Abstract

Manduro Village has a similar name to Madura Island. The similarity of the name positively correlates with the likeness of language and local culture. They call themselves Oreng Manduro 'Madurese'. The language used by residents is the Madurese Language (after this referred to as ML). This study aims to look at variations of language from the social perspective, in the form of age and ethnic main variables. Of the two variables, changes in ML spoken by adults with what children say and how social contact affects these changes are also examined. This research is descriptive-qualitative research with the leading theory of socio-dialectology. The research data was taken from the informants selected by purposive sampling using the Swadesh list. Data retrieval technique is by recording and note-taking. The results show that ML that is spoken by adults and children has a difference. Differences are seen in phonological terms so that they appear to cause the differences and changes in both. From the total data found, phoneme changes significantly occur in phonemes / ? / to phonemes / ? /. Phonemes / ? / are phonemes spoken by ML speakers of adult age, while phonemes / ? / are phonemes spoken by children in the same lexicons.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the representation of multiculturalism about the complexity of the Tengger tradition. This study used a qualitative approach to the design of ethnography. The data of this research are in the form of folkloristic expressions manifested in utterances or symbolic behavior. Sources of data in this study were native speakers of Tengger. Data were collected using observation and interviews. The data obtained were then analyzed through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research findings show that multiculturalism can be represented in various Tengger tradition. Some of them are present in karo celebration performance that contains traditions of gantenan cecelukan, andon mangan, and nyandaran. Instead of these traditions, the tolerance value is also indicated in sayan tradition, such as sayan hajatan, sayan of farming, sayan of building a house, and sayan of building a place of worship. The multicultural Tengger community recognizes the concept of desakalapatra, a different custom in every Tengger region. However, by the existence of traditional support, these differences were able to be managed well. The Tengger people became more open-minded in understanding and accepting any differences between them through multiculturalism and tolerance of desakalapatra value. The solid religious tolerance in the Tengger tradition is also affected in bonding the harmony. As a result, Tengger people are always unity both culture and tradition, though they believe diversity subsistence around them.

Abstract

AbstractThe wealth and abundance of Tengger's natural resources is very promising, but the local community is not productive enough and not good at utilizing their abundant natural resources, one of which is the tamarillo (terong belanda). In the beginning, the community had produced processed tamarillo in the form of syrup. However, the production of the tamarillo syrup has stopped in a few years. The reason is the problems that exist in the production and marketing process. In addition, the more critical existence of tamarillo plant due to mass logging also threatens the business productivity that is being pioneered by the community. Furthermore, the Tengger environment is also threatened by its balance. This article focuses on the productive economic empowerment of the Wanamerta Village community, Tosari Village, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency through the use of Dutch eggplant as a base for developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the local community. The steps taken are (i) counseling, training, and preservation of Dutch eggplant juice, (ii) Dutch eggplant training and nursery action. Through these steps it is expected to grow awareness of independent entrepreneurship by making the potential of local natural resources as assets as well as raw materials for production. Furthermore, this effort is directed at building a culinary tourism dish that relies on local culture as well as being conservative towards nature.
