Abstract

Study purpose. This study aims to analyse anthropometry in relation to the speed of 50-metre freestyle swimming among athletes at Haruna Swimming Club. The subjects in this study were 15 adolescent athletes aged 12 to 15 years. Materials and methods. The research method used was a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The independent variables analysed included height, weight, arm length, leg length, and hand width. The dependent variable was the time taken to swim the 50-metre freestyle, measured in seconds. Results. The analysis results showed that, simultaneously, all five anthropometric variables significantly influenced swimming speed (p < 0.05). Partially, arm length, leg length, and palm width showed a significant negative influence on swimming time, meaning that the larger the value of these variables, the faster the swimming time achieved. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study states that body characteristics or anthropometry play an important role in determining swimming performance in adolescent athletes. These findings can be used as a basis for athlete selection and the development of training programmes based on physical characteristics

Abstract

Study purpose. This study aims to analyse the risk of knee injury during the landing phase of the jumping smash movement in athletes from the CPLUSco Badminton Club in Semarang. The jumping smash is a highly explosive and effective attacking technique in the game, but it carries a high risk of injury, particularly to the knee joint due to the pressure exerted during landing. Materials and Methods. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method with a sample of 10 male athletes aged 14–18 years, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through motion capture using a Sony A6000 camera and analysed using Kinovea software version 0.9.5. The primary focus of the study was the landing phase, with biomechanical indicators including landing time (s), right and left knee flexion angles (°), and inter-leg distance during landing (cm). Results. This study found that the optimal landing duration was in the range of 0.20–0.36 seconds, but there was a mismatch in knee angle and foot position, which was a significant risk factor for knee injury. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study found that biomechanical evaluation needs to be conducted regularly to reduce the risk of injury.

Abstract

In developing the game of pétanque, it is necessary to master good basic techniques because this is the initial capital of an athlete to develop his game. Good mastery of basic techniques can also improve performance optimally. The purpose of this study was to analyze the accuracy of petanque pointing in a standing position at Atlas City Petanque Club (ACPC) athletes in Semarang City. The type of this study is descriptive-quantitative. The sample of this study was 8 athletes of ACPC club in Semarang city consisting one female and seven male athletes. Inclusion criteria in this study was having experience at national or international levels competitions and having trained for at least 6 months. All sample also sign the inform consent as a agreement to participate the research until the end. The results of this study indicate that the analysis of the pointing accuracy in standing position by ACPC club athletes in Semarang City is in the Precise Category, with an average distance of the ball to a target was 0.14 meters. Pointing in a standing position is very effective for a distance of 9 meters due to the ideal body position with a long throw distance from the target. The limitation of this study only focuses on the throwing distance produced by each athlete, so it has not been able to analyze every value generated from each athlete’s throws. Further, research can analyze the backspin technique of pointing in a standing position to complement the current research data.

Abstract

Background: Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) often occurs after intense physical activity and can limit subsequent performance. While common recovery methods such as ice therapy, stretching, and anti-inflammatory medications are widely used, they may not always be effective or free of side effects. Massage therapy—particularly the petrissage technique—offers a promising alternative by improving blood circulation, reducing muscle tension, and accelerating tissue recovery. Research Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of petrissage massage manipulation in reducing DOMS-related pain, offering a practical and non-invasive recovery method. Methods: A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants experiencing DOMS were recruited from Klinik Satu Sehat. Pain levels were assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality and a paired sample t-test to examine the effect of the massage treatment. Finding/Results: The study found a 38.7% reduction in pain levels after applying petrissage massage, indicating a significant improvement in muscle recovery. This reduction reflects the positive impact of increased blood flow and muscle relaxation facilitated by the massage technique. Conclusion: Petrissage massage manipulation is an effective technique for alleviating DOMS pain. It enhances blood flow, reduces muscle stiffness, and supports faster tissue healing. Future studies are encouraged to test this method across different populations, such as trained athletes and sedentary individuals, to explore potential variations in its effectiveness.
