Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using video tutorial media in improving student learning outcomes on the material of welding machine parts functions at SMK IPT Karangpanas, Semarang. The research method used was a true experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 44 students of class X Machining Engineering who were randomly divided into an experimental group of 22 students and a control group of 22 students. The data collection instrument used was a multiple-choice objective test given before and after treatment. The experimental group received learning using video tutorials, while the control group followed conventional learning. The results of the independent sample t-test on the post-test showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.001), with an average score of 85.23 for the experimental group and 68.86 for the control group. The normality and homogeneity tests met the requirements of parametric analysis. The results of the N-Gain analysis showed a high increase in the experimental group (0.7670) and a moderate increase in the control group (0.4741). These findings indicate that video tutorials are effective in improving students' conceptual understanding and technical skills and are suitable for use as an alternative learning strategy in vocational education.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) analyze the feasibility of PowerPoint multimedia on the topic of lathe machine parts; 2) test the effectiveness of PowerPoint multimedia on the topic of lathe machine parts; and 3) analyze the improvement in student learning outcomes after the application of PowerPoint multimedia on the topic of lathe machine parts. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design pattern experimental method. The data collection technique in this study used a test. Post-test data analysis techniques include descriptive analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, right-tailed t-test, and N-Gain test. The results of the validity and reliability tests indicate that the developed multimedia is suitable for use in learning. Based on the results of the t-test, the t-value obtained was 10.013, greater than the t-table of 1.699, indicating a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. The average post-test score of the experimental class reached 80.00 (78%) with a high category, and the N-Gain analysis showed a greater improvement in learning outcomes compared to the control group.

Abstract

Learning assembly techniques in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) subjects in Vocational High Schools (SMK) requires media that supports interactive visualization to facilitate understanding of complex technical concepts. The limitations of conventional media in bridging this need encourages innovation in the use of learning technology. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of flipbook-based media in improving students' understanding of assembly engineering material. The method used was a quasi-experimental with a two-group pretest-posttest design, involving 40 eleventh-grade students of Mechanical Engineering at SMK Negeri 5 Semarang. The experimental group used flipbooks as a learning medium, while the control group received conventional learning. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental group based on posttest scores (p < 0.05) and an N-Gain value of 64.15%, compared to the control group, which only achieved 43.27%. Thus, flipbooks proved effective in improving students' understanding of assembly engineering material in a more flexible, engaging, and contextual way.

Abstract

The low achievement of students' cognitive learning outcomes in the material of the function of milling machine parts indicates the need for innovation in learning media that is more interactive and adaptive to the characteristics of vocational high school students. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of interactive e-modules in improving student learning outcomes in the subject of Machining Engineering. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design type involving two classes of XI Machining Engineering at SMK Negeri 1 Karangawen as the experimental group and the control group. The main instrument is a 20-item multiple-choice test that has been validated using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and its reliability tested with the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Data analysis included normality test, homogeneity test, two-tailed t-test on pre-test, one-tailed t-test on post-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups in the pre-test (p = 0.762), but there was a statistically significant difference in the post-test (p < 0.001), with an average value of 81.25 for the experimental group and 72.50 for the control group. The average N-Gain of the experimental group reached 0.5515, higher than that of the control group at 0.3543. These findings indicate that interactive e-modules are effective in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes on conceptual and visual materials. Thus, interactive e-modules are worthy of recommendation as alternative digital learning media in vocational education, especially to strengthen the technical understanding of vocational high school students in accordance with the demands of technological developments and the needs of the industrial world.

Abstract

The nozzle tester, which is commonly used in the automotive engineering program at SMK N 1 Kedungwuni, is in a leaking condition, limiting its effectiveness in supporting learning and consequently affecting student learning outcomes. This issue is the main reason for conducting research on the development of a nozzle tester using a recycled jack, aimed at enhancing the learning of conventional diesel engine systems. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model for development. The research method used is a pretest-posttest group design. The findings of the study include: (1) the developed teaching tool was considered feasible by media and subject matter experts, with content validity ratio (CVR), content validity index (CVI), and percentage of agreement (PA) analyses; (2) product trials showed a high level of effectiveness, demonstrated by the Independent Sample t-Test, where the N Gain Score resulted in a significant (2-tailed) value; and (3) the reproducibility coefficient (Kr) and scalability coefficient (Ks) both indicate that the application of the nozzle tester in the conventional diesel engine system learning process is very practical. The conclusion of this study is that the nozzle tester can significantly improve the learning outcomes of conventional diesel engine systems.

Abstract

A common issue in the practical learning of light vehicle electrical systems is the inadequate availability of voltage sources, particularly batteries, in terms of quality and quantity. As a result, most students, after being assessed, receive scores that do not meet expectations. To address this issue, an alternative voltage source is needed to replace the battery, ensuring that the practical learning process for the light vehicle electrical system runs smoothly. This study aims to develop a practical tool using a computer power supply to improve the learning outcomes of the light vehicle electrical system. The research employs the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The experimental method used involves a pretest and posttest group, comparing the experimental class and the control class, consisting of 72 students. The results show that the practical tool using a computer power supply has a significant impact on the learning outcomes of the light vehicle electrical system, as analyzed through a one-tailed t-test. Based on N-Gain Score calculations, the tool is effective in improving learning outcomes, achieving high-level results. The conclusion of this research is that the practical tool using a computer power supply can replace the role of a battery as a voltage source in light vehicle electrical system practices.

Abstract

Proving the validity of research instruments is very important. The success of research is largely determined by the validity or invalidity of the instruments used. The validity of the instrument greatly affects the accuracy of the measurement results. The basic principle of research instruments is to measure what will be measured. The purpose of proving the validity of the instrument is to ensure that the instrument reflects the theoretical concept. Proof of validity in this study includes instrument content validity, item validity, construct validity. Proof of content validity using the Aiken V formula. This research involved 7 expert judgements to validate the developed ethics instrument. The results of data analysis obtained the coefficient value V is valid. Proof of item validity using the pearson correlation product moment formula with the criteria r count> r table. The study involved 386 students so that the criterion r count> 0.113 with a significance of 0.05. Proof of construct validity using the exploratory factor analysis method and all items are valid by obtaining a KMO value of 0.811> 0.5 and each item obtains an anti-image correlation value> 0.5 and based on the analysis of Initial Eugenvalues Comulative terbahadap 20 statement items obtained five components whose value is > 1.

Abstract

The 21st century is a century where science and technology develop very quickly and sophisticatedly, therefore in the development of the 21st century, teachers must be able to utilize technology in learning which can form a creative, innovative, and competitive generation. This research aims to test the validity and reliability of the e-module based on expert assessment, test the e-module in improving student learning outcomes, and analyze the improvement of student learning outcomes regarding the use of the e-module. This research model applied ADDIE. The subjects of this research were 35 students of XI grade students in culinary program at SMK Negeri 1 Kudus. The research results showed that the Android-based e-module considered feasible by media experts and material experts with CVR results > 0.75. The use of e-modules in learning depicted an improvement in learning outcomes through the results of the t-test and N-gain test of 76.25%. Based on these results, Android-based e-modules were effectively applied in the learning process to improve student learning outcomes. Meanwhile, the practicality test of e-modules portrayed the percentage of user responses from teachers and students gained 85% and 82% so the e-module learning media was categorized as very practical to use in the learning process. Based on the research results, e-module developed had been declared feasible, practical, and effective to use in processing and serving appetizer dishes learning and could improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The utilization of OP-AMP as controllers for temperature sensors plays a crucial role in both the manufacturing and automation sectors. Nevertheless, traditional learning approaches often fail to engage students, leading to diminished interest and lower academic performance. To address this issue, an interactive learning media based on Android technology is being developed, aimed at enhancing current teaching methods and improving students' understanding of OP-AMP applications in temperature sensor control. The objectives of this study are threefold: (1) to analyze the viability of the developed learning media, (2) to evaluate the impact on learning outcomes, and (3) to compare the learning improvements between this new media and traditional teaching methods. The research follows the ADDIE model, with data collection carried out via pre-tests and post-tests. Media feasibility was evaluated using CVR and CVI tests, while the cognitive test's validity was measured through Aiken's V and ICC. Data analysis employed a two-tailed t-test and N-Gain calculation. The study involved 72 eleventh-grade students from the Industrial Electronics Engineering program at SMK NU Ungaran. Results indicated that the Android-based interactive learning tool was highly effective, with a CVR above 0.75, an Aiken's V score of 0.90, and an ICC value of 0.797. Moreover, this learning media significantly enhanced students' academic performance, with a t-value of 30.234 and a p-value of 0.000. The experimental group saw a 74.4% improvement in learning outcomes, compared to 67.4% in the control group, demonstrating the media’s effectiveness in teaching OP-AMP applications.

Abstract

This study addresses challenges in the learning process of manufacturing engineering drawing elements, including insufficient student engagement, monotonous teaching methods, suboptimal learning media, and low student achievement, with 60% failing to meet the minimum competency standards. The primary objective of this research is to develop relevant, interactive multimedia to enhance learning outcomes in the design of complex assembly drawings, assess the feasibility of the media, evaluate student responses, and compare its effectiveness to other instructional methods in improving academic performance and student motivation.The research employed the ADDIE development model and was conducted at SMKN 1 Semarang, focusing on 11th-grade students in the Mechanical Engineering program. A total of 90 students from three classes participated, with each class receiving different instructional treatments. Students completed motivation questionnaires during the learning process, while those using interactive multimedia were asked to provide feedback on their experience with the media.The results indicate that the interactive multimedia developed is feasible and effective, as evidenced by expert evaluations and highly positive student responses. The application of interactive multimedia, integrated with a problem-based learning model, was more effective than video-assisted lecture methods and problem-based learning models. This study concludes that using interactive multimedia in conjunction with problem-based learning significantly enhances student learning outcomes and motivation. The innovation of this research lies in integrating interactive multimedia for teaching manufacturing engineering drawing elements
