Abstract

[English]: This study aimed to design and implement local games-based mathematics learning (das-dasan) to support students' mathematical strategic competence. It consisted of three stages, namely the identification and analysis of traditional game, the design of learning activities based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), and the implementation in the classroom which involved twenty 7th-grade students. Data about the local game was collected through observations and interviews with five residents where the game is originated. Data on students’ strategic competence was achieved through a test given to the students after learning. The analysis of test results refers to the indicators of mathematical strategic competence. The present study found that fifteen students are able to achieve all indicators (formulating, representing, and solving the problems) with high scores. Meanwhile, five students could only represent the problems but have not fulfilled the last two indicators. The findings of this study indicate that learning mathematics based on traditional the das-dasan games has a potential to help students develop mathematical strategic competence. Abstract

This study explores the concept of fractal geometry found in the Tian Ti Pagoda. Fractal geometry is a branch of mathematics describing the properties and shapes of various fractals. A qualitative method with an ethnographic approach is used in this study. Observation, field notes, interviews, documentation, and literature study obtained research data. The observation results were processed computationally using the Lindenmayer system method via the L-Studio application to view fractal shapes. The results show that the concept of fractal geometry is contained in the ornaments on the Tian Ti Pagoda. The length and angles of each part of the ornament influence the fractal shape of the Tian Ti Pagoda ornament. In addition, the length and angle modifications resulted in several variations of the Tian Ti Pagoda fractal. The findings from this study can be used as an alternative medium for learning mathematics lectures, especially in applied mathematics, dynamical systems, and computational geometry.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on Space Building Materials with a foundation in Penataran Temple to support student learning outcomes. The research also aimed to assess the validity of the LKPD and measure the improvement of student learning outcomes after using the LKPD. The research followed the development model proposed by Richey and Klein, consisting of three stages: planning, production, and evaluation. The planning stage included needs analysis, concept development, and LKPD development planning. An initial study was conducted to understand the challenges of teaching geometry to junior high school students, and strategies were designed to improve learning outcomes. Additionally, the planning stage involved observing Penataran Temple for concept development. The production stage involved creating and developing LKPD based on the concepts and objectives developed in the planning stage. LKPDs were developed with a focus on the concepts of Penataran Temple and Flat Side Spaces. The results of the pre-test and post-test analysis showed a significant increase in the average student score. The average pre-test score was 29.86, while the average post-test score was 64.93. The results also indicated an increase in the number of students who achieved the minimum passing score (KKM) in various schools with varying KKM standards. In a broader sense, the use of Penataran Temple-based flat-sided space building LKPD demonstrated a positive impact on students' understanding of space building and local culture, as well as improving their mathematical understanding and appreciation of culture.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are important for students to have because they can help solve problems more logically. Critical thinking skills are closely related to students' self-regulated learning. To hone critical thinking skills, you can do story problems on set material. The story questions presented in this research are based on the masked puppet art of Malang Regency. This research aims to describe the critical thinking abilities of students who have high, medium and low levels of self-regulated learning in solving set questions based on the wayang mask art of Malang Regency. The approach used is qualitative with a descriptive type. Data collection techniques include questionnaires, tests and interviews. This research was carried out by selecting 3 subjects representing 1 student each from the high, medium and low self-regulated learning categories. The selection of 3 subjects was carried out based on the percentage results obtained from the questionnaire scores which had been distributed to 22 students of Annuriyah Islamic Middle School, Malang City. The results of this study show that there are differences between students with high, medium and low levels of self-regulated learning. Students with high levels of self-regulated learning have excellent critical thinking skills, because students have excellent analytical sharpness and thoroughness. Students with moderate self-regulated learning have poor critical thinking skills, because students are less sharp in carrying out analysis, so this results in a lack of accuracy and results in inaccurate final results. Students with low self-regulated learning have very poor critical thinking skills, because they are still not very sharp in recognizing, so this results in inaccuracy and produces inaccurate final results.

Abstract

Students' interest in learning mathematics in Indonesia still needs to be improved. Efforts can be made by providing creative learning in the classroom, one of which is by linking mathematics and culture, known as ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics can be used as a learning innovation to motivate students to learn mathematics. Therefore, this study aims to explore the concept of mathematics in one of the traditional game cultures still developing in Malang, East Java, namely Gaple. Gaple cards can be used as a media for learning mathematics in set material linked through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, which describes the results of the ethnomathematics exploration of the Gaple card game. Data collection uses observation, interviews, literature review, and photo documentation to explore ethnomathematics elements on gaple game cards. Exploration results were obtained by observing the number of points on each gaple card, namely the concept of universal sets, intersections, unions, and complements. These results are then packaged in a table of learning activities by implementing the three stages of the RME approach.
