Abstract

Dengue fever is an infectious disease spread by the bite of the Aedes mosquito, especially Aedes aegypti. The fact that the Aedes aegypti mosquito often bites during the day during school activities, makes schools a potential location for the spread of DHF. To stop the spread of dengue fever, clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) can be implemented by washing hands properly, keeping classrooms clean, eating healthy food, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep. Other efforts are wearing a mask when in crowds, maintaining a safe distance, and using 3M-plus to prevent dengue, such as draining, covering, and burying. The purpose of this service is to educate junior high school students in Tambosupa Konawe Selatan Village about maintaining a clean school environment and avoiding various diseases, especially DHF, to increase their knowledge and skills regarding clean and healthy behavior (PHBS).

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore the effect of implementing the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Approach on the speaking ability of students-. The sample size for this study comprises 46 students representing the introvert class and the extrovert class, selected based on the results obtained from the distribution of questionnaires. To conduct the study, an experimental design was employed, which involved gathering quantitative data from the students' responses to the distributed questionnaire, as well as conducting pre-tests and post-tests to assess their speaking abilities. In order to analyze the collected data, the researcher utilized the SPSS program (Statistical Program for Social Science) for precise and efficient processing, generating various necessary outputs to draw meaningful conclusions. The findings of this study strongly indicate a positive impact of implementing the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) model on the speaking abilities of introverted students. The results not only demonstrate the effectiveness of CLT in the speaking class but also align with previous research in the field. the incorporation of CLT in the speaking class positively impacts the speaking abilities of both introverted and extroverted students. However, a slight distinction can be observed in terms of the extent of improvement between the two groups, with the extrovert class showing a more notable progress. Recognizing and accommodating the diverse learning styles and preferences of students can help create a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment that fosters growth and development for all learners, regardless of their personality traits

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to investigate the effect of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) technique through WhatsApp application on students’ reading comprehension and to investigate the usefulness of WhatsApp as a learning media. This study employed a quasiexperimental research design. A total of 27 participants from Senior High School 1 Tiworo Kepulauan, Muna Barat regency participated in this study. CIRC technique through WhatsApp was applied in teaching reading comprehension in the experimental group, while the control group attended conventional teaching without CIRC. Both groups learned the same materials. Pre-test was administered before treatment to examine students’ previous reading comprehension and posttest was administered immediately after the treatment. Findings of the research revealed that there was a significant effect of CIRC through WhatsApp Application on students’ reading comprehension. The gain scores of students attending CIRC were significantly higher than those of students attending conventional instruction, p = 0.002< 0.05. Results of the questionnaire suggested that WhatsApp was a useful learning media as far as the students are concerned.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of picture series, a visual media consisting of sequential images, on the writing achievement of VIII graders at SMPN 2 Sampara, considering gender and learning mode (WhatsApp vs. Conventional). The research aims to determine if there is a difference in writing outcomes between students using picture series through WhatsApp and those using conventional methods, and to explore the interaction between picture series models and gender. The population consisted of 57 students, divided into a WhatsApp class (28 students) and a conventional class (29 students). Using a quasi-experimental design, the WhatsApp class (VIII2) served as the experimental group, while the conventional class (VIII3) was the control group. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test scores. Findings indicate a significant difference in writing outcomes, with the WhatsApp class outperforming the conventional class. A two-way ANOVA revealed an interaction between picture series models and gender, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a notable interaction. The Estimated Marginal Means graph showed intersecting lines, further supporting this interaction. Additionally, no significant difference was found in writing outcomes for male students between the two methods. However, female students using the WhatsApp method achieved higher scores than their male counterparts.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of group (Comic Webtoon class and Conventional class) and gender (male and female) on reading comprehension among Class X IPA students at SMAN 2 Baubau. The sample comprised 72 students from Class X IPA 1 and Class X IPA 2, selected via purposive sampling. Data on reading comprehension were gathered using a 40-item multiple-choice test. Analysis employed descriptive statistics and two-way ANOVA. Results showed no significant main effect of groups on reading comprehension (p = 0.367 > 0.05), while a significant main effect of gender was observed (p = 0.00 < 0.05). Furthermore, an interaction effect of gender and groups on reading comprehension was found (p = 0.02 < 0.05). These findings underscore the need for educators to tailor reading materials and instructional methods based on gender differences and emphasize the importance of selecting appropriate reading media to enhance students' comprehension of diverse texts.
