Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of the Group Investigation (GI) learning model on student outcomes in Social Sciences. The research employs a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, also known as the two-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study includes students from SMP Negeri 1 Banjar, totaling 372 students. Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling. The sample consists of class VIIIA1 as the experimental group and class VIIIA2 as the control group. Data collection utilized pretest and posttest with multiple-choice questions. The analysis methods employed are descriptive statistics and t-tests. The results indicate that the average score for the experimental group was 53.28 with a completion rate of 9.38% on the pretest, which increased to an average score of 81.88 with a completion rate of 93.75% on the posttest. For the control group, the average score initially was 53.59 with a completion rate of 6.25% on the pretest, and improved to an average score of 73.91 with a completion rate of 81.25% on the posttest. It is evident that the experimental group achieved higher scores compared to the control group following the implementation of the Group Investigation cooperative learning model. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Group Investigation cooperative learning model positively affects student outcomes in Social Sciences.

Abstract

The advancement of technology has supported the implementation of e-portfolios in students speaking performance, which can be described as a digital tool where students can collect and store their projects online for quick access as long as their devices have an internet connection. However little is known has qualitatively explored how e-portfolio influence students’ cognitive development in relation to their speaking performance. It is thereby leading to a lack of literature on this topic. This research, therefore, aims to examine how e-portfolios will influence cognitive development in students’ speaking performance using a qualitative method. A phenomenological qualitative study design consisting of note-taking and semi-structured interview methods was used to obtain data from 33 eleventh-grade students ranging between 17-18 years old. The interview data were analyzed using inductive thematic analysis; meanwhile, the note-taking was analyzed using content analysis to support the thematic analysis. The result showed that the students had a cognitive development on their speaking performance in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency. Moreover, students showed the benefits of peer feedback in e-portfolio activities, which enhanced their awareness and led them to identify strengths and weaknesses as well as to recognize the area for improvement in their speaking performance.

Abstract

The rapid development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), particularly ChatGPT, has transformed educational practices and created both opportunities and challenges in teacher education. This study explores how pre-service EFL teachers use ChatGPT to develop their Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) while maintaining academic integrity during teaching practice. Employing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the research involved 100 survey respondents and 10 interview participants from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Bali. Data were collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews and analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results revealed that pre-service teachers frequently used ChatGPT to explore digital tools, design lesson plans, and create interactive learning activities, indicating that ChatGPT functions as a pedagogical partner in supporting TPACK integration. Moreover, the findings showed that pre-service teachers demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles in AI use by paraphrasing, modifying, and verifying AI-generated content to ensure originality and avoid plagiarism. These practices reflect their ability to balance innovation with responsibility in digital learning environments. The study concludes that integrating AI literacy and ethical reflection into teacher education curricula is essential to prepare pre-service teachers as adaptive, reflective, and integrity-driven educators in the era of artificial intelligence.
