Abstract

Introduction: University X is one of the institutions where tobacco-free areas are required in a university setting where teaching and learning activities are highly regulated. However, the implementation of tobacco-free was only implemented in a few faculties, and, the whole academic community of University X has not entirely complied with the regulation. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Tobacco-Free Areas at University X.Methods: This study used a qualitative research method to examine the implementation of smoke-free areas at University X. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and other supporting documentation. There were 13 research informants, including Deans/Vice Deans from four faculties, the Academic Director of Student Affairs, alumni, lecturers, and students of University X. This study examined communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic organization policies. Results: This study found that university administrators never communicated directly or indirectly regarding Tobacco-Free Areas regulation. It is still neither excellent nor adequate, based on the resources available for human resource compliance and infrastructure availability. In terms of disposition, numerous parties fully support the execution of the smoke-free policy. However, the implementing officers/supervisors of the smoke-free areas at University X were less steadfast. This is demonstrated by the absence of a bureaucratic framework at University X in implementing and supervising Tobacco-Free compliances. Conclusion: Tobacco-free areas had been implemented at University X although they were not yet complete and optimal. It is possible to infer that this was not a priority at University X because conflicts of interest might hamper this regulation, resulting in lacking clarity, and sustainability.

Abstract

One of the main patient safety goals is the prevention of nosocomial infections. Nurses have quite a big influence on the occurrence of nosocomial infections because their interaction with patients for 24 hours. An effective prevention effort that can be carried out by nurses is implementing standard hand hygiene. However, the incidence of nosocomial infections is observed to be high and many hand hygiene measures are still not carried out by nurses. This systematic review will provide an overview of the level of nurse compliance with the implementation of hand hygiene in hospitals in Indonesia as well as discussing the factors that can influence it. Search for articles using the Google Scholar database according to PRISMA, along 2019-2023 with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The final results in the form of 16 included articles and descriptive analysis show that the implementation of hand hygiene in several hospitals is not up to standard. Several factors influence the level of hand hygiene compliance among nurses, including attitude, knowledge, motivation, supervision, facilities, length of work, self-ability and workload. Among these factors, attitude shows the most promising influence on the level of hand hygiene compliance but this does not rule out the possibility of developing other factors in further research. Therefore, nurses compliance with the implementation of hand hygiene in hospitals in Indonesia still needs to be improved through improving the factors that influence it.

Abstract

To prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic, the government establishes a policy of new normal adaptation by implementing health protocols in daily life. However, the community should be active in implementing new normal adaptation. Forum Kesehatan Kelurahan (FKK) as a forum for community participation in the health sector has an important role in the success of supporting health programs at the village level. Based on research studies, the application of new normal adaptation in Tembalang District by the community hasn’t been optimal. Therefore, the role of FKK in Tembalang District has to adapt new normal from the family. The ability and knowledge of FKK cadres regarding adaptation of new normal must be good in order to have sufficient capacity to support new normal families in Tembalang District. In this case, the capacity building of the FKK carried out through activities to 38 FKK cadres representing each sub-district in Tembalang District. Counseling done by doing pre-test, presenting materials, discussions with participants, and ended by post-test. The results of discussion, the community had made efforts to support the implementation of the new normal, there are education, field operations, reporting of COVID-19 cases, and jogo tonggo. Challenges for FKK are community’s lack awareness of COVID-19 pandemic and health protocols impportance. Post-test result showed increasing number of cadre with good knowledge about New Normal. In this activity, participants were also given a booklet. The capacity of FKK cadres to mobilize community will be stronger that hopefully can contribute more efforts to support the adaptation of new normal in the family and be able to solve challenges well.

Abstract

Type C "X" Specialized Hospital in Semarang experienced in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryology laboratory consumable medical supplies (CMS) stockouts in early 2023, delaying medical care. Minimum-maximum stock level (MMSL) is an alternative pharmaceutical inventory procurement method. Compared to the conventional method, this study examined how well the MMSL method controls IVF medications and embryology laboratory CMS at Hospital “X” Department of Pharmacy. This study is a quantitative, secondary data-based, quasi-experimental, non-equivalent study without a control group. The study sampled all IVF medications and embryology laboratory CMS data from October to December 2023 at Hospital “X” with consistent supply. MMSL was implemented prospectively in January – March 2024. Twelve (12) IVF medications and fifty-six (56) embryology laboratory CMS were studied. Efficiency analysis included inventory value, inventory turnover ratio (ITOR), and stockout value; effectiveness analysis included stockout incidences. Statistics were tested using Wilcoxon signed-rank and McNemar tests. MMSL implementation led to increased inventory value of IVF medications (from IDR21,514,537.00 to IDR49,635,116.00, p=0.040, p<0.05), decreased inventory value of embryology laboratory CMS (from IDR117,421,582.00 to IDR105,318,804.00, p=0.005, p<0.05), and increased ITOR of embryology laboratory CMS (from 0.82 to 0.84 times, p=0.040, p<0.05). MMSL significantly improved IVF medications and embryology laboratory CMS inventory management efficiency.

Abstract

Having premarital sexual intercourse has a broad risk impact on health. This is in accordance with the teachings of Islam that should be upheld by all Muslims, with no exception for students living in Islamic boarding schools. To Islamic values and culture, students should have strong self-efficacy to prevent them from engaging in sexual behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on the sexual behavior of students living in Islamic boarding schools. This cross-sectional study sampled 150 students who lived in Islamic boarding school in Semarang, Indonesia. Students at Islamic boarding schools who had premarital sex were more likely to be found in adolescents aged 19 years (15.2%), male (9.5%), had low self-efficacy (18.2%), and ever accessed pornography (23.1%). Accessing pornography was influenced by sex (p = 0.021, OR = 0.235), while premarital sexual intercourse behavior was influenced by age (p = 0.013, OR = 10.716) and self-efficacy (p = 0.043, OR = 4.602). Younger students with low self-efficacy are more likely to practice premarital sexual intercourse. This study found that accessing pornography had no effect on the practice of sex carried out by students in Islamic boarding schools. The health ministry needs to work with the religious affairs ministry to design programs aimed at increasing self-efficacy among students in Islamic boarding schools.
