Abstract

A fly ash supported sodium oxide (Na2O) catalyst used in transesterification reaction of off-grade palm oil for biodiesel production. The catalyst synthesized by loading Na2O from sodium nitrate (NaNO3) into fly ash micro pore through impregnation method. The optimum catalyst preparation conditions were determined by influence of calcination temperature and weight ratio of NaNO3/fly ash. Catalyst with highest catalytic activity was achieved when calcined at 550oC and proportion of NaNO3/fly ash is 90:10. Under the conditions of oil : methanol ratio of 1:8, catalyst dosage of 4 wt% and temperature of 60oC for 3 h, the biodiesel yield reaches to 89,12%. Na2O, SiO2, NaNO3 and Na2O2 were found in the catalyst through X-ray diffraction (XRD) while the basic strength of the catalyst H_ > 9,3 was determined by using Hammett indicator phenolphthalein. Surface area of the developed catalyst is 21,651 m2/g through Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET). Characteristics of biodiesel such as density, kinematic viscosity, acid value, flash point has been matched with standard for biodiesel specification of Indonesia.Keywords: biodiesel, sodium oxide, catalyst, fly ash, impregnation, calcination, transesterification.

Abstract

Processing of palm oil into Crude Palm Oil (CPO) will produce a large amount of liquid waste. To produce a ton of crude palm oil (CPO) produced 6 m3 of palm oil mill effluent. In this study, a process for removing organic compounds in wastewater using the advanced oxidation process by combining peroxymonosulfate (2KHS5.KHSO4.K2SO4) and a catalyst of LaMnO3 Perovskite. The combination will produce sulfate free radicals that capable degrading harmful organic compounds in effluent effectively. Nanocrystalline LaMnO3 was obtained by calcination at a temperature of 800 °C for 2 hours with an average crystal diameter of the highest peak of 17 ?m in the shape of the Rhombohedral catalyst and the catalyst has qualified the catalyst with a nanoparticle structure. Several variations of oxidation process variables were performed to assess their effect on organic matter decline. Some fixed variables were oxidation reaction temperature 30 oC, reaction time 120 min, stirring speed 400 rpm, and concentration of peroxymonosulfate solution 2 g/L and catalyst concentration 0,4 g / L. Conclution of this research is efficiency of 63.54 % for decreasing COD and efficiency by 27,4% for TOC reduction. This proved that the LaMnO3 catalyst is capable of activating peroxymonosulfate.Keywords : AOP, LaMnO3 Perovskite, Oxidation, Peroxymonosulfate

Abstract

Biodiesel is one of renewable energy in Indonesia that have to be development. Biodiesel formed as liquid fuel and has same property with petrodiesel. Biodiesel can be synthesized from off-grade palm oil using Na2O/fly ash as catalyst in transesterification process. Employing fly ash as support in Na2O has a good impact due to provide wide surface of catalyst. In this study aims to see the influence of reaction temperature, molar ratio of methanol and oil and concentration of Na2O/fly ash towards biodiesel yield. The process was conducted through reaction of esterification and followed by transesterification reaction. Processing of the data in this study was conducted by response surface methodology (RSM) using Design Expert 7.0 program which is experimental design determined by central composite design (CCD) which consists of three variables. The highest result of biodiesel yield was 81,2% at 60oC reaction temperature, molar ratio of methanol : oil 8 : 1 and catalyst concentration of Na2O/fly ash 4%-wt. Biodiesel characteristics such as density, kinematic viscosity, acid value and flash point has been appropriate by Indonesian biodiesel standard. The most significant condition of process affecting the yield of biodiesel was catalyst concentration.Keywords : biodiesel, catalyst, fly ash, off-grade palm oil, transesterification

Abstract

Biodiesel is a product of transesterification reaction fat/oil and methanol with the aid of catalyst. Catalysts is commonly used in the production of biodiesel is strong base catalysts such as NaOH and KOH which is difficult to separate from the product of the reaction because it has the same phase as the reactant. Therefore, it is necessary to develop catalyst technology in order to get the production process becomes more economical, applicable and environmentally friendly, one of the catalyst is geopolymer. Geopolymers are synthesized by reacting potassium silicate, metakaolin, and bottom ash. Geopolymers is used in transesterification reaction. The process variables are weight of oil 50 grams, stirring rate 400 rpm, reaction time 120 minutes, and temperature of 65 oC, with catalyst 2% (w/w) and mole ratio of methanol:oil 1:12. The yield of biodiesel 96.62% with density 878.3 kg/m3, viscosity 4.395 mm2/s, the acid number of 0.3575 mg-KOH/g biodiesel and the flash point 134.25 °C comply with the SNI standards (SNI 7182: 2015).Keywords: biodiesel, calophyllum inophyllum oil, geopolymer, transesterification, yield

Abstract

This research study about characteristic of physical of mortar geopolimer from blend of fly ash and palm oil fuel ash. Alkaline activator solution used to processed the activation of Silica (Si) and Alumina (Al) which implied in both types of the ash mixture from NaOH 14 M and liquid of natrium silicate (Na2SiO3). Proportion the blended fly ash and palm oil fuel ash ratios of 100:0, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25, and 0:100. Sand to blended ash by mass ratios of 2,75:1. Sampel out 5x5x5 cm on cube geopolymer. This research is used mix with the activator modulus 1,00 and 1,25, activator dosage (%Na2O) 22,5, cured at room temperature at 3 days and heat curedt 110ºC for 24 hours then cured at room temperature for 7 day. Result from this research represents compressive strength the mortar as according to variation blended ash. Compressive strength will mount as according to modulus of activator and activator dose with the correct combination blended ash.Keywords : geopolymer, fly ash, palm oil fuel ash, activator modulus, mix proportions

Abstract

Problem solving is the main focus in learning mathematics at the primary and secondary school level. Prospective teachers must be prepared as well as possible as problem solvers and problem solving instructors. The purpose of this study was to describe the prospective teacher's ability to make a problem solving question based on category of good mathematical problem solving questions. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative.The research subjects were students of semester VI of the 2019/2020 academic year of the IAIN Takengon Mathematics Education Study Program. Based on the research results, it shows that the subjects in general already understood the theory of problem solving , but this understanding did not always directly proportional to the ability to make a mathematical problem solving question.

Abstract

The decline in fossil fuel sources encourages research to find alternative fuels. One of the efforts currently being to find alternative energy sources that have high efficiency and environmental friendly is bio-oil from empty fruit bunches (EFB) and tire waste. This research aims to determine effect of temperature co-pyrolysis of EFB and tire waste on yield bio-oil and then characterize the physics at the highest yield. In this study, the ratio of EFB/tire (R) was 25/75 with an operating temperature of 400°C, 450°C, 500°C, 550°C and 600°C which supplied nitrogen gas of 200 ml/minute for 90 minutes. Bio-oil with highest yield obtained from a temperature of 500°C ie 44.3% with density, viscosity, calorific value, and degree of acidity (pH), respectively 0.994 g/ml, 1.53 cSt, 40.31 MJ/kg and pH 3.39. Abstract

Methanol is often called methyl alcohol with the chemical formula CH3OH. Methanol is commonly used for solvents, anti-freezing refrigerants, and fuels. Methanol is also an intermediate compound that is used as raw material for various industries including acetic acid, formaldehyde, MTBE, polyvinyl, polyester, and DME industries. The need for methanol in Indonesia continues to increase. The raw material used in this methanol plant design is natural gas. This methanol plant will operate for 330 days per year with a continuous work of 24 hours/day and a capacity of 200,000 tons/year which will be established in Dumai, Riau. The main equipment design in this plant is the Reactor Syntesis Methanol which functions to form methanol in the form of syntesis gas as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2) with the help of H2O. The Syntesis Methanol Reactor is operated at a pressure of 50 bar and a temperature of 250 ° C. The economic analysis on the design of this plant shows that the Methanol plant with the Lurgi Low Pressure process is feasible to be built with the profit after tax of Rp8,190,624,006,578 and the factory Payback Period (PBP) of 3.1 years.Keywords: Lurgi Low Pressure Process, Methanol, Natural Gas, Syntesis Gas, Syntesis Methanol Reactor

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran Children Learning In Science (CLIS) berbasis Concept Attainment terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis ditinjau dari gaya belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif jenis eksperimen, menggunakan metode quasy experimental design dengan penelitian factorial 2 x 3. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 60 peserta didik yang diambil dengan teknik acak kelas. Teknik dalam pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan angket gaya belajar peserta didik. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas dengan uji liliefors dan uji homogenitas dengan uji barlett. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji analisis variansi dua jalan sel tak sama. Menurut hasil penelitian dan pembahasan perhitungan uji analisi variansi dua jalan sel tak sama diperoleh ditolak dan diterima dan diterima. Berdasarkan kajian teori dan perhitungan dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran Children Learning In Science (CLIS) berbasis Concept Attainment terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. (2) tidak terdapat pengaruh gaya belajar terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. (3) tidak terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran Children Learning In Science (CLIS) berbasis Concept Attainment dengan gaya belajar terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Tahsin dan Tahfidz al-Qur’an harus dikelola dengan berkualitas dan bermutu, pembelajaran yang dimaksud lebih dari sekedar menyampaikan ilmu, akan tetapi juga memastikan keterserapan dan pemahaman siswa serta keterampilan dan motivasi siswa untuk mengamalkannya demi kemaslahatan umat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan upaya guru tahsin untuk meningkatkan kualitas tahsin dan tahfidz di SMP IT Cendekia Takengon. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Tehnik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah: Observasi, Wawancara dan Dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian Upaya yang dilakukan guru untuk meningkatkan kualitas tahsin dan tahfidz para siswa/i adalah dengan cara pengulangan bacaan perayat dan bimbingan secara klasikal, serta menugaskan para siswa/i untuk menghafal al-Qur’an di rumah dan menyetorkannya di sekolah. Dan tugas bagi para orang tua untuk mengulang/muraja’ah hafalan anaknya di rumah. Metode pelajaran yang digunakan guru untuk meningkatkan kualitas tahsin dan tahfidz ialah dengan menggunakan metode klasikal, yaitu penyampaian materi tahsin dengan menggunakan buku asyafi’i kepada para siswa/i. lalu guru menggunakan metode talaqqi untuk meningkatkan kualitas siswa/i dalam menghafal al-Qur’an. Faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam upaya guru meningkatkan kualitas tafsin dan tahfidz di SMP IT Cendikia Takengon dari faktor penghambat yaitu: a) Kurangnya tenaga pengajar, b) Waktu yang sedikit. Faktor pendukung yaitu: a) kerja sama dengan para orang tua, b) buku untuk penyampaian sudah tersedia.
