Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution introduces a new paradigm that emphasizes synergy between humans and technology across various fields, including library service management. Library service management based on local wisdom is the transformation of libraries into modern knowledge centers that preserve cultural identity. This paper attempts to analyze the readiness for integrating local wisdom into innovative library service management in the face of the 5.0 Industrial Revolution, as well as the challenges libraries face in addressing the 5.0 Industrial Revolution. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative approach. The results of the study indicates most libraries realize the importance of integrating local wisdom with technology. Some libraries are still in the transition phase toward library digitalization. Services related to local wisdom are still provided in various forms: manual, hybrid, and digital. Limitations in human resources, gaps in digital infrastructure, financial constraints, the professionalism of librarians, policies supporting cultural digitalization—both in terms of funding and respect for the rights of indigenous communities—and the digital literacy of library users remain issues that need to be addressed. The integration of local wisdom services and technology holds great potential for society and the academic world, which continues to evolve through digital humanities research. Therefore, a cross-sectoral collaborative approach is needed to achieve a harmonious implementation between modern library services and cultural preservation.

Abstract

Students (santri) attending Dayah and separated from their families frequently experience negative emotions, including difficulty adapting to a new environment and a longing for the atmosphere of home, a condition referred to as homesickness. One of the factors that influences homesickness is loneliness. This study aims to examine the relationship between loneliness and homesickness among santri at dayah. This study employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The instruments used in this study were the loneliness scale and the homesickness scale. The sampling technique employed total sampling, encompassing all 90 santri at the dayah, aged 13 to 19 years, enrolled in grades 7 through 12. This study employed quantitative analysis using Pearson’s product moment correlation test. The results indicated a highly significant positive relationship between loneliness and homesickness among santri at the dayah, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.644 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This implies that higher levels of loneliness are associated with higher levels of homesickness, and vice versa.

Abstract

Studies on children's emotional well-being in dual-career families have proliferated, yet the integration of Carl Whitaker's Symbolic-Experiential Family Therapy (SEFT) with Islamic values remains largely unexplored, particularly within the Indonesian cultural context. This study addresses this gap by constructing an integrative conceptual framework that bridges SEFT principles with Islamic epistemology as a response to children's emotional problems in dual-career families. This research employs a systematic integrative literature review method, utilizing thematic analysis of peer-reviewed articles sourced from Google Scholar, ERIC, and DOAJ databases (2013–2024), with inclusion criteria focused on family therapy, children's emotional regulation, and Islamic counseling. Findings reveal three key propositions: (1) children's emotional difficulties in dual-career families are non-deterministic and mediated primarily by the quality of parental emotional responsiveness, not merely the quantity of time; (2) Whitaker's therapeutic mechanisms authentic emotional expression, symbolic communication, and catalytic therapist involvement align structurally with Islamic principles of Siddiq (truthfulness), Amanah (parental responsibility), and Hakam (mediator) as in QS. An-Nisa [4]:35; and (3) this study contributes the SEFT-Islamic Family Counseling Framework (SIFT-Framework) a novel integrative model equipping counselors with culturally and spiritually grounded tools to restore family sakinah amid modern career pressures. This framework addresses a gap in existing Indonesian Islamic counseling literature by operationalizing the correspondence between experiential therapy and Islamic epistemology.   Keywords: Symbolic Experiential Therapy Carl Whitaker, Children's Emotional Dynamics, Dual-Career Families, Islamic Values, Integrative Framework.

Abstract

Children are among the most vulnerable groups affected by hydrometeorological disasters because of their limited psychological coping capacity. Disaster-related traumatic experiences may cause emotional distress, impaired social interaction, and disrupted psychosocial functioning. This study explored the implementation of community-based Psychological First Aid (PFA) through therapeutic group activities to support the psychological well-being of children affected by flooding in Gampong Pulo Lhok, Ulim District, Pidie Jaya Regency, Indonesia. A qualitative study with a thematic design was conducted involving 60 elementary school-aged children (7-12 years) selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using participant observation, semi-structured interviews, field notes, and documentation and analyzed using Braun and Clarke thematic analysis. Four major themes emerged: (1) reduction of psychological distress, (2) enhancement of positive emotional expression, (3) restoration of social interaction and psychosocial functioning, and (4) emergence of hope and optimism. Community-based PFA contributed to improving emotional regulation, strengthening peer interaction, fostering a sense of safety, and facilitating children's adaptive expression of traumatic experiences. From the perspective of Islamic Guidance and Counseling, these findings indicate that community-based PFA can be integrated with Islamic values, including rahmah (compassion), ta'awun (mutual assistance), and raja' (hope), to provide a holistic psychosocial support model for children affected by disasters. This study contributes to the development of community-based crisis counseling practices within the framework of Islamic Guidance and Counseling.
