Abstract

This article examines the paradigm shift in the interpretation of the Qur'an. The main thesis in writing is that there is a paradigm shift in the approach to interpretation of contextualist figures and the need for a new paradigm to actualize interpretations. Therefore, this paper presents an explanation of how the construction and paradigm shift in the interpretation of contextualist figures; why the paradigm shift of contextual interpretation occurs, and what are the implications of this shift in the principles of the new paradigm of interpretation. This study is a literature review. As a sample of the data, there are five contextualist thinkers studied, namely Fazlur Rahman (Pakistan-America), Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd (Egypt-Netherlands), Farid Esack (South Africa), Abdullah Saeed (Maldives-Australia), and Sahiron Syamsuddin (Indonesia). Data were analyzed using comparative-relational analysis. This study concludes that the paradigm shift in interpretation cannot be separated from the influence of the sociopolitical and cultural context of each country. The paradigm of interpretation has shifted from a contextual approach to an actual-context approach. The latter approach emphasizes more on actual issues and solutions to national and state issues. This study also proposes a thesis that, different from the contextual paradigm that emphasizes the context of the Qur'an as a medium for understanding the text of the Qur'an, the actual-context approach emphasizes the text of the Qur'an as a medium for understanding the context of the Qur'an. It is because the text is actually a cultural representation of the reality of the time of revelation.   Artikel ini mengkaji pergeseran paradigma (paradigm shift) dalam penafsiran al-Qur’an. Tesis utamanya adalah ada pergeseran paradigma dalam pendekatan penafsiran tokoh kontekstualis dan perlunya paradigma baru untuk mengaktualkan panafsiran. Untuk itu, tulisan ini menghadirkan penjelasan bagaimana konstruksi dan pergeseran paradigma penafsiran tokoh kontekstualis; mengapa pergeseran paradigma penafsiran kontekstual terjadi, serta apa implikasi pergeseran tersebut dalam prinsip paradigma penafsiran yang baru. Studi ini merupakan kajian kepustakaan. Sebagai sampel data, ada lima pemikir kontekstualis yang dikaji, yaitu Fazlur Rahman (Pakistan-Amerika), Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd (Mesir-Belanda), Farid Esack (Afrika Selatan), Abdullah Saeed (Maladewa-Australia), dan Sahiron Syamsuddin (Indonesia). Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis komparatif-relasional. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pergeseran paradigma penafsiran tidak terlepas dari pengaruh konteks sosiopolitik dan kultural negara masing-masing. Paradigma penafsiran mengalami pergeseran dari pendekatan kontekstual ke pendekatan aktual. Pendekatan yang terakhir lebih menekankan pada isu aktual dan solusi atas persoalan kebangsaan dan kenegaraan. Penelitian ini juga mengajukan tesis bahwa jika dalam paradigma kontekstual lebih menekankan konteks al-Qur’an sebagai media untuk memahami teks al-Qur’an, pendekatan aktual lebih menekankan teks al-Qur’an sebagai media untuk memahami konteks al-Qur’an, karena teks sejatinya merupakan representasi kultural atas realitas masa pewahyuan.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji ulang kiprah “Tiga Serangkai” sebagai agen-agen penyebar Islam Wasthiyyah yang memimpin Pondok Pesantren Al-Munawwir Krapyak yang terkenal akan tradisi pengajaran dan pendidikan hafalan Alquran sepeninggal KH. M. Munawwir dengan memanfaatkan teori sosiologi milik Pierre Bourdieu. Konsep Wasathiyyah menjadi dasar dari konsep “al-Muhafdhotu ‘ala Qadimi al-Shalih wa al-Akhdhu bi al-Jadid al-Ashlah” yang bisa diartikan sebagai sikap toleran yang menerima perkembangan dan tuntutan zaman tanpa meninggalkan nilai-nilai dan tradisi luhur. Konsep ini juga diterapkan dalam pondok-pondok pesantren beraliran Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah seperti Pondok Pesantren Al-Munawwir Krapyak. Setelah wafatnya KH. M. Munawwir (Muassis Pondok Pesantren Al-Munawwir Krapyak) pada 1942 M, kepemimpinan pesantren Al-Munawwir dipegang oleh “tiga serangkai”: 1) KH. R. Abdullah Afandi Munawwir, 2) KH. R. Abdul Qodir Munawwir, dan 3) KH. Ali Maksum (yang baru pindah dari Lasem ke Krapyak di tahun 1943 M). Konsep-konsep dalam teori sosiologi milik Pierre Bourdieu yang digunakan dalam tulisan ini adalah habitus, modal, ranah, dan praktik. Melalui pembacaan ulang terhadap kiprah “Tiga Serangkai” sepeninggal KH. M. Munawwir Krapyak dengan menggunakan teori Pierre Bourdieu, didapatkan beberapa hipotesis sebagai berikut: 1) habitus yang terdapat dalam kisah “Tiga Serangkai” sebagai penerus estafet kepemimpinan Pondok Pesantren Al-Munawwir Krapyak adalah habitus “pesantren” yang memegang akidah (doksa) Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah, 2) Modal yang dimiliki “Tiga Serangkai” sebagai agen penyebar Islam Wasathiyyah adalah modal simbolik, modal ekonomi, modal akademis, modal politik, dan modal kultural, 3) Ranah yang menjadi tempat berkiprahnya “Tiga Serangkai” adalah pondok pesantren, lembaga masyarakat luar pesantren, dan lembaga nasional, dan 4) kiprah yang berarti praktik dalam kacamata Bourdieu di sini mengarah pada kiprah “Tiga Serangkai” di sisi internal (pesantren) dan sisi eksternal (masyarakat dan nasional)

Abstract

Poligami merupakan hal yang lumrah di kalangan para nabi pada berbagai masa, salah satu Nabi yang melakukan poligami ialah Nabi Ibrahim, poligami yang dilakukannya terdapat permasalahan yang kontroversial dalam ranah agama dan budaya. Adapun fokus pada penelitian ini terdapat pada dua kitab suci yaitu Al-Qur’an dan Alkitab, dimana keduanya memiliki pandangan yang berbeda dalam menceritakan poligami Nabi Ibrahim lalu alasan apa yang menyebabkan Nabi Ibrahim berpoligami. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis library research yang bertitik tolak memahami nilai komparatif historis yang mendasari poligami Nabi Ibrahim dalam pemaparan lintas agama. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari pesan poligami Nabi Ibrahim dalam Al-Qur’an dan Alkitab dapat disimpulkan bahwa poligami boleh dilakukan jika dalam keadaan darurat dengan mengikuti peraturan yang berlaku, Poligami sah karena seorang istri tidak dapat melahirkan anak sendirian, tetapi poligami yang dilakukan harus dengan izin seorang istri atau istri yang meminta suaminya untuk berpoligami. Dengan demikian Al-Qur’an dan Alkitab mengajarkan bahwa perkawinan yang ideal ialah perkawinan monogami, sebab poligami bukanlah suatu keharusan dan tidak boleh dilakukan sesuka hati tetapi dapat menjadi pilihan bagi mereka yang membutuhkannya, karena poligami menuntut pengabdian dan tanggung jawab yang utuh jika tidak akan menimbulkan konflik ketidakharmonisan didalam rumah tangganya.

Abstract

The high level of internet penetration during a pandemic allows people to be exposed and influenced virtually by radical ideologies. This study aims to provide an overview of the cyber radicalization process and communication patterns during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study utilized the literature review method by reviewing scientific journals, which was accomplished by criticizing, synthesizing, and summarizing the selected data. The results showed that during the Covid-19 pandemic, radical group ideologues spread propaganda via the internet and succeeded in increasing the radicalism sympathize and the number of lone wolves. The radical groups have extraordinary mass communication patterns. They spread radical ideology subtly and greatly influenced the masses. The pattern of intrapersonal communication arises, specifically the internalization of values based on learning, observation, and self-understanding. The radicalism process via the internet is effective media due to its ease, cheapness, and massive and broad spectrum. Straightforward access to radical content found on the internet and social media has led to the emergence of a lone wolf, a person who participates in radicalization by independent process and is not affiliated with any radical groups. This research contributes to completing data on radicalism issues by providing data support in developing strategies to prevent the spread of cyber radicalism.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pelaksanaan muatan lokal Bahasa Jawa Banten dalam Kurikulum Merdeka di SDN Kewunen, Serang, Banten. Pemilihan Bahasa Jawa Banten sebagai muatan lokal di SDN Kewunen ini didasarkan pada upaya pelestarian bahasa Jawa Banten. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian pelaksanaan masih dihadapkan pada berbagai kendala, adanya keterbatasan bahan ajar, kurangnya media pembelajaran interaktif serta mayoritas guru merasa perlu pelatihan lebih lanjut untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran. Siswa cenderung menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran ini, namun metode pembelajaran yang terbatas menyebabkan kurang optimalnya pemahaman dan keterlibatan mereka. Diperlukan pengembangan bahan ajar yang memadai, variasi metode pembelajaran, serta evaluasi yang lebih beragam untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran Bahasa Jawa Banten di sekolah dasar.Abstract: This study aims to analyze the implementation of Banten Javanese local content in Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Kewunen, Serang, Banten. The selection of Banten Javanese as local content at SDN Kewunen is based on efforts to preserve the Banten Javanese language. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. The results of the implementation research are still faced with various obstacles, there are limited teaching materials, lack of interactive learning media and the majority of teachers feel the need for further training to improve the quality of teaching. Students tend to show a positive attitude towards this learning, but limited learning methods cause less than optimal understanding and involvement. It is necessary to develop adequate teaching materials, a variety of learning methods, and more diverse evaluations to improve the effectiveness of learning Banten Javanese in primary schools.

Abstract

This study explores how the alumni of the Raudhatul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School in Metro City contribute to community empowerment through the Living Qur’an framework. The research aims to examine the effectiveness of alumni-led initiatives in sustaining religious knowledge and practices in a city undergoing cultural and religious transitions. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach and a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with alumni and pesantren caregivers, as well as documentation of institutional and community activities. The analysis employs Jim Ife’s community development theory and Robert D. Putnam’s social capital theory to assess how alumni utilize social trust, norms, and networks to promote Quranic values within society. The findings reveal a distinct model of Living Qur’an-based community empowerment implemented through three main strategies: active community participation, social justice, and local capacity building. The study concludes that the alumni effectively preserve and revitalize Quranic culture by leveraging their social capital, reinforcing the potential of religious institutions as drivers of community development in urban transitional contexts. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic education, social cohesion, and faith-based community empowerment in contemporary urban settings.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the meaning of tijārah and the concept of trade in the Qur'an through a literary approach (al-manhaj al-adabī) developed by Amīn al-Khūlī. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a library research design, this study analyzes various primary and secondary sources, such as the Qur'an, books of tafsir, scientific books, journals, and related academic works. The data obtained is processed through the stages of reading, selecting, interpreting, and integrating the findings to produce a comprehensive understanding. The results show that the word tijārah in the Qur'an appears eight times, namely in Surah al-Baqarah/2:16 and 282, an-Nisā'/4:29, at-Tawbah/9:24, an-Nūr/24:37, Fāṭir/35:29, aṣ-Ṣaff/61:10, and al-Jumu'ah/62:11. Based on literary analysis, the term tijārah contains two main meanings: first, trading in the economic sense that involves potential profits and losses; second, spiritual commerce that describes the transactional relationship between man and God, which is metaphorical and always results in eternal benefits in the hereafter. Thus, this study confirms that the Qur'an not only contains the concept of trade in a worldly context, but also uses it as an ethical and spiritual symbol to build religious awareness in humans.

Abstract

The Qur'an is always positioned as the main source of social ethics in Islam. The problem is, there are several verses of the Quran that describe non-believers (infidels) as blind people. Such a way makes it as if the Quran marginalizes people with disabilities. Therefore, it is important to understand how the actual existence of the blind in a full context of the Quranic view. This paper uses a semantic approach in analyzing the word al-a‘mā and its various derivatives in the Quran. This study concludes: First, the Quran uses al-a‘mā more in a metaphoric meaning; not the blind of the eye, but the blind of the heart. Second, the Quran gives more appreciation to the people with disabilities and at the same time, it criticizes unbelievers during the Prophet's time.[Alquran selalu diposisikan sebagai sumber utama etika sosial dalam Islam. Masalahnya, ada beberapa ayat Alquran yang menggambarkan orang yang tidak beriman (kafir) sebagai orang buta (difabel netra). Cara demikian membuat seolah-olah Alquran memarginalkan mereka. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk memahami bagaimana sebenarnya eksistensi difabel netra dalam bingkai kesatuan wawasan Alquran. Tulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan semantik dalam menganalisis kata al-a‘mā dan berbagai derivasinya dalam Alquran. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan: Pertama, Alquran lebih banyak menggunakan al-a‘mā bukan secara fisik, tetapi tertutupnya hati. Kedua, Alquran memberikan penghargaan lebih kepada difabel netra dan pada saat yang sama Alquran melakukan kritik sosial terhadap orang-orang tidak beriman pada masa Nabi.]

Abstract

This research is predicated on the sociological necessity of understanding the various forms of lies that are still taken seriously by society. It seeks to critically examine the semantic interpretations of the terms Kādzib, 'Ifk, Zūr, Bāṭil as articulated in the Tafsir al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir by Ibnu 'Asyur. The research formulationis structured around two primary objects: 1) how ibn Asyur interprets the terms Kādzib, 'Ifk, Zūr, Bāṭil, and 2) how the hadith concerning the permissibility of lying is relavant to these meanings. Adopting a qualitative, library-based methodology, this study employs a thematic analysis method (maudhu'i). The primary source materials is Tafsir al-Taḥrīr wa al-Tanwīr by Ibn ‘Āshūr, supplemented by  a secondary source of relevant scholarly journals, monographs and theological treatises. The findings indicate that while these terms are oftern categorized under the broad umbrella of falsehood, each term has a distinct meaning depending on its context. According to Ibn 'Asyur, 1) Kādzib refers to act of deception. 2) 'ifk denotes major accusations or slander. 3) zūr refers to the distortion of information or testimonies that deviate from empirical reality. 4) bāṭil refers to any form of falsehood or something that lacks a foundation of truth. The Hadith that permits lying in three situations warfare, conflict resolutions, and the preservation of marital harmony. The study concludes that such exceptions do not constitute condemned mendacity, rather they serve as instruments of  maqāṣid al-syarī'ah to maintain social equilibrium and communal benefit. The scholarly contribution of this study lies in its systematic analysis of the varying gradations of lying through the lens of Ibn 'Asyur perspective. It offers significant insights into the development of thematic exegesis and provides a framework for the construction of social ethics, asserting that the morality of an utterance is intrinsically linked to its contextual purpose and its alignment with the preservation of public interest.
