The aim of this research is to investigate types of illocutionary acts used by main characters in Wild Child and the purpose of illocutionary acts. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method since she describes the phenomena of illocutionary act used by Poppy and Kate. The researcher uses the script of Wild Child movie as the data source to be analyzed and the researcher took some internet references and books as the supporting data for analyzing and discovering the types of illocutionary acts in this movie. This research found four types of illocutionary acts. There are representative, directive, expressive, and commisive. This research did not found illocutionary acts of declarative. The most of utterance used by Poppy and Kate is directive utterance. The purpose of illocutionary acts is to get someone to do something.

People in different countries have their own methods on how they imitate the sounds of the same animals. The real example is that Englishmen imitate the sound of cat as /miËˈaÊŠ/. On the other hand, Indonesians imitate the sound of the same cat as /meɔŋ/. Those sound, in term of linguistics, are considered as onomatopoeic words. This study is about animal onomatopoeic word where the objective of the study is to find both the similarities and differences between how Englishmen and Indonesians imitate the sound of the same animal in term of phonetic features. To achieve the objective of the study, the writer compiles list of twenty animal onomatopoeic words both from English and Indonesian languages. Then the sounds are analyzed in terms of phonetic and phonological theories. As the result, there are similarities as well as differences in both consonants and vowels.

This study is attempted to analyze an existentialism of Chekhov’s main characters Smirnov in “The Bearâ€, Lomov in “The Proposal†and Ivan in “A Tragedian in Spite of Himselfâ€. The data are taken from the dialogues selected in the plays mentioned. There are two objectives of the study that are: to find how the main characters show their existence; and to reveal why the main characters doing so in the plays. Descriptive qualitative is applied as research method, while existentialism as the main theory and positivism and rationalism as the supporting theory. This Study found out how the main characters oppose positivism and rationalism by being subjective. Each character has their own way in showing their existence. As the result, every character has their own purposes to be existence. The purposes of the main characters are their own eternal happiness. In “The Bear†Smirnov is being stubborn because he wants to show his power as a landowner, in “The Proposalâ€Â Lomov is flaunting his wealth in order to propose Natalya, and Ivan is nagging to get sympathy from his friend.

This study was about phonological acquisition, especially on phonological process theory by David Ingram. It focused on the consonant word production by three two-year-old Indonesian children. The researchers applied qualitative research methods and the data were taken from the three Indonesian children’s speech in naturalistic conversation. Based on the data analysis and interpretation, the researchers found that not all of Ingram’s phonological processes occur in the subjects’ word production. There were nine from twelve processes. In addition, the researchers also found four other phonological processes which did not reflect Ingram’s theory and there were still several sounds which were not acquired yet by the subjects at the end of her research.

This study is sociolinguistics. It focuses on register used by the workers of PT. Multi Duta Utari. In productionDepartment, workers in PT. Multi Duta Utari, used register in context with their occupation. They use registerwhen they communicated in location production department of PT. Multi Duta Utari. The data taken are from inthe two statements, there are what are the type of the register used by the workers of PT. Multi Duta Utari, andwhy do the workers use such as the register. There are the objectives of the study that must be answered: (1)Toidentify the registers used by the workers in company of PT. Multi Duta Utari (2)To describe the reasons whythe workers use such registers. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The data are collected from thesources including the subject and the place from the collecting data analysis, and triangulation. Finally, thewriter hopes that the finding will be useful to enrich our insight of sociolinguistics.

This article entitled An Analysis Of Pivot Grammar Used By Pupils In Playgroup Attaqwa Surabaya. Language is the most important mean of communication in every human being. Language is obtained since human were in mother’s womb. Therefore, the researcher analyzes the pupils production of the utterance at the age of two to three years old in at-taqwa playgroup, meaning and description about pupils utterances. The design of researcher is descriptive qualitative research. It contains the description of pupil’s utterance in at-taqwa playgroup. The result of the study shows that in many activities of observation most pupils in at-taqwa playgroup use two utterances that are referred as pivot grammar.

This research analyzes code switching and code mixing which exist in the conversation of novel Perahu Kertas. The aims of this research are describe the types of code switching and code mixing used in the conversation in novel Perahu Kertas, the components in speaking of code switching and code mixing in the conversation in novel Perahu Kertas, and the reasons of using code switching and code mixing. This research uses a descriptive qualitative with the conversation utterances in novel Perahu Kertas as the sample. The data collection technique in this research is documentation techniques. The data collection are taken from the conversation in novel Perahu Kertas that use code switching and code mixing. The source of the data of this research is utterances from conversations in the novel Perahu Kertas. Based on the analysis, the result can be concluded that the code switching and code mixing phenomena in novel Perahu Kertas are situational, metaphorical code switching, and inner, outer code mixing. The component of speaking is from SPEAKING acronym. The reasons of code switching and code mixing in novel Perahu Kertas are arrival of a new person, different status and formality, particular topics, affective message, and expressing disapproval.

The ability to read is always discussed and important in the teaching and learning process. This study aims to determine how to implement the SQ3R method using online applications namely Beelinguapp. Then how does it affect students' reading comprehension? The effect of this method can be positive or negative. The method used in this study is a quantitative one-group Pre-test Post-Test design, with the instruments used pre-test and post-test and an observation sheet. This research was conducted on second-semester students majoring in English Education Department at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya. test score data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 26. The results of the mean in the Pre-Test is 59.67 and the mean in the Post-Test is 80.89. In addition, the result score of the mean in analysis N-Gain is 1.640. It showed that the application of the SQ3R method assisted by the use of online applications Beelinguapp could improve and has a positive effect on students' reading comprehension.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran tentang motivasi belajar siswa SMA/Sederajat dalam pembelajaran daring serta aspek-aspek yang mempengaruhinya. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode survei. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah convenience sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner terbuka dan tertutup dalam bentuk Google Form. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis kuantitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) siswa memiliki rasa kemauan dan kesadaran yang tinggi untuk belajar dan menyelesaikan tugas selama pembelajaran daring, (2) tingkat motivasi belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran daring berada pada kategori tinggi, serta (3) aspek-aspek dominan yang memengaruhi tingkat motivasi belajar siswa adalah semangat belajar dan desain lingkungan belajar.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menganalisis efektivitas e-book tipe flip book dalam melatih motivasi belajar peserta didik pada materi identifikasi jamur Basidiomycota. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Research & Development (R&D) yang telah dimodifikasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Hasyim Asy'ari Tebuireng pada Oktober 2024 - Januari 2025. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode tes yang dilakukan kepada 20 peserta didik kelas X SMA. Tes digunakan untuk mengetahui mengenai skor peningkatan motivasi belajar peserta didik dengan memberikan lembar soal sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan e-book. Metode ini digunakan untuk mengetahui keefektifan e-book berdasarkan aspek peningkatan motivasi belajar peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-book yang dikembangkan memiliki efektivitas sedang ditunjukkan melalui peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan nilai N-gain sebesar 0,59 (kategori sedang) dan ketuntasan belajar mencapai 90%. Respon peserta didik terhadap e-book menunjukkan tingkat kepuasan sebesar 95,7%, yang menunjukkan bahwa e-book sangat layak dan efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat diketahui bahwa secara keseluruhan e-book yang dikembangkan cukup efektif dan praktis dalam meningkatkan motivasi pembelajaran peserta didik.
