Abstract

Self-efficacy predicts a mother’s decision to breastfeed, the level of effort invested in breastfeeding, and the responses to challenges faced during the process. This study aims to determine the relationship between a husband’s knowledge and attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding and the self-efficacy of mothers who have undergone cesarean sections. The design of this research is correlational with a cross-sectional framework. The sample consisted of 38 mothers post-cesarean section and their husbands, obtained through a Non-Probability Sampling technique using sequential sampling in the Al Aqsha 4th room of Haji Hospital, East Java Province. The analysis in this study employs Spearman’s rho. The instrument assessed husbands’ knowledge and attitudes regarding exclusive breastfeeding and the short form of breastfeeding self-efficacy (BSE-SF). The study results indicated that the knowledge level of most husbands fell into a suitable category, at 89.5%. Most husbands exhibited positive attitudes, at 65.8%. Meanwhile, the majority of post-cesarean section mothers recorded high levels of breastfeeding self-efficacy, at 78.9%. The results of the Spearman rho test regarding the knowledge and self-efficacy of breastfeeding mothers following cesarean sections yielded p=0.141 (>0.05). In contrast, the relationship between husbands’ attitudes and the self-efficacy of breastfeeding mothers post-cesarean section was p=0.022 (<0.05). While the knowledge and attitudes of husbands regarding exclusive breastfeeding are categorized mainly as good, their knowledge does not influence the self-efficacy of mothers breastfeeding after cesarean delivery.

Abstract

Background: Preeclampsia during the postpartum period is one of the biggest contributors to maternal morbidity and mortality. The importance of discharge planning and good monitoring during return visits in postpartum cases with preeclampsia will have a positive impact in reducing morbidity and mortality due to postpartum hypertension complications. Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine and describe the implementation of discharge planning and return visits for postpartum cases with preeclampsia in one of the Type B Hospitals in Surabaya and the Surabaya City Community Health Center. Method: This study used a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and observations. The sample size was 18 informants, namely 11 midwives and 7 postpartum mothers with preeclampsia, with purposive sampling. Results: The results of the study found several obstacles in the implementation of discharge planning and return visits for postpartum cases with preeclampsia. The implementation of discharge planning, postpartum services and return visit schedules were not all carried out according to service standards, so there was no two-way communication between the Hospital and the Community Health Center. Conclusion: Implementing appropriate discharge planning and postpartum care serves as a benchmark for service quality and represents continuity of care in midwifery care, particularly for postpartum mothers with preeclampsia. Evaluation of any identified challenges is necessary to ensure optimal service delivery.

Abstract

Menstruation is associated with sexual maturity, fertility, overall health, and even changes in various parts of the body. The menstrual cycle typically remains relatively stable during the reproductive years. However, 11.7% of adolescent girls in Indonesia experience menstrual cycle disturbances. Therefore, it is essential to identify factors related to the menstrual cycle. The study was a literature review. The literature used consisted of articles from national journals published in the last five years (2018–2023). The literature sources were obtained from "Google Scholar" using the keyword "siklus menstruasi".Five articles meeting the criteria were identified. Factors influencing the menstrual cycle in women of reproductive age included fast food consumption, stress levels, overweight or obesity, sleep quality, physical activity level, and anxiety. Conclusion: Effectively managing stress, maintaining an ideal body weight, ensuring an adequate amount of sleep, avoiding excessive physical activity, and addressing anxiety could contribute to a normal menstrual cycle.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate in Indonesia is still high, namely 177 per 100.000 live births. KSPR is a simple tool for early detection of risk factors in pregnant women. Pregnant women with high risk are more likely to experience complication during pregnancy and childbirth so that the possibility of caesarean delivery and perinata morbidity is igher. Complication during pregnancy and childbirth are also a factor in the high MMR. This study aims to determine the relationship between the risk of pregnant women based on the KSPR scoring results with caesarean section deliveries and perinatal morbidity. The research method uses observational analytic with retrospective data collection. The sample in this study were pregnant women who underwent ANC at the Mojo Health Center, Kediri Regency, from Januari to December 2021 who were included in the inclusion criteria and were determined using simple random sampling technique. Data collection trough secondary data in the form of register books, maternal cohorts, medical records, and data collection sheet. Research data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents (54%) had high-risk pregnancies (KRT). The results of the statistical test between the risk of pregnancy and sectio caesarea delivery obtained p value = 0,022 and the results of the statistical test between the risk of pregnancy and perinatal morbidity obtained p value = 0,946. These data indicate that there is a significant relationship between the risk of pregnancy and caesarean delivery and there is no significant relationship between risk of pregnancy and perinatal morbidity.
