Abstract

Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level still faces various challenges in improving students' listening, reading, writing, and storytelling skills. One alternative that can be implemented is the use of animated video media, which has been proven to enhance motivation and learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of animated videos in Indonesian language learning by referring to ten previous studies. This research employs a literature review method by analyzing ten articles discussing the use of animated videos in Indonesian language learning. Various testing methods used in previous studies include pretest-posttest, t-test, expert validation, and N-Gain analysis. The analysis results indicate that animated videos significantly contribute to improving students' language skills. Several studies report an increase in students' learning scores by 78%-90%, with a significant difference between the experimental class using animated videos and the control class applying conventional methods. Additionally, this media has been proven to enhance students' interest, motivation, and comprehension of learning materials. However, challenges in its implementation include limited technological infrastructure in schools and teachers' readiness to utilize this media optimally.

Abstract

Abstract: Media, particularly big books, serves as an effective support in low-grade classrooms. Various types of media have been developed to enhance the reading abilities of lower-grade students. The research method employed in this study involves a written survey where reading experts assess, evaluate, and formulate various writings. The findings from the research indicate that the use of large media significantly impacts the development of early reading skills. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate how the utilization of big book media can contribute to the improvement of early reading skills and to describe the developments in big book media observed in previous studies. Furthermore, the research results are compared to derive a final conclusion that the use of large media has a significant impact on early reading comprehension skills. This research highlights the success of involving big book media, taking into account the intelligence levels of students in lower grades. The main instrument in collecting this information is the analyst who compiles various studies in a research diary with points reflecting the subjects explored by specialists.Keyword: Beginning Reading, Elementary School, Big Book Abstrak: Media, khususnya big book, menjadi pendukung yang efektif dalam pembelajaran di kelas rendah. Abstract

This study aimed to develop and examine the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of an animation-based learning medium integrated with Cooperative Learning for teaching Lampung folk tales in elementary schools. The study was motivated by low student achievement and the limited availability of culturally contextualized digital media in local language instruction. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the learning media was developed through the ADDIE model, encompassing Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The participants consisted of 25 fourth-grade students from SDN 3 Rajabasa, Bandar Lampung. Expert validation indicated a high level of feasibility, with an average score of 88%. Learning outcomes were examined using a one-group pretest–posttest design, revealing a substantial increase in students' scores from a mean of 48.4 to 93.2. Paired-sample t-test results showed a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.001), accompanied by a large effect size (Cohen's d = 3.40), suggesting a strong learning impact within the study context. Students also reported very positive responses to the learning experience, with an average satisfaction score of 4.9 out of 5. These findings indicate that animation-based cooperative learning media can effectively support student engagement, comprehension, and appreciation of Lampung cultural values. While the results are promising, they should be interpreted as preliminary due to the limited sample and research design. The study offers practical insights for developing culturally responsive digital learning resources aligned with Indonesia's Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) policy.
