Abstract

The involvement of Catholics in socio-political life in Indonesia is getting dimmer. The appreciation of the people's faith tends to be focused on inward fellowship, not outward. Whereas the call to become Catholics in Indonesia demands the active involvement of all communities as a contribution to the wealth of the nation's pluralism. This is influenced by the liturgical life which does not touch the struggles of daily life. The liturgy seems to return to Old Testament worship which distances people from celebrations, and worship seems to be a special business for the clergy. The true liturgy is a celebration of the entire community so that it becomes the source and peak of the Christian life. Therefore, this study aims to make the liturgy a celebration of all the people as stated in the Canon Law of the Catholic Church Canon 837. In this way, liturgical celebrations bring renewal of people's lives so that people are increasingly called to manifest their faith through their involvement in socio-political life in Indonesia. This research uses literature study from the perspective of phenomenology. This study found a link between the people's active participation in the liturgy and their involvement in community life.

Abstract

The research aims to confirm faith for everyone to survive the storm of the Covid-19 Pandemic and not lose their faith. Therefore, it takes a figure who can be an example of how to deal with suffering. One of the figures who can be an example is Mary the mother of Jesus. Maria in her life has shown how suffering does not prevent her from surrendering herself more to God. Mary shows how to behave as a believer by making suffering as an opportunity to surrender more and more to God's will. Through total submission to God Mary grew in a firm faith in God so that suffering did not prevent her from seeing God's plans and works behind the suffering she received. This research uses library and interview methods. Interviews were conducted by telephone or video call. This study finds that by reflecting on Mary's faith, the faithful are not trapped in the reality of suffering but find God's grace behind suffering so that humans do not despair and lose their faith. Therefore, Christians are invited to reflect on Mary's faith.

Abstract

The research focuses on exploring the meaning of Emanuel Levinas' ethics of face in illuminating the immorality that occurs in war. For Levinas, humans are "being-for-the-other"; beings who exist in the world for others. Levinas proposes how "being-for-the-other" always has the nature to be responsible for the presence of other humans with sorge (care). On the other hand, humans often become power-hungry "animals", which can only be obtained if they conquer others, especially in this case, is war. Humans are increasingly showing a life of utter disregard for other human beings by constantly waging war. Therefore, exploring facial ethics and humanitarian responsibility according to Levinas' thought will find intersubjective attitudes that humans can internalize to realize other humans as existences who also have experiences and feelings, are valuable and precious. The method used in the research is qualitative method through literature study. This research found that face ethics gives intersubjective understanding to every human being. The contribution of this research is to understand that war is immorality; which is the destructiveness of humanity that violates the principles of intersubjectivity and humanitarian responsibility.

Abstract

Populism arose in the midst of an unfavorable economic situation and the failure of moderate politicians to solve the problem. This tension is used by populist leaders and parties to rule and control the opposition. They use religious sentiments and sectarian identities to win popular support. Based on this, the research of this study aims to elaborate on the issue of popoulism in global politics, how religious conservatism develops and the example of Trump's populist leader who shows the close relationship between religious conservatism and populism. The methodology used in this study is literature research with a phenomenological approach to the development of populist politics in relation to religious conservatism both in the global political arena as seen in Trump's political campaign using religious sentiment. The same issue is used when campaigning for regional head elections in Indonesia. Faced with this phenomenon, Indonesia sets its sights on Pancasila as the foundation in building brotherhood and unity. Pancasila was born from the hope that the Indonesian nation could be siblings to one another despite their diversity. Abstract

This paper examines human actions within social media interactions, with a particular emphasis on the phenomenon of cyberbullying from the perspective of ethical philosophy. The focus of this study is not on the entire scope of ethics in human life, but specifically on evaluating whether cyberbullying can be categorized as morally good or bad according to ethical principles. In everyday life, such actions are often carried out unconsciously by the perpetrators, and many even deny having committed them, due to a lack of understanding about the various forms of cyberbullying. This study employs a qualitative method in the form of a literature review, analyzing various scholarly works and previous studies to explore how ethical philosophy can serve as a framework for assessing the moral value of human behavior in digital spaces. Through this approach, the paper aims to provide a deeper ethical understanding of cyberbullying and to foster critical awareness within society in evaluating and reflecting upon online behavior in contemporary social life.

Abstract

The story of the fall of man is told dramatically in Genesis 3: 1-24. This story illustrates how humans abuse their freedom as rational beings who are called to love God and others. Human disloyalty to this calling causes humans to be expelled from Eden. The fall into sin not only makes humans lose guarantees and protection but also brings suffering. In this situation, Satan uses the state of sin to tempt people to do evil. Therefore, this research aims to find the origins of evil and human efforts to get out of the shackles of sin. Because the fall of humans into sin is caused by humans listening more to the tempter (satan) than God. This study uses the method of literature study. This research finds that God is not the cause of human suffering but rather the human rejection of God's love. So, to obtain happiness, humans must get out of the shackles of sin by using free will to fight the temptations of the evil one.

Abstract

"Indonesia is a state of law", reads the 1945 Constitution, article 1 paragraph 3. This means that all aspects of life in society and state affairs are governed by law. This research discusses the legal inequality in the Ferdy Sambo case and its relation to the transcendetal aspects of metaphysics; Unum, Verum, Bonum and Pulchrum. The purpose of this research is to clarify the injustice and manipulation of power carried out by Ferdy Sambo and to reveal the important influence of the values of Unum, Verum, Bonum and Pulchrum in an effort to emphasize legal identity and efforts to realize justice. The approach used in this research is literature analysis related to the topic of discussion and empirical normative studies. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that legal policies that should reflect justice and truth are often not in accordance with the reality in society. Law is often manipulated for personal interests, especially by individuals who have access and power in it. One of the efforts to restore the law is to instill legal awareness based on the values of Unum, Verum, Bonum and Pulchrum.
