Abstract

Adsorbents that are often used in the adsorption process are silica gels. Silica gel has unique advantages such as being, having ion exchange ability, being stable at high temperatures, not floating on organic solvents, and being easy to modify. But the effectiveness of silica gel adsorption against metal ions is weak, so it needs to be modified on the surface of silica gel. The modifier used is a sulfonate group derived from a 4-amino-5-hydroxy-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonate salt using a glycosidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane linkage (GPTMS). The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum conditions for the Cd2+ ion with variations in pH and contact time. The results of the study obtained optimal conditions for the absorption of the Cd2+ ion at pH 5 and a contact time of 60 minutes.

Abstract

Chromium metal is a toxic and carcinogenic metal that needs to be addressed. Biosorption  can be used as one method to reduce lead metal level in waters. Biosorpsian is easy and simpler to use, more-ecomomial, and  environmentally friendly because it utilizes microorganisms and biomaterials. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of particle size and flow rate on the absorption of Cr6+ metal ions using langsat peel as a biosorbent. In this study, Cr6+metal ions biosorption  was carried out using langsat peel with column method at a particle size variation of 106, 150, 250 and 425µm  and a flow rate variation of 1-4 ml/min. the results of this study were obtained optimum conditions at particle size 106 µm and flow rate 2 mL/min with optimum adsorbtion capacity of 5,02363 and 6,96203 mg/g.

Abstract

Palm oil is one of the vegetable oils with the highest concentration of contaminants compared to other oils. The main components of palm oil are triglycerides which account for more than 95% and other components such as monoglycerides, diglycerides, free fatty acids, phosphatides and sterols. Beef in 100 grams contains fewer calories (498 kj), total fat (2.8 g), unsaturated fat (0.448 g), saturated fat (1.149 g) and cholesterol (50 mg) than goat meat of the same size .The nutritional composition of beef includes 18.8 grams of protein, 66.0 grams of water and 14.0 grams of fat. The aim of this research is to determine the physicochemical properties of packaged cooking oil produced from frying beef fat at certain temperatures and times. The physicochemical properties of the oil determined include density, flow rate, acidity index and saponification index. Bimoli cooking oil resulting from the frying process has a density value of 0.9205 gr/ml, a flow rate of 2.949 ml/s, an acid number of 3.06939 mgKOH/gr and a saponification index of 16.71005 mgKOH/gr. The results of this research indicate that the results of testing the physicochemical properties of packaged cooking oil have better values compared to the results of testing beef tallow cooking oil.

Abstract

Formaldehyde is a toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic and genotoxic compound that can harm the human body. Formaldehyde can threaten human health such as, can cause eye, nose and throat irritation and contact dermatitis on the skin. This research aims to study the response of pencil lead electrode (PLE) and pencil lead electrode (PLE) modification with gold thin layer in the development of formaldehyde sensor by using cyclic voltammetry. The electrode modification was done by potential-sweeping electrodeposition of Au on electrode and known as Au/PLE electrode. The resulting electrode has high conductivity and excellent catalytic activity because it is able to provide a large current response. In this study, the optimum conditions will be determined based on variations supporting electrolyte and cycle gold thin layer electrodeposition. Variations in supporting electrolyte and cycle for gold thin layer electrodeposition on the formaldehyde sensor give different peak current and potential results. KOH 0,1 M  is supporting electrolyte optimum and cycle for gold thin layer electrodeposition optimum is one cycle.

Abstract

Lead metal is one of the hazardous metals produced from industrial activities in Indonesia and can pollute the environment. The maximum level of Pb2+ ions in waters is 0.03 mg/L. If the Pb2+ ion level exceeds the predetermined level, it will have a harmful effect on the environment and living things. Adsorption is a method that can be used to reduce lead metal levels in water. The adsorbent that can be used is xerogel, which produced from durian peel (Durio zibethinus Murr.). The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum conditions of absorption and determine the absorption capacity of xerogel from durian peel against Pb metal. In this study, the batch method was used for the adsorption process by varying contact time and adsorbent contact mass. The results of this study obtained the absorption capacity under the optimum conditions of contact time of 60 minutes, and an adsorbent mass of 0.2 grams of 6.04 mg/g.

Abstract

Fe(II) Metal Ions are one type of heavy metal that is toxic resulting in pollution in the environment. In waters if Fe(II) ion exceeds the limit of 0.3 mg / L will cause damage to the ecosystem and the surrounding environment, so countermeasures are needed from pollution caused by Fe(II) ions. Biosorption using cellulose biosorbents extracted from durian fruit peel was chosen as one of the efficient methods. The purpose of this study can determine the absorption capacity of durian fruit peel and determine the optimum conditions for absorption of Fe (II) metal ions carried out by batch method with variations in pH and concentration. The optimum pH of Fe (II) metal ion absorption was obtained at pH 5 and an optimum concentration of 250 ppm with an absorption capacity of 4.3 mg / g.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to synthesize xerogel from durian peel waste by determining the optimal NaOH concentration for the synthesis process. The sol-gel method was employed, utilizing SiO2 as the main component and Na2SiO3 as the precursor. The sodium silicate precursor was obtained by reacting SiO2 derived from durian shell ash with NaOH solutions of various concentrations: 2 M, 5 M, 8 M, 11 M, and 14 M. The surface area of the resulting xerogel was tested, and the optimal NaOH concentration was found to be 8 M, yielding a surface area of 6637.8 m2/g. The synthesized xerogel was further characterized using FTIR analysis within the wave number range of 4000-600 cm-1. The FTIR data revealed the presence of silanol at a wave number of 3253.30 cm-1 and siloxane at a wave number of 1060.18 cm-1, confirming the successful synthesis of the xerogel.

Abstract

Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) is a popular medicinal plant from the Acanthaceae family and andrographolide was the main secondary metabolite with various biological activites including antioxidant. A. paniculata is one of the medicinal plants reported as potential host for endophytic fungi. This study aims to determine the potential of endophytic fungi associated with A. paniculata flower tissue as a source of antioxidant compounds. An isolate from the flowers of A. paniculata was coded as BS-1. Macroscopic observation of BS-1 fungi showed a white mushroom colony with a round shape in the middle and a slightly rough surface. Crude extract of endophytic fungi BS-1 showed the presence of phenolic compounds, terpenoid, steroids, and alkaloids. The antioxidant activity of fungal BS-1 expressed as IC50 and categorized as moderate, with IC50 results in the range of 101-250 ppm.

Cadmium is an example of a heavy metal that is dangerous and meeds to be addresses. Biosorption is one method that can be used to absorb heavy metal. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum conditions of ansorption and ansorption capacity of durian shell cellulose the absorption of Cd metal. In this study using a batch method and the test is measured using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) instrument and characterized by FTIR. In this study the parameters tested were variations in pH (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and concentration (50, 100, 150, 200, 250) ppm. The optimum conditions obtained in each variation were pH 4, concentration 200 ppm and contact time with a maximum adsorption capacity of 4,1 mg/g.
