Abstract

This research aims to determine the potential for increasing revenue from waste retribution in Mojokerto City as a means of increasing PAD thus it can maximize the potential of the APBD for the benefit of regional social and economic development. This is qualitative research using a descriptive case study approach. The data used is primary and secondary data collected using interview or FGD, documentation, and questionnaire methods. Data analysis was carried out using Miles and Huberman, starting from data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Data shows that the total revenue from waste retributions is only able to cover 5% of the total waste management costs thus the remaining 95% of these costs are charged to the APBD. Strategies are needed so that the potential for retribution revenue can be increased. The potential calculation is carried out by increasing the rates of 2x and adding household retribution data. The results show that increasing retribution rates and adding household data can increase the percentage of costs that can be covered by up to 50%. So, it can be concluded that this strategy contributes to increasing PAD. The research results are expected to have a theoretical contribution to contribution theory related to research on strategies for increasing Regional Original Income (PAD). Apart from that, it is hoped that the results of this research will have a practical contribution to the Mojokerto City Government in developing strategies to increase waste levy revenues.

Abstract

The circular economy seeks to maximize resource utility while enhancing waste materials’ added value. Herbal beverages are derived from biopharmaceutical plants, commonly using ginger, cardamom, turmeric, aromatic ginger or lesser galangal, and curcuma. This study had two primary objectives: (1) to analyze the physicochemical characteristics of instant ginger, instant turmeric, and instant ginger beverages, and (2) to enhance the economic value of production waste by converting it into liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The research was conducted at the small and medium enterprise “AIG Bunda Nisa” in Semarang Regency, Indonesia. Physicochemical characteristics were assessed through proximate analysis, and the quality of the POC was evaluated based on the standards set by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (No.216/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019). The findings revealed that waste from the production of instant herbal drinks can be effectively repurposed as POC. The analysis showed that instant ginger beverages have higher ash and carbohydrate content than fresh ginger but lower total fat and protein content. Additionally, instant ginger beverages’ caloric value and carbohydrate content are higher than fresh ginger. Conversely, instant ginger’s protein content is lower than fresh ginger’s. In the case of turmeric, the ash, total fat, moisture, and protein content in fresh turmeric were lower than in instant turmeric beverages.

Abstract

Indonesia is rich in geological heritage, including the Gunung Sewu Geopark, a significant geotourism site. However, excessive tourism threatens its sustainability, highlighting the need for an effective geotourism development strategy. This study examines local economic development in Gunungkidul Regency, focusing on six dimensions: target groups, location factors, policy focus, sustainable development, governance, and management processes. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, the findings reveal that four dimensions are in excellent condition, while two are in good condition. Despite its commendable state, the geopark requires strategies prioritizing local economic development, as the local economy is key to sustainable geopark management. Addressing the leverage factors in each dimension can enhance the sustainability of Gunungkidul’s geotourism, ensuring long-term benefits for the community and the environment.
