Abstract

This study aim to describe the student’s mathematics anxiety on the use of technology in mathematics learning. It is a quantitative descriptive research by involving second year students of Mathematics Education Program  in Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) who took Technology-based Mathematics Learning course. They were selected based on saturation sampling. Data were collected through questionnaire, in-depth interview and documentation. The results show the high level of each dimension of mathematics anxiety among students. The average score in each indicator of cognitive, affective, and physiological dimension were high. In addition, interview revealed that most of the students expressed their anxiety in the first lecture and when obtained the task of applying particular software in mathematics learning. It is mainly due to unpreparedness and lack of knowledge about the application of software. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the level of students’ mathematics anxiety is relatively high.  Keywords: Mathematics anxiety, Technology-based, Mathematics learning,

Abstract

This research aims to look at research trends on the topic of problem solving abilities in mathematics education. This research used 204 documents searched in the Scopus database, with the analysis technique used, namely bibliometric analysis using RStudio and Vosviewer. From the results that have been analyzed, it can be concluded that this research started from 1976 to 2023, with an increase of 6.69% every year. The most productive affiliates are Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Monash University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Semarang State University. Journal of Mathematical Behavior and ZDM - International Journal on Mathematics Education were ranked highest h-index. Hegarty & Kozhevnikov (1999) discussing types of visual-spatial representation and their relationship to solving mathematical problems, with the highest total citations. STEM, Programming, Mathematics Curriculum, and Computational Thinking being the recommended keywords to use if you want to conduct research on the topic of problem solving abilities in mathematics education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan pembelajaran cooperative learning (type student team achiement division dan type think-pair-share) dan keefektifan pembelajaran coope-rative learning type student team achiement division dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran cooperative lerning type think-pair-share ditinjau dari aspek ketercapaian standar kompetensi, kemampuan komunikasi matematika, dan berpikir matematis siswa SMP. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan pretest-posttest nonequivalent group design. Populasi dan sampelnya adalah siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Yogyakarta dan siswa Kelas VIII A dan VIII B.Untuk menguji keefektifan metode (type student team achiement division dan type think-pair-share), data dianalisis menggunakan uji one sample t-test. Untuk menguji bahwa metode type student team achiement division lebih efektif daripada metode think-pair-share, data dianalisis menggunakan MANOVA yang dilanjutkan dengan uji t-Benferroni. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode pembelajaran (type student team achiement division dan type think-pair-share) efektif dan metode type student team achiement division lebih efektif daripada metode type think-pair-shareditinjau dari aspek ketercapaian standar kompetensi, kemampuan komunikasi matematika, dan berpikir matematis siswa SMP.Kata kunci: Pembelajaran Cooperative Learning Type STAD, Cooperative Learning Type TPS, Ketercapaian Standar Kompetensi, Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematika, Berpikir matematis

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is the ability to formulate, apply, and interpret everyday problems. The Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) program in Indonesia is designed to evaluate these essential skills, similar to the PISA framework. Assessing mathematical literacy through the AKM ensures that students meet basic competency standards, helping to improve overall educational quality and better preparing students for global competition. This research reveals the characteristics of students' mathematical literacy when solving AKM problems. The study was conducted at a junior high school in Surakarta, Indonesia. The research stages included giving AKM problems, observing students' problem-solving processes through think-aloud methods, conducting interviews for confirmation, reducing data, coding data, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. The data used included students' answers, observation sheets, and interview transcripts. When formulating problems, students often struggle to accurately understand the issues at hand. This leads to incomplete data during the problem-solving process, resulting in calculation errors or mistakes in applying formulas. These errors create a domino effect, leading to incorrect answers. Students' difficulties in formulating mathematical problems can potentially cause calculation errors and improper use of formulas, ultimately leading to incorrect solutions. This negatively impacts their conceptual understanding, learning motivation, and readiness to face educational challenges or enter the workforce. To address these difficulties, teachers can enhance students' conceptual understanding, promote critical thinking, implement problem-based learning, use visual aids, provide targeted support, and focus on developing mathematical literacy from an early age.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to assess the effect of guided inquiry learning polas on the mathematical critical thinking abilities of students in phase E at SMK Negeri 3 Pekanbaru. The research employs a Bukanequivalent Control Group Design, focusing on the population of phase E students at the institution. A random sampling method was utilized to select two classes, with class X BP 1 designated as the experimental group and class X BP 2 as the control group. The assessment tools consisted of sebelum tes and sesudah tes essay questions designed to measure critical thinking skills. Hypothesis testing was conducted using a bukan-parametric data analysis technique for comparing two averages, specifically the Mann-Whitney U test. The results of the hypothesis test indicated a significance value of Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) at 0.014, which is less than the threshold of 0.05 (0.014 < 0.05). Consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted, leading to the conclusion that guided inquiry learning polas significantly influence students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh alat peraga Papan Diagram terhadap prestasi belajar peserta didik SD Negeri 158 Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (Quasi Experiment) dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VI SD Negeri 158 Pekanbaru tahun pelajaran 2024/2025. Sampel dari penelitian ini yaitu kelas VI.A sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VI.B sebagai kelas eksperimen, dengan jumlah peserta didik kelas kontrol sebanyak 36 peserta didik dan kelas eksperimen sebanyak 38 peserta didik. Instrumen pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar Pretest  dan Posttest. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. . Nilai asymp.sig (2-tailed) merupakan indikasi normalitas data yang dibandingkan dengan ¬α=0,05. Apabila nilai Asymp.sig. (2-tailed) <α=0,05 maka data tersebut berdistribusi normal sedangkan apabila nilai Asymp.sig. (2-tailed) >α=0,05 maka data tersebut berdistribusi normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa uji Mann-Whitney U untuk data tidak berdistribusi normal dapat diperoleh nilai Asymp.Sig. untuk Posttest kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol lebih kecil dari 0,05 (0,048 < 0,05). Hal ini berarti  H0 ditolak, H1  diterima, sehingga terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara rata-rata prestasi belajar peserta didik kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dilihat dari skor posstest diketahui peserta didik yang menggunakan alat peraga lebih tinggi dibandingkan menggunakan model konvensional, kemudian kenaikan rata-rata prestasi belajar di kelas eksperimen adalah 38,1 sedangkan kenaikan rata-rata prestasi belajar di kelas kontrol adalah 33,89. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh alat peraga Papan Diagram (PADI) terhadap prestasi belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether Quiziz media has an impact on sixth-grade elementary school pupils' interest in learning. This study uses an experimental pretest-posttest one-group design. The population in this research consists of all sixth-grade students at SD Kartika 1-9 Pekanbaru, totalling 21 students. The sampling technique is saturation sampling, where the entire population is used as the sample. An interest questionnaire with 20 questions determines students' learning interests. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis are the methods of data analysis that are employed. According to the findings of the descriptive study, the average score on the pretests was 58.19 before the use of Quizizz-assisted media (pretest) and had risen to 66.05. In the meantime, a Sig(2-tailed) value of 0.002 was derived based on the results of inferential analysis, where the value was less than 0.05 (0.002 < 0.05). Consequently, it might be said that "Hypothesis Accepted" or that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Therefore, it may be concluded that a factor influences the rise in learning interest among sixth-grade elementary school pupils.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa SMP YLPI P. Marpoyan melalui pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Pendekatan ini dipilih karena dinilai mampu menghubungkan konsep matematika dengan situasi nyata, sehingga dapat memperkuat pemahaman konsep secara menyeluruh serta mendorong siswa untuk berpikir secara kreatif dan inovatif. Melalui pendekatan ini, siswa diajak untuk lebih aktif dalam menemukan solusi, menjelaskan pemikirannya, dan mengembangkan ide-ide yang bervariasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Subjek terdiri atas dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan RME dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal pretest dan posttest berdasarkan empat indikator berpikir kreatif: kelancaran, keaslian, keluwesan, dan kerincian. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji normalitas dan uji Mann-Whitney U untuk mengetahui perbedaan signifikan antar kelompok. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata posttest dan skor n-gain kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Hasil analisis hipotesis penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan RME secara signifikan lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis dibandingkan pendekatan konvensional (p = 0,0015 < 0,05). Dengan demikian, pendekatan RME memberikan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan pendekatan konvensional.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe students’ mathematical communication in terms of student’s learning interests based on the SOLO Taxonomy level. The research method is a descriptive qualitative study conducted at SMPN 35 Pekanbaru grades VIII. The subject of this research is 8 students in grades VIII with high and medium learning interests. The research instruments used are a learning interest questionnaire and a mathematical communication test. The analysis consists of three stages: data condensation, displaying data, and drawing the conclusion. The research concludes there is no significant difference in students’ mathematical communication levels between medium and high learning interest students. Students with medium and high learning interests are on the multi-structural level. However, students with high learning interests put more effort into solving mathematics problems than students with medium learning interests. Therefore, efforts are needed, such as using the interactive learning model and media which increase the student’s learning interest to develop students’ mathematical communication ability.
