Abstract

Fish diseases are one of the primary challenges faced by fish farmers, including tilapia fish farmers using tarpaulin ponds in the village of Kramajaya, West Lombok. Fish diseases can lead to significant losses in the fish farming business. Therefore, education on the management of fish diseases is essential to assist farmers in safeguarding their fish stocks and ensuring the success of their aquaculture endeavors. This endeavor aims to provide education to tilapia fish farmers using tarpaulin ponds in Kramajaya village, West Lombok, regarding the management of fish diseases. The education methods employed encompass the dissemination of information about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of fish diseases, along with aquaculture practices that can help mitigate the risk of diseases. The results of this education show an improvement in the knowledge of fish farmers regarding the management of fish diseases. They become more aware of the signs of fish diseases and are capable of taking appropriate preventive measures. Furthermore, they also understand the importance of maintaining water quality and the cleanliness of tarpaulin ponds as disease prevention measures. This education also provides a better understanding of the use of medications and proper medical actions in case fish diseases occur. Consequently, fish farmers can respond more promptly and effectively to fish diseases, which, in turn, can enhance the production of tilapia fish and the overall success of their aquaculture businesses.

Abstract

Abstract

Puyahan Hamlet in South Lembar Village is one of the traditional crab peeling centers (Portunus pelagicus) on the west coast of Lombok Island. Women in the informal work system dominate this activity without social protection or quality standards. Despite playing an important role in Indonesia's crab export supply chain, women peelers still face major challenges in technical and institutional aspects. This service activity aims to increase technical capacity and strengthen the institution of women crab peeler groups through training in the processing of fishery products based on the principles of food sanitation and facilitating the formation of legal business organizations. The methods used include participatory social mapping, technical training based on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), group institutional formation, and participatory evaluation. The results of the training showed a significant improvement in participants' hygiene understanding and practices, with an average pre-test score of 35.4 and a post-test score of 82.1. In addition, the establishment of organizational structures and institutional legalization allowed groups access to advanced training and wider economic opportunities. This intervention has been proven to be able to encourage behavior change, strengthen women's socio-economic position in the fisheries value chain, and support the gender empowerment agenda in coastal areas in a sustainable manner. The program recommends replication in other coastal areas with a gender-responsive participatory approach to strengthen the economic resilience of women's fishing communities.

Abstract

Platy fish is freshwater ornamental fish which has beautiful color so it has high aesthetic and economic value, belonging to a type of fish called the “live bearer” or having the ability to give birth. Current problem faced by platy fish farmers are the low production to meet the rising market demand. This causes the lack of ability to reach the desired production target. This research evaluate the effect of giving Oodev through feed to the amount of production of larvae platy fish Xhiphophorus sp. with different dose. The research used completely randomized design with treatment of different Oodev dose which were P1 (0 ml/kg fish), P2 (0,5 ml/kg fish) P3 (1,0 ml/kg fish) and P4 (1,5 Mml/kg fish) each repeated three times. Oodev hormone was given through feed two times a day with feeding rate (FR) 3%. Results showed that the giving of OODEV could raise the number of larvaes produced by female parent with the highest number of 29,33 larvaes on the P3 and lowest treatment as much as 15 larvaes at P1 (P<0,05). The number of larvae produced by the female parent P3 treatment provides the best results with total larvae amount of 176 or average each treatment of 58,76 larvaes.

Abstract

The COVID-19 outbreak is a non-natural disaster and has an impact on learning continuity. This study aimed to find the reality of the continuity/discontinuity of learning of primary education students in East Lombok during student isolation in the prevention of COVID-19. Data obtained through surveys and interviews with 198 respondents representing school principals, teachers, students, parents, and the community. According to the Bayesian Approach to Learning Causal Networks, the data were analyzed descriptively through frequency distribution and causal analysis. It was found that 57.07 % of respondents claimed they did not know the purpose of the isolation policy, so it was not explained. Exactly 54.76 % of respondents admitted to isolation as a holiday, 54 % of respondents admitted to playing to their heart's content during the isolation period, 88.77 % of respondents admitted that this policy was not coordinated, and 100 % of respondents admitted that they did not maximize the function of online learning. The contextual condition of this isolation period is a causal event between a lack of understanding of the policy intent or P (A), causing unclear instructions, or P (B). Unclear teacher instruction or P (B) causes students not to study at home during isolation, or learning discontinuity occurs, with code P (C). Lack of understanding of the intent of the isolation policy, or P (A) causes this policy not to be coordinated with interested parties. Due to unclear instructions, the utilization of online learning, or P (E) is not optimal. The study results are urgent and have implications for the policy of learning from home as well as the coordination pattern of educational stakeholders in the COVID-19 phase.

Abstract

Cupang fish (Betta sp.) are included in the variety of freshwater ornamental fish with attractive and beautiful colors and bodies. However, male betta fish are more desirable. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of immersing betta fish (Betta sp) broodstock using three different types of honey on the percentage of male fish through broodstock immersion. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely P0 (control), P1 (forest honey), P2 (livestock honey), and P3 (mangrove honey), so there were 12 experimental units. Analysis of the percentage of male sex was carried out using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's test. The calculation results show that the percentage of male fish in forest honey, livestock honey, and mangrove honey are 76%, 74%, and 92%, respectively. The results of the calculation of the survival rate ranged from 50 – 53%, the fecundity value ranged from 160 – 245 eggs, the hatching rate ranged from 53 – 58%, the absolute weight growth showed a relatively similar value, namely 0.61 – 0.70g, and the weight growth specifically shows a value of 2.84 - 2.90%. The water quality parameter values of temperature, pH and DO obtained during the study were still in optimal conditions for betta fish maintenance. Thus it can be concluded that the treatment using mangrove honey is the treatment with the highest effectiveness value for directing the sex of betta fish (Betta sp) to male.
