Abstract

Current learning tends to use less varied and teacher-centered methods. The selected learning models and approaches have not been able to motivate students to be able to think critically, so that it affects the science scores in general that do not meet the minimum completeness limit The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of Schoology-assisted PBL-STEM by Environmental Pollution material in increasing critical thinking skills, as well as student learning outcomes. This study was conducted at Junior High School Maria Mediatrix with 4 classes sample, all of which were experimental classes with a total of 114 students. This study is a quantitative study with quasi-experimental study type. To determine the increase in critical thinking skills used the N-gain score test from the pretest and posttest results of four classes in the study that acted as experimental class. The results of the study and analysis can be concluded that critical thinking skills of students who are taught with problem-based virtual learning with STEM approach assisted by Schoology on Environmental Pollution material obtained an average N-gain score of 0.46, in moderate category, so that learning is said to be effective, and an average increase of indicator providing elementary clarification, building basic support and managing strategy and tactics has a higher N-gain score than inference. From learning completeness aspect, there are 94 students who complete individually, 82.5% of the students complete classically. This study can contribute to the development of virtual science learning, especially in the use of PBL-STEM model with better technical implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Bioedutainment strategy with Biofun Card's Support on learning outcomes and caring attitude for invertebrate diversity. This research is a Quasi-Experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study is all students of class X MIPA of Sint Louis Semarang High School in academic year 2017/2018 which is consisting of two classes. The sample is class X MIPA 1 as the experimental class and class X MIPA 2 as the control class which is determined by the saturated sample technique. The results show that the experimental class student learning outcomes are better than the control class. The experimental class has an average learning outcome of 84.37 with classical completeness of ≥ 85% which reached 93.10%, while the control class is 82.76%. The results of the t-test show tcount 0,000 <0.05,. This indicates that there are significant differences between the control and the experimental classes. N-Gain for the experimental class is ≥ 0.3 with an average of 0.70, while the control class is 0.51. The effectiveness level of the application of Bioedutainment strategy with Biofun Card's support shows students' caring scores of 82.76% (very caring). Students give positive responses to the application of Bioedutainment strategy with Biofun Card's support with an average of 88.95%. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that learning uses the Bioedutainment strategy with Biofun Card's support in invertebrate material to be effective in improving learning outcomes and caring for invertebrate diversity.

Abstract

Semirang tourism area has natural potential that can be utilized as a source of learning, one of which is seed plants. The Semirang area is located in Gogik Village, West Ungaran District, Semarang Regency with an altitude above 700 meters above sea level. Seed plants have important values for humans and the environment, among others; economic, aesthetic, educational, endemic, conservation, and cultural values. This study aims to identify the richness of the species of seed plants in the Semirang tourism area as a learning supplement for Plantae material in High School. This study was designed with a modified Research and Development (R&D) method. The results of the identification of seed plants in the Semirang tourism area recorded 88 species of seed plants which are divided into 5 divisions, 6 classes, 32 orders, and 48 families dominated by angiosperm. The precentage of gymnosperms is 5.68% and the precentage of angiosperms is 94.32%. E-catalog of seed plants that has been developed has obtained very suitable criteria for supplementing plantae material in class X-Matematics and Natural Sciences students. The result of the acquisition of 85.83% of material experts (V1); 97.81% of media experts (V2); and 73.50% of media experts (V3). Teacher responses received a score of 97.91%, student responses to the e-catalog obtained a precentage of 83.50% and student responses regarding attitudes of concern for plant preservation gained a precentage of 85.00%.

Abstract

The results of cognitive learning eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Semarang academic year 2014/2015 on a motion of plant material has not reached the classical completeness. This is due to the teaching materials used do not lead students to discover concepts, but only to give the concept. Therefore, it is necessary to have a model of learning and teaching materials to enhance the understanding of the concept that measures the cognitive learning. The problem can be overcome by learning to use the LKS-based guided inquiry in motion plant material. This research is the Research and Development (R & D) is modified. Small-scale trials conducted using 15 students drawn by stratified sampling, whereas large-scale trial using 36 students. The results showed that the development of LKS qualify as valid. Use of LKS is said to be effective for cognitive learning results showed 94.4% of pupils achieving the expected classical completeness. Use of LKS say practical because the response of teachers to achieve 75% categorized as practical, while the responses of students reached 80.5% in the category very practical, 16.7% in the category of practical, and 2.8% in the category enough. Based on the above results, it can be concluded that the LKS based guided inquiry valid., effective and practical to use learning materials plant motion.
