Abstract

The number and type of microorganisms in the soil indicate soil fertility. The use of fertilizers can affect the growth of microorganisms in the soil. Quantitative tests are conducted to evaluate how fertilizers affect the presence of bacteria, fungi, and algae. The number of bacteria and fungi is calculated using the standard plate count method, while the number of algae is calculated using the most probable number method. The highest number of bacteria found in urea-phosphate-potassium (UPK) applications of zeolite polymers is 50%, which is 3.4 × 106 CFU/mL; the most fungi are found in 25% of applications, which is 2.5 × 104 CFU/mL. In contrast, the highest algae population was in control soils, 2.7 × 104 CFU/mL. However, for treatment, an enormous amount is found in the administration of 50% zeolite polymer UPK as much as 1.4 × 103 CFU/mL, so it can be concluded that the administration of UPK zeolite polymer affects the number of microorganisms on the cornfield. Abstract

Organic fertilizers contain complete nutrients needed by plants, such as humic acid and fulvic acid, that can promote plant growth and increase the population of beneficial microbes in the soil. Algae can be an organic fertilizer in extract preparations that can increase plant growth and improve soil composition. The calculated number of microbes from the soil on corn land with the application of algae extracts affects the population of soil microbes both by standard plate count (SPC) and most probable number (MPN) methods. The total number of bacteria by SPC in the control soil was 3.1 × 105 CFU/g, while the total fungus was only 1.7 × 104 CFU/g upon applying 5% algae extract. The most microalgae by MPN in the control ground was estimated to be 2.6 × 104 cells/g. Therefore, the application of algae extract affects the number of soil microbes on corn land compared to control soil. The algae extract reduces the number of bacteria and algae but increases the number of fungi on cornfields. Keywords: algae extracts, cornfields, soil microbes

Abstract

The potential of methane and nitrous oxide productions and community structure of methanogenic archaeahas been characterized by incubation studies and PCR-DGGE approaches, respectively. The results showed thataddition of straw into the soil was the most important factor that influenced CH4 production in this incubation 4 experiment, while N2O production was observed higher in soil without straw amendment under saturated 2 condition. Most of the clone sequences revealed from DGGE band was associated with a archaea lineage,Methanocellales ord. nov (Rice Cluster I). Other sequences belong to Methanomicrobiales, Methanosaetalesand Rice Cluster 2 (RC-2). The study also showed that the hydrogenotrophic methanogens were the dominant members in methanogenic archaea community obtained from tropical paddy field soil, while acetoclastic methanogens present in relatively minor quantity in the soil.

Abstract

The students’ learning results in Biology are influenced by two factors, namely internal and external factors. The internal factors that can influence learning results are learning style, learning independence, and learning interest. The research aims to discover the relation of  learning style, learning independence and learning interest with Biology learning results of the students at SMAN 1 Tonra in Bone District.The research is ex post facto. The population of the research were the students of class IPA at SMAN 1 Tonra in Bone District of academic year 2016/2017. The samples were 194 students taken by using stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected by employing questionnaire and documentation. The data of the research were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics techniques. The results of the research reveal that (i) the students’ learning style tends to be in visual type, (ii) the students’ learning independence is in high category, (iii) the students’ learning interest is in high category, (iv) the students’ Biology learning results is in high category, (v) there is strong relation between learning style and the students’ Biology learning results, (vi) there is fairly strong relation between learning independence and the students’ Biology learning results, (vii) there is strong relation between learning interest and the students’ Biology learning results, and (viii) there is very strong relation between learning style, learning independence, and learning interest toword Biology learning results of the students at SMAN 1 Tonra in Bone District.

Abstract

Abstract. Slaughterhouses (RPH) produce large amounts of solid waste every day and have not been utilized optimally. RPH solid waste has great potential to be used as plant fertilizer through the composting process. Composting is expected to change the organic material composition of the abattoir solid waste to be more ideal to support plant growth. This study aims to determine the chemical composition of compost made from waste at RPH Tamangapa Makassar City before and after the composting process. Composting from solid waste at Tamangapa RPH Makassar was carried out using the main ingredients, namely rumen contents (treatment I) and rumen contents mixed with livestock manure in a ratio of 1:1 (Treatment II). The composting process was carried out in a compost box with a size of 40x40x60 cm with a passive aeration system for 4 weeks with three replications. Quantitative data tested in this study included the content of N-total (%), C-Organic (%), P-total (%), K-total (%), C/N ratio, organic matter (%), water content (%) and compost reduction (%). The results showed that the content of elements C, N, P, K, C/N ratio, organic matter, and water content before composting in both treatment I and treatment II were generally still low and almost the same as the raw materials. After the composting process took place, the content of C, P, K, C/N ratios generally showed an increase, while the N content was relatively constant. The results of the analysis showed that there was no significant difference between the chemical composition of the compost in the treatment and both before and after the composting process.Keywords: RPH solid waste, composting process, chemical composition of compost, C/N ratio.

Abstract

Abstrak. Makanan yang bergizi seimbang dapat diperoleh dari sumber makanan yang mengandung karbohidrat, protein, lemak, vitamin dan mineral. Salah satu pola hidup sehat yang baik diterapkan dengan rajin mengonsumsi sayuran. Salah satu desa yang menjadi mitra dalam Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah desa Sokkolia yang terletak di Kabupaten Gowa. Desa ini memiliki banyak pohon kelor yang tersebar dibeberapa tempat, namun, karena akses informsasi yang kurang menyebabkan tanaman kelor hanya dimanfaatkan sebagai tanaman pagar dan diolah menjadi sayuran yang kurang memiliki daya tarik dan tidak memiliki nilai ekonomis serta variatif. Tujuan dari kegiatan PKM ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang diversifikasi olahan daun kelor menjadi olahan yang menarik, bergizi dan bernilai ekonomis. Pelatihan pembuatan diversifikasi daun kelor menggunakan teknologi sederhana. Pada pelaksanaan kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat diperoleh hasil: (1) Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat Desa Sokkolia, Kecematan Bontomaranu, Kabupaten Gowa tentang diversifikasi olahan daun kelor yang bergizi dan bernilai ekonomi dalam meningkatkan potensi masyarakat Desa Sokkolia berskala mikro, (2) Penilaian dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini diperoleh rerata skor keseluruhan 4,26 (dengan kriteria baik).  Kata kunci: Kemitraan Masyarakat, Pemberdayaan, Diversifikasi, Daun Kelor,Pelatihan

Abstract

DOWNLOAD PDFPenelitian  ini  bertujuan  untuk  mengetahui kadar  nitogen  tanah  dan  pertumbuhantanaman bayam yang diberi pupuk kompos Azolla. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancanganacak kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri atas 2 kelompok, dimana tiap kelompok terdiri atas 4perlakuan dan  1  kontrol  dengan  3  ulangan.  Parameter  pengamatan adalah  pertumbuhantanaman bayam yang meliputi tinggi tanaman (cm), berat kering tanaman bayam (gram),kadar amonium (NH4+) dan nitrat (NO3-) pada tanah serta kadar nitrat (NO3-) air lindihan.Hasil  penelitian  menunjukkan  bahwa  pupuk  kompos  Azolla  mulai  berpengaruh  nyataterhadap  tinggi  tanaman  sejak  pengamatan  minggu  ke-tiga  dan  berpengaruh  nyata  pulaterhadap berat kering tanaman bayam. Pemberian pupuk kompos Azolla berpengaruh nyataterhadap kadar amonium dan nitrat tanah masing-masing pada minggu ke dua dan mingguke  dua  dan  ke  empat.  Disamping  itu  pemberian  pupuk  tersebut  juga  berpengaruh  nyataterhadap kadar nitrat pada air lindihan.Kata kunci : Pupuk kompos Azolla, pertumbuhan tanaman bayam, nitrogen tanah

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk menyeleksi (screening) bakteri penambat nitrogen non simbiotik yang diisolasi dari rhizosfer tanaman jagung (Zea mays L.) dan padi (Oryza sativa L.) yang memiliki kemampuan mengekskresikan amonium. Sampel diambil dari daerah Mangkoso, Kabupaten Barru, Provensi Sulawesi Selatan pada daerah rhizosfer tanaman. Isolasi bakteri penambat nitrogen dilakukan dengan menggunakan medium pertumbuhan bebas nitrogen yaitu medium Burk’s dan Ashby. Koloni bakteri yang tumbuh pada medium pertumbuhan selanjutnya dimurnikan dan diuji kemampuan ekskresi amoniumnya dengan menggunakan metode spectrophotometry. Isolat bakteri yang memiliki kemampuan mengekskresikan amonium dikarakterisasi secara morfologi dan fisiologis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 20 isolat bakteri yang mampu tumbuh pada medium bebas nitrogen, namun setelah dilakukan uji ekskresi amonium hanya diperoleh 9 isolat yang memiliki kemampuan mengekskresikan amonium dari masing-masing medium pertumbuhan. Isolat bakteri dan konsentrasi amonium yang diekskresikan masing-masing adalah ABJ211 (179 µg/L), ABP213 (269 µg/L), ABP211 (162 µg/L), ABP131 (254 µg/L), ABP242 (104 µg/L), BBJ221 (263 µg/L), BBJ222 (272 µg/L), BBP222 (269 µg/L) dan BBP214 (257 µg/L). Kesembilan isolat tersebut memiliki karakteristik morfologi dan fisiologis yang bervariasi terutama pada sifat struktur dinding sel (gram), kemampuan hidrolisis pati, gelatin dan kasein, sementara kemampuan dalam mereduksi nitrat dan H2O2 (reaksi katalase positif) serta fermentasi glukosa menunjukkan karakter yang seragam.Kata kunci: Bakteri Penambat Nitrogen, Non Simbiotik, Ekskresi Amonium, Karakterisasi Morfologi dan Fisiologis

Abstract

DOWNLOAD PDFDescriptive research was done to know the contents of lead (Pb) in tea leaf (Camellia sinensis) at top, under hills as well as soil of tea plantation at top and under the hills in Malino district. The Variable of these researches was lead content in tea leaf at top and under the hills. Another variable was soial of tea plantation at the top and under hills. The samples were taken from six stations, which were 1, 2, and 3 stations at top hill and 4, 5 and 6 stations at under hill. The leaf sample that taken was small sprout. Lead content was analyzed by using Absorption Automatic Spectrophotometer.  The results showed that mean content of lead in tea leaf at top hill was 3,4 µg/kg and mean content of lead at under hill was 5,7 µg/kg. The mean content of soil at top hill was 8,4 µg/kg and the average Pb content of soil at under hill was 7,5 µg/kg. After calculated by Mann-Whitney test found that there was difference Pb between concentration in the leaves on tea plants at top and under hills. There was no differences between lead concentration in soil at the top and under of hills. Test correlation with Spearman Rank found that there was correlation between Pb contents in the leaf of tea plants on the hill with soil at the hill. Study also showed that no correlation between lead content at tea leaf and soil at under of the hill.   Key words: Tea leaf (Camellia sinensis),  lead (Pb),  Malino tea plantation.

Abstract

Penelitian merupakan eksperimen semu, yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan media alat peraga pada materi sistem peredaran darah kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bulukumba. Hasil analisis sttistik menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata hasil belajar untuk siswa kelompok eksperimen sebesar 79,3 dan kelompok kontrol sebersar 69,6, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh penggunaan media alat peraga terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi sistem peredaran darah kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bulukumba.Kata kunci:  Media Alat Peraga, Hasil Belajar, Sistem Peredaran Darah
