Abstract

The study was motivated by the lack of concrete visualizations in 3D geometry instruction and the limited availability of flexible digital resources. This development research aims to design, validate, and evaluate the practicality of a learning medium a Mathematics Mini-Encyclopedia created using Canva focused on 3D shapes for fifth-grade elementary school students. Employing the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, the study was conducted in the Gugus III Sukasada , involving instrument, subject matter, media, and language experts, as well as fifth-grade teachers and students as trial participants. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Instrument validity was analyzed using the Gregory matrix formula, product validity was assessed via the Aiken’s V formula, and practicality was measured based on response percentages. The results indicate that the mini-encyclopedia’s design integrates microlearning principles with a QR Code-based print-digital approach. Experts categorized the medium as highly valid, and both teachers and students rated it as highly practical during small-group trials. Consequently, this Mathematics Mini-Encyclopedia is a suitable for enhancing the quality of geometry instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

Mathematics learning requires media that can present concepts concretely and be easily used/practical. Based on these needs, this study developed PAPINMAT (Smart Math Board) media for Grade IV elementary school. This study aims to produce PAPINMAT media, determine the product validity level, and analyze its practicality. This study employs Research and Development (R&D) methodology utilizing the ADDIE development framework modified up to the implementation phase. The research subjects comprised subject matter experts, media experts, language experts, 3 elementary school teachers, and 18 Grade IV students from Sukasada Cluster III. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and structured questionnaires. Results revealed that PAPINMAT was successfully developed as a teaching aid. Product validity testing achieved high mean scores: 92% from subject matter experts, 98% from media experts, and 94% from language experts, all residing in the "very high validity" category. Practicality testing yielded a teacher response percentage of 96.7% and a student response percentage of 97.5%, qualifying as "highly practical." Consequently, PAPINMAT meets the criteria of being highly valid and highly practical for use as an alternative mathematics learning medium for 3D geometry material in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study examines the structural relationships among compensation, work discipline, motivation, and employee performance in the public sector. Motivated by issues such as suboptimal organizational performance, attendance problems, and compensation-related challenges, this research aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of compensation and work discipline on employee performance, with motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative research design using a survey method was applied, with a population of 90 civil servant employees selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that while compensation does not directly affect employee performance, it significantly boosts work motivation. Work discipline positively influences both motivation and performance. Additionally, work motivation plays a significant role in enhancing employee performance and mediates the relationship between compensation, work discipline, and performance. These results highlight the importance of psychological and behavioral mechanisms in shaping employee performance in public sector organizations. In conclusion, strengthening work discipline and increasing motivation are more effective strategies for improving performance than relying solely on financial compensation. This study contributes to behavioral-performance models by emphasizing the mediating role of motivation.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of inmate stress and the correctional environment on behavioral change, with motivation as a mediating variable, at Class IIA Serang Correctional Institution in Indonesia. The research is motivated by persistent issues such as overcrowding and high levels of psychological stress, which potentially hinder the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs and reduce the likelihood of successful behavioral transformation among inmates. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the direct and indirect relationships between stress, correctional environment, motivation, and behavioral change. A quantitative research design was employed using a survey method involving 254 inmates selected through proportional sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires measured on a Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that inmate stress has a significant negative effect on motivation, while the correctional environment has a significant positive effect on motivation. Furthermore, motivation significantly influences behavioral change and serves as a mediating variable that strengthens the relationship between the correctional environment and behavioral outcomes, while weakening the negative impact of stress. These findings suggest that behavioral change in correctional settings is influenced by both psychological and environmental factors. In conclusion, effective rehabilitation requires an integrated approach that focuses on reducing stress levels and improving institutional conditions to enhance inmates’ intrinsic motivation and support sustainable behavioral change.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop flashcard- and Quizlet-based learning media for mathematics instruction, specifically on the topics of Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) and Least Common Multiple (LCM), for sixth-grade students at Gunung Sari Elementary School No. 1, as well as to assess the validity and practicality of the developed media. This study used the D&D (Design & Development) model, which consists of the Analyze, Design, Development, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects involved instrument experts, media experts, subject matter experts, language experts, sixth-grade teachers, and sixth-grade students, selected through one-on-one interviews with three participants and small-group discussions with 12 participants. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis employed both descriptive and qualitative methods (mixed methods). The research results show that (1) in the design phase, the researcher developed the media based on the results of the observations conducted, thereby producing higher-quality media that were subsequently revised by the experts to further improve them; these revised media influenced the results of the subsequent validity and practicality tests, (2) Regarding validity, the researchers obtained highly satisfactory and high results, with Aiken’s V scores of 0.90 from the subject matter expert, 0.97 from the media expert, and 0.90 from the language expert; and (3) regarding practicality, the results of the practicality test showed a 94.7% rating from students, categorized as “very practical.”
