Abstract

The prevalence of obesity in Indonesia for adults >18 years old increased from 10,5% in 2013 to 21.8% in 2018. This study aimed to determine the correlation between vegetable intake and physical activities with the obesity of Seka Teruna Teruni (STT) Eka Manggala Danendra Banjar Tengah. The type of research used was analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. The statistical test used the Spearman Rank correlation test. The research sample amounted to 64 people, with the sampling method being a non-probability random sample. The results showed that most of the respondents had a low level of vegetable intake (96.9%), the level of physical activities of the respondents was mostly moderate (54.7%), and there were 12 (18.8%) respondents with obesity. The physical activity conditioning with obesity status was significantly related with the p-value = 0.004 < (0.05) and the value of coefficient correlation = -0.356, which means that there was a significant and not unidirectional relationship between the level of physical activities and obesity status in members of STT Eka Manggala Danendra in 2022. The story of physical activities is a variable that affects a person's obesity status. Therefore, education about increasing physical activity and vegetable intake is needed to maintain the ideal body weight. Keywords: Obesity, Physical activities, Vegetable intake

Abstract

Background: Leprosy is still a serious health problem in Indonesia. The rate of transmission of this disease is still high, but the discovery of new cases is low and the rate of dropping out of treatment is high. This indicates that the strategies for treating leprosy that have been implemented so far have not been effective enough. So appropriate efforts are needed to overcome the problem comprehensively and sustainably. Objective: Conduct educational interventions about leprosy for religious and traditional leaders to help find cases to increase the New Case Detection Rate of leprosy. Method: Quasi-Experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. Population: are religious leaders and traditional leaders. The sample size was 50 people. Results: there was a significant increase in the variables of knowledge (p-value<0.05), positive attitudes (p-value<0.05), and actions (p-value<0.05) from religious leaders and traditional leaders regarding leprosy after the intervention. Traditional and religious leaders have a joint commitment to eradicate Hansen's Disease after intervention. Conclusion: Educational interventions for religious and traditional leaders significantly increased the knowledge, attitude and actions in supporting new case detection rate of leprosy. Recommendation: This intervention model can be followed up by relevant stakeholders to solve the problem of detecting new cases of leprosy.

Abstract

Introduction: The prevalence of stunting in children in Indonesia, including Poso Regency, remains relatively high despite a decrease in recent years. This study aims to analyze factors associated with stunting in Poso Regency. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional analytical method with a sample size of 250 mothers and their children under 2 years old, using structured questionnaires and direct measurements to collect data. Univariate analysis, chi-square tests and binary logistic regression were performed with a final report of adjusted odds ratios (AORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). All of the analyses used Stata version 15. Results: Results indicate a significant association between stunting and the child's gender, maternal education, immunization, and breastfeeding. Boys face a 2.3 times higher risk of stunting, while children of mothers with primary education have a 4.7 times higher risk compared to those with higher education. Non-immunized and non-breastfed children also exhibit significantly higher stunting risks. Conclusion: The study underscores the impact of factors such as the child's sex, maternal education, immunization, and breastfeeding on stunting in Poso Regency. The study emphasizes the need for targeted educational programs by healthcare professionals, policy-driven nutritional support initiatives, and community-based awareness campaigns to effectively address stunting in Poso Regency.

Abstract

Stunting in children contributes to adolescent nutrition problems because adolescent nutrition affects the health quality of the next generation. Adolescent malnutrition, such as iron and protein deficiencies, impacts reproductive health and increases the risk of giving birth to stunted children. Therefore, it is important to carry out adolescent nutritional interventions to prevent stunting as early as possible. This research aims to produce educational videos that are feasible and effective in increasing knowledge about stunting and balanced nutrition with the target group of adolescents. This research is a Development Research using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The data analysis applied a one-to-one test and a small-group test. The one-to-one test obtained a percentage of 89% indicating that the video design is in a good category with revision. The small-group test reached 92% indicating that it is categorized as very good but some suggestions for improvement are recommended. The suggested revision is not fundamental because it is only related to the selection of vocabulary to be understood better by the target. Another recommendation is the background musical illustrations that possibly distract the targets’ attention. After some improvements, it is recommended that this educational video be disseminated through social media platforms such as WhatsApp Group or Instagram so that more teenagers can access it.
