Village was more than that of Enggros Village, which was 1063.44 Kg. Carbon content and absorption also showed results that were directly proportional to the biomass in Entrop Village at 19.4616 and 71.42 Kg/m2. The ratio of the difference in biomass and carbon content between the two villages also shows a difference of 14%.

Abstract

Abstract. Lake Sentani is located in Jayapura Regency, Papua Province with an area 9,360 ha and 70-90 meters above sea level. The lake directly adjacent to Cycloops Mountains Nature Reserve, obtaining supplies of about 34 springs.  The aim of the research was to describes the lake bathymetry as a basic information for the utilization. The function are as habitat place for many species, water resources, fisheries, transport and tourism. Morphometry and bathymetry of the lake is very important for the sustainable management of the lake functions as a topography and relief lakes that have different extreme depths. Making the bathymetry of the lake is done with the acoustic method. Recording data using Garmin GPSmap 76CSx and Garmin Echo 100 Fishfinder. The result of the research showed that the depth of Lake Sentani with 9 variation at the different location, in generally range 15-23 m. Meanwhile, the waters of the deepest lake located in the eastern part of the lake is more than 70 m and the lowest depths of 0-7 m are in the middle of the Sentani area.Keywords: bathymetry; morphometry; acoustic method; Garmin Echo 100 Fishfinder; Lake SentaniAbstrak. Mengetahui morfometri dan batimetri danau sangat penting untuk pengelolaan fungsi danau yang berkelanjutan karena kondisi topografi dan relief danau yang memiliki perbedaan kedalaman ekstrim. Pembuatan batimetri danau dilakukan dengan metode akustik. Perekaman data menggunakan Garmin GPSmap 76CSx dan Garmin Echo 100 Fishfinder. Abstract

Pantai Wisata Hamadi di Kota Jayapura merupakan salah satu destinasi wisata yang populer di Papua. Namun, kualitas air laut dan sanitasi lingkungan di pantai ini perlu diperhatikan agar tetap terjaga kebersihannya dan tidak membahayakan kesehatan pengunjung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas perairan Pantai Wisata Hamadi dengan beberapa faktor pengukuran kemudian membandingkan dengan baku mutu air laut sesuai dengan Keputusan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup Nomor 51 tahun 2004 yang diperuntukkan sebagai baku mutu perairan daerah wisata bahari. Parameter kualitas perairan yang diamati adalah parameter fisika dan kimia. Paremater fisika terdiri dari suhu dan kecerahan. Sedangkan parameter kimia terdiri dari pH, sulfida (H2S), Nitrat (NO3N), Phosphat (PO4), Coli tinja serta Coliform. Pengukuran suhu dan pH dilakukan dengan water quality meter. Sedangkan analisis parameter kimia Sulfida, nitrat, fosfat, coli tinja dan coliform dilakukan dengan analisis laboratorium. Analisis data kualitas air laut pada dasarnya adalah dengan membandingkan hasil data primer analisis laboratorium dengan Baku mutu air laut yang didasarkan pada Keputusan Menteri Negara Lingkungan Hidup Nomor: 51 Tahun 2004 Pasal 3 Ayat 2 tentang baku mutu untuk kawasan wisata bahari. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa nilai kecerahan perairan sebesar 0,4 meter, suhu sebesar 27-29oC, nilai pH 7,3-7,5, kadar sulfida sebesar 0,003 mg/l, nitrat 4,40 mg/l, phosphat 0,60 mg/l, dan coli tinja 2 MPN/100 ml.. Berdasarkan hasil pengukuran kualitas fisika dan kimia perairan tersebut, maka Pantai Wisata Hamadi masih layak untuk dijadikan onjek wisata

Abstract

Pengolahan ikan berpotensi menghasilkan berbagai diversifikasi olahan. Ikan tuna sirip kuning merupakan salah satu ikan yang dapat di olah menjadi sosis ikan, fillet, abon atau produk-produk olahan lainnya. Sosis ikan merupakan produk daging giling yang bersifat kenyal dan berbentuk silinder dengan pembungkus khusus (casing). Target kegiatan pengabdian yaitu ibu-ibu nelayan di Kampung Holtekamp. Ibu-ibu nelayan di Kampung Holtekamp kurang terampil dalam mengolah produk ikan mentah sehingga solusi yang ditawarkan pada ibu-ibu nelayan di Kampung Holtekamp yaitu melakukan pelatihan pembuatan sosis dengan bahan dasar ikan Tuna sirip kuning dengan menggunakan teknologi sederhana dan tepat guna. Lokasi kegiatan pengabdian di Kampung Holtekamp, Distrik Muara Tami Kota Jayapura. Metode yang digunakan untuk menyelesaikan permasalah tersebut yaitu survey, wawancara, penyuluhan dan pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ibu-ibu nelayan di kampung Holtekamp mendapatkan pengetahuan baru tentang pembuatan sosis ikan tuna sirip kuning. Selain itu oleh Sekretaris kampung Holtekamp semua peserta dibentuk dalam satu tim pegolah sosis ikan di Kampung Holtekamp.
