Abstract

Ion chloride (Cl-) is an anion that can combine with several cations to form a water-soluble salt. High chloride content in water can accelerate the rusting process on metal. So that in this research the aim is to determine the optimum conditions for the absorption of chloride anions using silica. Adsorption using silica is able to absorb anions. However, modifications are needed to improve silica adsorption. In this study, Dimethylamine was used as a modifier and Glisidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane as a bridge between silica and dimethylamine. To determine the changes in the functional groups of silica, silica-GPTMS, silica-GPTMS DMA, and silica-GPTMS DMA with chloride ions, the FTIR test was carried out. The absorption step was carried out by varying the pH (6,7,8,9, and 10), contact time (30,60,90,120, and 150 minutes), and concentration (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 mg/L). . The results showed that the optimum conditions for absorption occurred at pH 7, contact time of 120 minutes, and a concentration of 20 mg/L with an absorption capacity of 0.250825 mg/g.

Abstract

Abstract — Research has been carried out on the study of the Pb(II) association complex using KI and Rhodamine B. This study aims to find the optimum conditions for the Pb(II) association complex such as iodine concentration, solution pH, and Rhodamine B concentration. The measurement method used is the UV spectrophotometry method. -Vis and AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer). Pb(II) is reacted with excess iodine to form an anion complex (PbI4)2-. The anion complex formed is then reacted with a Rhodamine B cation complex (RB+ ) to form an association complex [RB]2[PbI4]. The results showed that the optimum condition of iodine for the formation of the anion complex (PbI4)2-  at a time of 2 hours, a concentration of 0.4 M with an absorbance of 0.1069 A at a maximum wavelength of 266 nm. While the optimum conditions for the association complex [RB]2[PbI4]2- occurred at a wavelength of 555 nm with an absorbance of 0.3348 A, pH 5 with an absorbance of 3.4101 A and a concentration of Rhodamine B 0.001% with an absorbance of 2.2798 A. The resulting association complex contacted with Pb(NO3)2- at a concentration of 0.01 ppm succeeded in concentrating by obtaining a concentration of 0.7419 ppm and an absorbance value of 0.0108 A. So that a concentration factor of 74.19 times was obtained.

Abstract

The metal ion Cr(VI) is a very toxic substance with high solubility so that it can cause pollution to the environment. If the concentration of metal ions Cr(VI) exceeds the limit of 0.5 mg/L can damage ecosystems, the environment, poison living organisms and humans, then a method is needed to overcome the pollution caused by chromium waste. Biosorption is an effective and efficient method. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum conditions for the absorption and absorption capacity of Cr(VI) metal ions. metal ion Cr(VI) with dihenylcarbazide and H2SO4 will form a purple complex reaction. The maximum wavelength of Cr(VI) ion absorption was obtained at 543 nm. These results obtained optimum absorption conditions at an adsorbent mass of 0.6 grams with an absorption capacity of 12.7506 mg/g.

Abstract

The effect of activation types on the biosorpsion of pb2+ metal ions by matoa peel (Pometia pinnata) has been done. The purpose of this study was focused on the effect of the type of activator on the biosorpsion of pb2+ metal ions by the matoa peel (Pometia pinnata) with chemical activation to determine the technical and condition of the activator according to the matoa peel which can be used as a Pb2+ ion biosorbent. The method used is the batch method. The variables in this study were the type of activator and were characterized using the FTIR and AAS. The results showed that 0.1 M HCl was the best activator characterized by a decrease in % T of functional groups -OH, -CH and C-O which played an important role in the biosorption process, had the best Pb2+ metal biosorption capacity obtained from the AAS results, namely of 0.6462 mg/g with % biosorption 80.6239%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the optimum conditions for absorption of malachite green dye waste using matoa fruit peel biosorbent (Pometia pinnata) using a batch method with variations in particle size and contact time which will be tested with UV-Vis spectrophotometer instruments. Before being used as a biosorbent, matoa skin was activated first using 0.01 M HNO3. Activation of the biosorbent was carried out to improve the performance of the biosorbent because activation can enlarge the pores and volume of the biosorbent as well as the impurities contained in the biosorbent. The results showed that the optimum conditions for variations in particle size were 106 µm with an absorption capacity of 44.08 mg/g and a contact time of 90 minutes with an absorption capacity of 46.67 mg/g.

Abstract

Methylene blue is an aromatic hydrocarbon compound or thiazine dye with the chemical formula C16H18N3SCl which is most often used in industry, this cationic dye is very dangerous with a threshold value ranging from 5-10 mg/L in water and is difficult to degrade in the environment because it contains benzene compounds. The purpose of this study was to reduce the impact of methylene blue pollution on the waters. The adsorption method was selected in batches by utilizing plantation waste from matoa fruit peel as an adsorbent in the absorption of MB waste, because it is more effective, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly. Matoa skin contains cellulose and lignin, so it is considered potential to be used as an adsorbent. The results showed that the matoa skin adsorbent was able to adsorb methylene blue dye at an optimum contact time of 120 minutes and a stirring speed of 200 rpm, which was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 664 nm.

Abstract

The measurement methods in this study used are UV-Vis and AAS ( Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer). The Pb(NO3)2 solution is dissolved with excess iodide so that it forms a PbI42- anion complex. This anion complex is then reacted with the cationic dye methyl green forming an association complex [PbI4][MG].The result of this study is that the maximum wavelength of the PbI42- anion complex is at 267 nm with stability time of 2 hours. Then the iodide concentration is 0,333 M with an absorbance 0.795 then the maximum wavelength of the association complex [PbI4][MG] is 636 nm at pH 5 and methyl green concentration is 0.00013% and has a concentration factor 20,39 times.
