Abstract

Kata Kunci: Kecemasan, Lansia, Penyakit Kronis, Relaksasi Otot Progresif  ABSTRACT Elderly people experience significant changes in physical, psychological, and social aspects as they age. The aging process causes a decline in body functions that can potentially trigger chronic diseases. This condition can impact the psychosocial conditions of the elderly, one of which is causing anxiety. One anxiety management strategy that can be done in the elderly is progressive muscle relaxation (ROP) training. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and ability of the elderly in managing anxiety. This community service program was carried out through the ROP education and skills practice method on 49 elderly who regularly participate in Posbindu activities at Posbindu Dahlia Senja, Limo Village. The results of the activity showed that the average age of participants was 65.35 years, where the majority of elderly were female (93.9%). Based on the results of measurements using the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS), it was known that the majority of elderly experienced mild anxiety as much as 55.1%, moderate levels 36.7% and severe levels 8.2%. After the ROP education and practice activities, the average score of the elderly's level of knowledge regarding anxiety increased by 42.02. The results of the observation also showed that the majority of elderly were able to perform ROP practice movements correctly. A community service program involving education and practice of progressive muscle relaxation (ROP) can improve older adults' knowledge about anxiety and their skills in managing it. This intervention can be used as an alternative to improve their ability to manage anxiety independently. Keywords: Anxiety, Elderly, Chronic Disease, Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a disease caused by the Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection that affects the cervix. The government has made efforts in the primary prevention of cervical cancer through HPV vaccination as a national immunization program aimed at girls aged 9-14 years. The provision of education related to HPV vaccination is often focused solely on parents, resulting in a lack of knowledge among children about HPV vaccination, which will influence their attitudes and practices regarding HPV vaccination and cervical cancer. This study examines the effects of the Edufun Cervix Care package on the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice Regarding Human Papillomavirus Vaccination and Cervical Cancer among elementary school female students in Bekasi. This quantitative study uses a Quasi-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The study sample consists of 70 respondents selected through a total sampling technique. The results of the Wilcoxon test on the knowledge variable (CI 95% = 13.000-16.000, P-value 0.000), attitude (CI 95% = 3.000-5.000, P-value 0.000), and practice (CI 95% = 1.500-2.500, P-value 0.000). The research findings indicate a significant effect of the Edufun Cervix Care package on knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding Human Papillomavirus and Cervical Cancer among elementary school female students in Bekasi, marked by a P-value <0.05. It is hoped that future researchers will utilize different research designs and include parents as respondents in the study.

Abstract

Introduction: Female population 10 to 24 years old occupied almost in 30% of total female population. Female students as one of this subpopulations fall in the late adolescent age and experience a menstrual cycle. It is possible that some of them experience irregular menstrual cycles and have menstrual health issues such as premenstrual syndrome. Lack of early health education in this regard can result difficulty in early detection of menstrual abnormalities and it may develop into a serious reproductive organ disorder that continues into adulthood. Objective: This study aimed to identify the effect of menstrual flow monitoring (MFM) on the knowledge and attitudes related to menstrual health through lectures, demonstrations, and exercise methods, using the menstrual flow chart (MFC) and the menstrual calendar (MC) during sessions. Metode: This study design was quasi-experimental with only one group pretest and posttest. The subjects were 117 female students from the Teacher College of Economics Study Program who were selected by purposive sampling method. The data collected were processed using paired t-test. Data analysis revealed significant increase in the mean score of pretest to second posttest on the variables knowledge (p = 0.006) and attitude (p = 0.000). Result: This study results emphasize the need for further randomized control trial studies aimed at a larger population to disclose more relevant findings.

Abstract

Introduction: Women's choice to undergo vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is shaped by a multitude of factors. This study seeks to investigate the differences of intentions and attitudes toward the HPV vaccine and its effect size among women categorized into three groups based on their level of self-efficacy. Methods: As many as 441 respondents were selected using the consecutive sampling method. The samples were divided into three groups based on their level of self-efficacy (low, medium, and high). The research employed a cross-sectional design from 13 May to 15 June 2023 in the working area of Public Health Centers located in Jakarta by implementing individual home visits. The research instruments comprised the Self-Efficacy Scale for HPV vaccination, the Intentions to Receive the HPV Vaccine Questionnaire, and the Attitude of HPV, Cervical Cancer, and Vaccine HPV Questionnaire; all were declared valid and reliable. The Kruskal-Wallis Test, the Tukey HSD Post Hoc Test, and the Epsilon Squared Test were performed to examine intention and attitude based on the type of self-efficacy and the effect size found. Results: Significant differences were observed in intention (p<0.001) and attitude (p<0.001) among the three self-efficacy groups, demonstrating relatively robust effect sizes (attitude: ε2=0.109, p<0.001; intention: ε2=0.159, p<0.001). Conclusions:The research demonstrated discernible discrepancies in intention and attitude across the three sample groups distinguished by their self-efficacy levels. It is advisable to design interventions focusing on health promotion that highlight the diverse needs and characteristics of different groups of women.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is significantly increased by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The HPV vaccine can be administered as a primary preventive to stop cervical cancer. Cervical cancer can be prevented most effectively with vaccination. The decision to acquire the HPV vaccine is influenced by factors related to knowledge and awareness of the disease. This study aims to ascertain how adolescent girls’ knowledge and awareness of the HPV vaccine relate to one another. In this study, a cross-sectional approach was utilized. One hundred twenty-eight respondents were selected using a cluster random sampling. This study employed the Knowledge regarding HPV, Cervical Cancer, and HPV Vaccine Questionnaire and Awareness about Cervical Cancer, HPV, and HPV Vaccines Questionnaire, all declared valid and reliable. The Spearman Rank test was performed to analyze the data. According to the results, there was a relationship between knowledge and awareness of the HPV vaccine in adolescent girls (r= 0.554; p-value=0.000). Therefore, teenage girls’ knowledge and awareness of the HPV vaccine were related. It is suggested that health professionals, particularly those working with young girls, should provide easy-to-understand information about the HPV vaccine and cervical cancer.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Adolescents typically lack complete autonomy in making medical decisions, with parental influence often playing a pivotal role in matters such as consenting to or declining medical interventions, including human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for their daughters. However, scholarly investigation into parental health literacy concerning attitudes and self-efficacy regarding HPV vaccination for adolescent girls remains limited. This study aims to ascertain the correlation between parental health literacy levels and their attitudes towards, as well as self-efficacy regarding, HPV vaccination. This cross-sectional inquiry was carried out between February and June 2023, involving 197 parents of teenage daughters. Utilizing consecutive sampling techniques, participants were recruited from the UPTD catchment area of Pejuang Health Center, Bekasi. Research instruments employed encompassed the Health Literacy questionnaire, the Attitude Questionnaire concerning the HPV vaccine, and the Self-Efficacy Scale for HPV vaccination. Data analysis entailed the application of the Spearman Correlation Test. Predominantly, respondents were female, aged between 31 and 40 years, married, with one teenage daughter, and predominantly relied on electronic media for health literacy information. Significantly positive associations were established between parental health literacy and attitudes (p value=0.000; r=0.339), as well as self-efficacy (p value=0.000; r=0.301). Parental health literacy exhibits a substantial correlation with attitudes and self-efficacy regarding HPV vaccination, characterized by a moderate strength of association. Consequently, an intervention initiative targeting the enhancement of parental health literacy is advocated, the efficacy of which could be evaluated through prospective quasi-experimental research endeavors. Keywords: Parental Health Literacy, Attitude, Self-Efficacy, Adolescent Women, Human Papillomavirus Vaccination.  ABSTRAK Remaja putri belum memiliki independensi penuh untuk mengambil keputusan medis.
