Abstract

This study presents the application of fiber bragg grating (FBG) sensors coated with polyimide for detecting carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas, employing both theoretical and experimental approaches. The basic FBG components were coated with polyimide layers of varying thicknesses. Subsequently, the fabricated FBG sensors were characterized using an optical interrogator system with four channels. Furthermore, the sensor was tested for CO₂ detection at a working temperature of 47 °C. Experimental data showed that the FBG sensor coated with polyimide layers of 10 nm, 15 nm, and 20 nm demonstrated sensitivities of 1.9 ppm, 1.84 ppm, and 1.8 ppm, respectively. In contrast, the uncoated FBG sensor exhibited a higher sensitivity of 3 ppm. Increasing the coating thickness beyond 20 nm leads to a decrease in sensor sensitivity. The findings suggest that an optimal polyimide coating thickness for CO₂ detection using FBG sensors is around 20 nm. Achieving high sensitivity in CO₂ gas sensors is crucial for their effective use across a broad range of applications.

Abstract

Teaching rotational dynamics requires innovative instructional materials to develop students’ critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the validity and practicality of a rotational dynamics learning module integrated with a microcontroller-based experimental tool. The method used in this study is research and development using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instruments used were validity and practicality checklists. The results of the research on the development of the rotational dynamics learning module integrated with a microcontroller-based experimental tool showed a total average validity score of 0.89, categorized as valid, and an average practicality score of 3.4, categorized as practical. Based on the research results, the rotational dynamics learning module integrated with a microcontroller-based experimental tool is suitable for use.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model in improving students’ learning outcomes and to determine the differences in achievement between a class implementing the Discovery Learning model and a class using conventional instruction on the topic of Global Warming in Grade X at SMA Negeri 2 Tambang. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent posttest only control group design. The sample consisted of 64 students divided into two classes, with 32 students in class X.7 as the experimental group and 32 students in class X.6 as the control group. The research instrument was a learning outcomes test comprising 20 multiple-choice questions developed based on Bloom’s Taxonomy cognitive levels (C1–C5). The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results showed that the experimental class achieved an average score of 82.03, categorized as good, while the control class obtained an average score of 75.78, also categorized as good. These findings indicate a significant difference in students’ learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups, demonstrating that the application of the Discovery Learning model effectively improves students’ learning outcomes on Global Warming material compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merinci bagaimana metode ilmiah digunakan dalam Ilmu KIT untuk lebih menjelaskan bagaimana membantu siswa memahami ide-ide kunci. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen semu dengan posttest only control group. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Bagan Sinembah Raya Tahun Pelajaran 2022/2023, dan peneliti mengambil dari dua kelas untuk mengumpulkan sampelnya sebanyak 43 peserta: kelas VII-1 sebagai kelompok kontrol, dengan jumlah 21 peserta, sedangkan kelas VII-2 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dengan jumlah peserta 22 orang. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa tes pemahaman pengukuran materi yang terdiri dari 21 soal pilihan ganda yang awalnya divalidasi menggunakan SPSS kemudian dinilai reliabilitasnya dengan KR 21. Analisis deskriptif dilakukan dengan menghitung skor rata-rata pada serangkaian pertanyaan yang dirancang untuk mengukur pengetahuan konseptual siswa; analisis inferensial dilakukan dengan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis; dan perangkat lunak SPSS 23 digunakan untuk semua analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata pemahaman konsep siswa kelas eksperimen (KIT IPA) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol, dan terdapat perbedaan yang cukup besar antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan KIT IPA, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran lebih berhasil dengan penggunaan media pembelajaran berupa KIT IPA.
