Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of concrete learning media in mathematics learning at the elementary school level based on selected journal publications through a bibliometric approach using Scopus and Google Scholar databases published between 2019 and 2024. A total of 1,033 articles were initially identified during the search process, which were then filtered using inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 54 relevant articles consisting of 53 from Google Scholar and 1 from Scopus. This research employed a literature review method with bibliometric analysis stages, including the identification of research trends, publication frequency, dominant keywords, and thematic developments related to concrete learning media in mathematics instruction. The findings indicate that the use of concrete media not only enhances students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics, but also contributes to increased learning motivation, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Moreover, concrete media are considered effective in creating a more interactive and meaningful learning environment for elementary school students. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for researchers and education practitioners interested in examining research trends concerning the use of concrete learning media in mathematics education and to provide direction for future research.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the utilization of the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) among Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers in Semarang City and to identify factors influencing its adoption. A mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design was employed, combining a quantitative survey of 100 teachers and qualitative interviews with 10 selected participants. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and regression analyses, while qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis to explore teachers’ experiences in depth. The results showed that PMM utilization was at a moderate-high level, with teachers primarily using the platform for accessing teaching resources and curriculum development. Regression analysis indicated that digital literacy (β = 0.45, p < 0.001) and infrastructure support (β = 0.32, p = 0.003) significantly influenced PMM utilization, explaining 52% of the variance. Qualitative findings revealed three dominant themes: empowerment through PMM, barriers to optimal use, and the need for continuous institutional support. The study concludes that effective PMM adoption requires not only technological readiness but also sustained digital mentoring and institutional facilitation. These findings contribute to strengthening teacher professionalism and digital competence within the framework of Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

This study examines the development of a character education curriculum at Yayasan Paulus Makassar, grounded in the core Paulinity values: Excellence (Unggul), Creativity (Kreatif), Love (Kasih), and Mission (Misioner). Using a research and development approach, it follows Hilda Taba’s model: diagnosis of needs, formulation of objectives, selection of content, selection of learning experiences, organization of learning experiences, and evaluation. Data were collected through observations and in-depth interviews with teachers, students, and members of the curriculum team. The study's results identified that the main basis of curriculum development is the Catholic Church's universal values and the intention to develop students’ characters in line with the Merdeka curriculum policy. Moreover, the voices of the members of the educational community become the primary consideration in curriculum development. This study offers insight into curriculum design processes and emphasizes the importance of Indonesia’s national curriculum in addressing character development alongside scientific challenges.
