Abstract

Abstract: Self-directed learning is a person's readiness or willingness to learn independently which consists of an attitude component that takes the initiative to learn with or without the help of others. This study aims to find out how the use of the WKWK Japan website in self-directed learning based on the generative theory by Huda (2014) in the Nihongo Shokyuu course by Japanese Language Education students FKIP UNRI batch 2020. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research was conducted by conducting interviews with data sources. The data sources in this study were 7 students of the 2020 Japanese Language Education FKIP Riau University who took the Nihongo Shokyuu class and used the WKWK Japan website in self-directd learning. Abstract

Abstract:This research aims to understand the motivation to study of the year first college students in FKIP department of Japanese Language of Riau University on the subject of Choukai 1. This research used descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The respondents on this research was 38 of the year first student college students in FKIP department of Japanese Language of Riau University. The result suggests that the motivation to study Choukai is considerably high which is based on the also considerably high score percentage of 78.2%. In this research it is known that the motivation to study is divided by two categories which are innate study motivations, and acquired study motivations. the percentage of intrinsic learning motivation scores was 78.64% and the percentage of extrinsic learning motivation scores was 77.6%.Key Words:Motivation, Learning Motivation Choukai

Abstract

Abstrak: This study describes research and development of the song for student help to learn Japanese vocabulary. The menthod is able for self-study, learning and memorizing vocabulary by the song. This study aims to help if research and development menthod is suitable by the standar of the expert/validator for class learning. The procedures are 1) potential background, 2) data-collecting, 3) planning, 4) product development, 5) validation, and 6) product revision. Data-collecting methods are distributes the questionnaire then collects the result done by media and material experts/validators. The validation results of the songs are Doraemon song received 80% of material and 91,6% of media, Ninja Hatori song received 79,1% of material and 91,6% of media, and P-Man song received 87,5% of material and 66,6% of media, the three songs are suitable for learning and memorizing the vocabulary words.Key Words: media-learning, song, vocabulary, research and development

Abstract

Abstract : This research is a research about the analysis of verb error kudasaimasu and itadakimasu by the class 2015 students of Japanese Language Education Study Program University of Riau academic year 2017/2018. The purpose of this research is to measure students understanding of the use of verb kudasaimasu and itadakimau. Then, to know the difficulty factor in understanding the use of these two verbs. This research used quantitative descriptive method by using survey as the research design. The data were obtained by using test and questionnaire by the respondents. This research was done as a quantitative research in the field of education. All data processed using statistic method and the result converted by descriptive method to describe the result. Based on the results of the test, it can be seen that the average value of the use of these verbs is 53,2 . The test results show that the highest score is 76 and the lowest score is 36. It’s mean that students still often make error to use it in conversation and answer questions. It is supported by the questionnaire result that students experience containts in using verb kudasaimasu and itadakimasu. According to the questionnaire results, the factors causing difficulties are some students still do less exercise and repetition of verb kudasaimasu and itadakimasu so that student’s memory of the use of this verb be decline.Keywords : verb errors,kudasaimasu, itadakimasu

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to find out the level of the first year students of SMK Labor Binaan FKIP Universitas Riau in vocabulary mastery. The sample of this research is ADP 2 which was choosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The number of the student is 30 students. The data obtained by giving multiple choice test. About the test, the students are asked to choose the appropriate vocabulary based on the context of the test. The test consist of 7 indicators of vocabulary. There are synonym, antonym, collocation word, noun, verb, adjective and adverb. The result shows that the students score in vocabulary mastery is 54.79, and the students have problem in verb with mean score 32.26 % of correct answers and adverb with mean score 44.99%. In conclusion, from the result above shows that the students’ vocabulary mastery level of SMK Labor Binaan FKIP Universitas Riau is in mediocre level..Key Words: Study, Vocabulary, Mastery

Abstract

Abstract: This descriptive research were intended to find out the ability of the second grade students of SMA PGRI PEKANBARU in writing descriptive texts. The sample of this research were 30 students that was taken by using cluster sampling. And, the data was collected by giving written test. The test was scored based on Hughes’s assessment for all writing aspects including grammar, vocabulary, mechanics, organization, and fluency. Based on the students’ score, the level ability of the second grade students of SMA PGRI PEKANBARU in writing descriptive texts is good by getting 64 at the average score. In description, there is one student (3%) who got excellent level by getting 85 score. Then, 18 students (60%) reached good level and 11 students (37%) reached mediocre level. None of students are in poor and very poor level. Moreover, the students are still lack of practiced in writing descriptive text for each writing aspects. Most of them lacked of vocabularies and fluency aspects, but they are good at organization and mechanic aspects. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the ability of the second grade students of SMA PGRI PEKANARU in writing descriptive texts is good and they need to be more practiced in writing.Keywords: Hughes’ Assessments, Descriptive Text, Students’ Writing Ability

Abstract

Abstract: This research was the speaking ability of male and female students of SMAN 2 Bangkinang in describing pictures.The aim of this research was to know the differences between speaking ability of male and female students of SMAN 2 Bangkinang in describing pictures.The population of this research is the second grade of SMAN 2 Bangkinang. The data were collected by administring the speaking test to 23 male students and 23 female students who were selected by using proportional random sampling method. In conducting this research, there were 4 different pictures which used to know the students’ speaking ability in describing pictures based on five aspects: pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. To get the quantitative data in this research, the three raters were involved to give the scores of students’ speaking ability. From the result of the speaking test in five aspects of speaking ability, the writer concluded that there are differences between speaking ability of male and female students of SMAN 2 Bangkinang in describing pictures. However, the difference between male students and female students is significant. It is convinced by the statistical result of the hypothesis test. The test by means of t-test formula shown that t calculated = 5,18 > ttable = 2,015 at 95% level of significance by 44 degrees of freedom

Abstract

Abstract: This pre-experimental research is aimed to find out whether there is a significant effect of students’ speaking ability after using Role Play technique in teaching speaking at the first year students of SMP Negeri 9 Bintan. The research problem is: Can the application of role play technique improve the speaking ability of the first year students of SMP Negeri 9 Bintan?. The design of the research was one group pretest-posttest design and the research was conducted at SMP Negeri 9 Bintan. Cluster random sampling method was used to select one class of students to become the sample. As a result, 34 students of class VIIB at the first semester of academic year 2016/2017 were chosen as the samples. The steps applied in using role play technique are: (1) The teacher introduced the activity by explaining the material, making sure that all the students understand it (2) Teacher and students discussed about relevant  vocabulary, sentences, or dialogues based on the material (3) Students were divided into groups (4) The teacher gave role card for each students to act out (5) The students familiarize themselves with their roles in a few minutes (6) Students constructed the dialogue based on their roles with their friends and practiced their own dialogue in a few minutes to familiarize them with the language (7) Teachers let the students act out the role play and exchanged their roles without interrupting or correcting (8) Teacher evaluated and checked students’ comprehension. The instrument used was a speaking test and the obtained data was analyzed by using SPSS version 21.0 for Windows. The results of data analysis are t-test (17.16) was higher than t-table (2.042). This indicates that there is a significant effect of students’ speaking ability after being taught using Role Play technique in teaching speaking.

Abstract

Abstract: This pre-experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of “find the difference” game on speaking ability of the second year students of SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru. This research was conducted toward the second year students of SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru from October to November 2015. The researcher used cluster random sampling technique to determine the sample. The sample was class VIII.4 which consisted of 23 students. The data was collected by giving a pre-test and a post-test to students in the form of picture describing. The data was assessed by three raters and analyzed by using SPSS 18. The result of the reserch showed the different score in the pre-test and the post-test was 27.42. The score of the pre-test was 45.62 and the score of the post test increased to 73.04. Moreover, from statistical analysis, it was found out that the t-test 23.320 was bigger than t-table 2.074 at level significance of 0.05. It means that there was a significant effect of “Find the Difference” game on the students’ speaking ability. Therefore, it can be concluded that applying “Find the Difference” game is effective to improve students’ speaking ability.Keywords:”Find the Difference” game, Speaking Ability

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to find out whether there is a significant effect of concept mapping on the students’ ability of SMPN 14 Pekanbaru in writing descriptive texts. This is a pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design. In conducting this research, a single group was selected to be a sample by using cluster random sampling. There were 36 students as the sample. A writing test was used both in pre and post-test. In order to know the difference between pre-test and post-test and to analyze the hypotheses, t-test formula was used. After analyzing the data, it was found that t-test score was 7.779 while t-table score in significance level 5% df= 34 was 2.032. Since t-test was higher than t-table, it can be concluded that alternative hypothesis was accepted. It can be further understood that “there is a significant effect of concept mapping on the students’ ability of SMPN 14 Pekanbaru in writing descriptive texts”. Based on the research findings, it is suggested that concept mapping can help the students to improve their writing ability especially in writing descriptive text.Key Words: Effect, Concept Mapping, Writing Ability, Descriptive Text
