Abstract

Questionnaires are a data collection method that is widely used in health research. Nowadays, the validity test that is often used to assess the quality of questionnaires is the item-total correlation test. This study aims to introduce another method that is often said to be better by experts, namely factor analysis. When compared with item-total correlation analysis, factor analysis has the advantages of: 1) it can reveal the latent structure of the variables being measured; 2) can capture multivariate variations; 3) can test construct validity, namely whether the questionnaire is able to measure concepts or constructs theoretically; 4) can determine how many factors are needed to explain the variance in the data. It was concluded that taking into account its advantages, factor analysis is the best choice for testing the validity of questionnaires in health research. Keywords: health research; questionnaire; validity test; categorical variables; factor analysis

Abstract

Background: Leprosy is still a serious health problem in Indonesia. The rate of transmission of this disease is still high, but the discovery of new cases is low and the rate of dropping out of treatment is high. This indicates that the strategies for treating leprosy that have been implemented so far have not been effective enough. So appropriate efforts are needed to overcome the problem comprehensively and sustainably. Objective: Conduct educational interventions about leprosy for religious and traditional leaders to help find cases to increase the New Case Detection Rate of leprosy. Method: Quasi-Experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. Population: are religious leaders and traditional leaders. The sample size was 50 people. Results: there was a significant increase in the variables of knowledge (p-value<0.05), positive attitudes (p-value<0.05), and actions (p-value<0.05) from religious leaders and traditional leaders regarding leprosy after the intervention. Traditional and religious leaders have a joint commitment to eradicate Hansen's Disease after intervention. Conclusion: Educational interventions for religious and traditional leaders significantly increased the knowledge, attitude and actions in supporting new case detection rate of leprosy. Recommendation: This intervention model can be followed up by relevant stakeholders to solve the problem of detecting new cases of leprosy.

Abstract

Since 2017, Bali Province has consistently ranked first in the lowest stunting prevalence in Indonesia. Planned programmes should be exploring and identifying certain factors which trigger stuntling, so as to reduce the prevalence of stuntin' at least in line with established distribution patterns. The data used in this research is secondary data from the Indonesian Nutrition Status Study in the Province. The analysis carried out included: Univariate analysis and multivariate analysis using backward logistic regression analysis. The results of the analysis of determinant factors and performance evaluation of the Nutrition and Health Program in Bali Province show that the factors that contribute to the stunting problem in Bali are: (a) area of residence (AOR= 1.57; 95%CI= 1.31 - 1.89); (b) PMT for pregnant women (AOR= 0.55; 95% CI= 0.39 - 0.78); (c) Pregnancy Examination (AOR= 0.83; 95%CI= 0.61 - 1.14); (d) Birth Status (AOR= 1.52; 95%CI= 1.22 - 1.90); (e) Body length at birth (AOR= 1.54 - 2.11); (f) Birth weight (AOR= 2.48; 95%CI= 1.71 - 3.58); (g) Variety of Toddler Consumption (AOR= 1.65; 95%CI= 1.36 - 2.00); and (h) Program Immunization (AOR=.0.69; 95%CI= 0.51 - 0.96). The potential for stunting occurs before the baby is born; therefore, it is recommended that priority programs be developed for women of childbearing age and pregnant women

Abstract

One message of balanced nutrition is to increase consumption of vegetables and fruit. Low consumption of vegetables and fruit can cause nutritional problems in school children. The reason is that children's eating behavior is unstable and there are many instant foods that contain little vegetables and fruit. Another cause is the lack of knowledge about consumption of vegetables and fruit. One way to achieve this is through counseling. Media is needed to achieve success, the available media include video media and power point. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in knowledge and attitudes of students at Elementary School of 12 Kesiman and Elementary School of 7 Kesiman about vegetables and fruit using video and media.power point. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with a plan The Matching Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design and using only the two-group average independent which totaled 72 people. Data was collected by filling out a questionnaire. Data is presented in frequency and cross tables. Test results Mann-Whitney showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge data between students of Elementary School of 12 Kesiman and Elementary School of 7 Kesiman (p-value = 0.005). The same attitude test was carried out, which resulted in a significant difference in attitude between students of Elementary School of 12 Kesiman and Elementary School of 7 Kesiman (p-value = 0.013). Suggestions that can be done is to consider the use of video and media media power point as one of the student learning methods.

Abstract

Nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy can inhibit growth and development for the fetus. Malnourished fetuses are at risk of being born with low birth weight. Babies with low birth weight can have an impact in the short and long term. The general purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the diet of pregnant women and the birth of babies with low birth weight in Cempaka 2 room Prof.Dr.I.G.N.G.Ngoerah Hospital. This type of research is observational which is analytical with a case control study design. The number of samples of this study was 40 people consisting of 20 mothers who gave birth to babies with normal weight and 20 mothers who gave birth to babies with low weight. Data collection with SQ- FFQ questionnaire. The data analysis used was odd ratio and chi square statistical test. The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal diet based on the amount of energy intake (p = 0.011) and the amount of protein intake (p = 0.011) with the incidence of low weight with the results of odd ratio of 5.571 for energy intake and 5.444 for protein intake so that it can be concluded that pregnant women who have less energy and protein intake are 5 times at risk of giving birth to babies with low birth weight and there is no significant relationship between maternal diet based on food type (p = 0.105) with the birth of babies with low birth weight in Cempaka 2 room Prof.Dr.I.G.N.G.Ngoerah Hospital. Nutritionists are expected to educate pregnant women about the importance of a good diet and educate mothers who give birth to babies with low birth weight on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding to babies with low birthweight.

Abstract

Nutritional status during primary school age is essential for optimal physical growth and cognitive development. Dietary transitions driven by modernization—including increased consumption of fast foods and sweetened beverages—may reduce the intake of nutrient-dense foods. This study aimed to describe the nutritional status and food preferences of students at SDN 2 Besakih, Karangasem, Bali. A cross-sectional study was conducted. Anthropometric measurements were obtained from all students present (n = 211) and assessed using BMI-for-age and height-for-age indicators based on WHO AnthroPlus standards. Food preference data were collected from 72 students selected through stratified sampling using a pictorial Likert-scale questionnaire. Data were analysed using univariate, bivariate, and multifactorial tests. Most students exhibited normal nutritional status, although both undernutrition and overnutrition were present. The leftward shift in BMI-for-age and height-for-age z-score curves indicated vulnerability to undernutrition and stunting. Female students demonstrated significantly higher preference scores for chicken dishes (p = 0.003) and milk-based or sweetened beverages (p = 0.009). Grade level influenced preferences for chicken dishes and beverages, with no significant interaction between gender and grade. Vegetable preference was relatively low across all groups. Primary school children in rural Karangasem face a double burden of malnutrition accompanied by shifting dietary preferences toward less balanced food choices. Strengthening school-based nutrition interventions, including nutrition education, healthy canteen programs, and routine growth monitoring, is critical to fostering healthy dietary habits early in life.
