Abstract

Fungal diseases pose a substantial risk to the health and productivity of rubber plants (Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex A. Juss.) Mull. Arg., the primary source of natural rubber. The diverse fungal pathogens responsible for these diseases lead to significant economic losses in rubber plantations, threatening the global rubber supply. This review provides a comprehensive examination of major fungal diseases affecting rubber plants, focusing on their identification, scientific analysis, and management strategies. Conventional methods for pathogen identification, while valuable, often lack the efficiency and precision required for effective disease control. Recent advancements in molecular diagnostics, genomics, and biotechnology have greatly improved the accuracy and speed of pathogen detection, enabling more targeted and sustainable management practices. Integrated pest management, mainly through the use of disease-tolerant clones, is emerging as a viable alternative to chemical fungicides. Although chemical fungicides remain the most widely used solution due to their accessibility and effectiveness, their environmental impact and potential for resistance necessitate a shift toward sustainable practices. While biofungicides offer a more environmentally friendly option and are already in use, they are currently limited to small-scale plantations and have yet to be adopted for large-scale production. Efforts to develop resistant clones through molecular studies and advanced cloning techniques are ongoing, representing the most sustainable approach for combating fungal diseases in rubber plantations. By synthesizing current knowledge and advancements, this review underscores the pressing challenges in managing fungal diseases and the opportunities presented by innovative technologies. The findings aim to guide future research and promote the development of efficient, sustainable strategies for maintaining rubber crop health, ensuring consistent production, and safeguarding the economic stability of the rubber industry.

Abstract

Background: Students in healthcare are expected to face high clinical and academic stressors that may influence their psychological well-being and academic achievement. Resilience plays a significant role in helping students navigate these challenges while maintaining their well-being. The research examines the relationship between psychological well-being, resilience, and academic achievement among Universitas Brawijaya healthcare students in a blended learning environment. Methods: A cross-sectional research design was employed, and 302 students participated through purposive sampling. Data were collected through the Academic Resilience Scale (ARS-30) and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale, with GPA as an indicator of academic performance. This study was reported in accordance with the STROBE guidelines. Results: A strong positive relationship between resilience and psychological well-being (r = 0.615, p < 0.01), highlighting the focus on resilience as an effective protective factor. There was, nonetheless, no significant correlation between resilience and GPA (r = -0.006, p = 0.913).. Conclusion: Among the psychological well-being factors, environmental mastery, autonomy, and purpose in life contributed significantly to academic resilience. These findings suggest that cultivating psychological well-being, particularly ecological mastery and self-acceptance, can enable resilience in online learning environments.

Abstract

In order to create an antisense construct of the gene encoding Ornithine Decarboxylase (ODC) from tobacco (Nicoticum tabacum L.) cv. Temanggung, the target gene must be isolated. In this paper. we present the PCR amplification of a fragment from putative gene encoding ODC from tobacco cv. Temanggung. Leaf genomic DNA was isolated and used as the template for PCR. PCR optimization was done by adjusting the annealing temperature and the cycle number. Verification of the fragment obtained was also done using the second primer pairs.

Abstract

Background: Timely management in the emergency department (ED) is critical for patient safety and quality of care. Prolonged Length of Stay (LOS) in the ED, often linked to delays in patient processing, can lead to poor outcomes, particularly in high-risk populations. This study aims to explore the time-related factors influencing LOS using the Time Range Guidance Model. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted, analysing 377 patient records from June to August 2025. Data were extracted from electronic medical records (EMR), focusing on time intervals for initial assessment, review/consultation, and transfer phases. Multivariate regression was used to identify the factors influencing LOS. Results: The review/consultation time (β = 0.3, p < 0.001) and transfer waiting time (β = 0.356, p < 0.001) were significant predictors of LOS. The model explained 22.6% of the variability in LOS (Adjusted R² = 0.226). Initial assessment time did not significantly correlate with LOS (r = 0.045, p = 0.321). Conclusion: Delays in the review/consultation and transfer phases have a greater impact on ED LOS than the initial assessment. These findings suggest that optimizing these phases can improve ED efficiency and patient outcomes, particularly in resource-constrained settings such as Indonesia.

Abstract

Adolescents undergo a phase of complex developmental transitions, where this has an impact on increasing vulnerability to emotional and behavioral problems. However, the high prevalence of mental health problems in adolescents is not accompanied by high behavior seeking help regarding adolescent mental health literacy. Orphanages are considered as places that are able to assist and guide the development of adolescents physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually and culturally. Activities to strengthen emotional mental health provide scientific input in psychiatric nursing courses to strengthen mental nursing interventions in adolescents so that they have optimal psychosocial health development. This activity aims to improve the function of peer groups living in orphanages in influencing adolescent mental health. The form of activities carried out is in the form of socializing the roles and functions of peer groups regarding mental health, stress management and adolescent conflict management. It can be concluded from the results of this activity that the role of mental health leaders who are in orphanages plays an important role in strengthening emotional mental health in peer groups.
