Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the physical fitness of elementary school students, particularly the relationship between nutritional intake levels, physical activity, and learning motivation with students’ physical fitness. The background of this study is the increasing inactivity in physical activities, the low nutritional status and physical fitness test results, and the reduced duration of physical education (PJOK) lessons at the elementary school level. The method used was a quantitative approach with a correlational research design to analyze the relationship between nutritional intake levels, physical activity, and motivation toward students’ physical fitness. Data were collected using questionnaires and physical fitness tests. The population and sample consisted of 350 students from seven public elementary schools in Jati District, Kudus Regency. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. The results showed that: (1) the relationship between nutritional intake levels and physical fitness was not significant (p = 0.204), where the average nutritional intake was in the “moderate” category with a total of 265.8 kcal, far below the daily requirement of 500 kcal; (2) there was a significant relationship between physical activity and physical fitness (p = 0.008), indicating that a lack of physical activity negatively affects physical fitness; (3) motivation did not show a significant effect on physical fitness (p = 0.173), with external factors having higher values compared to internal factors; and (4) overall, there was a significant influence of the combination of nutritional intake, physical activity, and motivation on the level of physical fitness (p = 0.003). In conclusion, there is an influence of nutritional status, physical activity, and learning motivation on students’ physical fitness. The better the nutritional status, physical activity, and learning motivation of students, the better their level of physical fitness will be. Abstract

Background: The limited research on the determinants of performance in short-distance trail running in tropical environments is a major problem in understanding the influence of environmental conditions on runners' performance and pacing strategies. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the influence of race distance, sex, and age on trail running performance in the 5K and 10K categories of the Merapi Merbabu de Trail 2025.Methods: A retrospective observational race result analysis was conducted using official race data from the Merapi Merbabu de Trail 2025. The study included 429 runners (5K: n = 144; 10K: n = 285), consisting of 275 male and 154 female participants. The primary outcome variable was finish time (in minutes), while the independent variables included race, distance, sex, and age. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 26, including descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-tests, Cohen’s d effect sizes, and multiple linear regression to evaluate predictors of performance. Results: Results showed a significant difference in performance between race distances. The mean finish time for the 5K category was 152.8 ± 44.3 minutes, while the 10K category averaged 306.1 ± 74.3 minutes (t = -26.68, p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 2.50). Male runners completed the 10K race faster than female runners (293 vs. 345 minutes). Regression analysis indicated that finish time increased by approximately 2–3 minutes per year of age, indicating a progressive decline in performance with increasing age. Conclusions: These findings indicate that race distance, sex, and age are significant determinants of trail running performance in tropical environments.

Abstract

Deviation from Linearity = 0,364).

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of participants’ success in achieving the Cut-Off Time (COT) in trail running, to compare patterns of COT achievement, and to provide technical recommendations for organizers in establishing more data-driven COT standards in order to enhance safety, competitive fairness, and operational efficiency of the event. The research method employed is a quantitative descriptive approach, which seeks to objectively illustrate the achievement of COT in trail running events. The subjects of this study were all participants in the 5K and 10K categories of the Merapi-Merbabu de Trail event. The results indicate that the success profile of runners in meeting the COT is influenced by demographic characteristics and endurance capacity, with higher success rates observed in the productive age group and a decline in older age groups. The comparison of COT patterns reveals variations in time achievement across different course segments, which are correlated with route difficulty, elevation conditions, and environmental factors. Therefore, COT should not be considered uniform but rather adjusted according to the specific characteristics of the terrain Keywords: Cut-Off Time, Participant Success Profile, Trail Running
