Abstract

Dengen (Dillenia serrata Thumb.) merupakan tumbuhan endemik yang tumbuh liar di Sulawesi. Buahnya memiliki beberapa manfaat salah satunya sebagai obat sariawan karena memiliki kadar vitamin C tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi dan menentukan nilai parameter spesifik dan non spesifik ekstrak buah dengen (Dillenia serrata Thumb.). Sampel diperoleh dari Kecamatan Malili, Kabupaten Luwu Timur Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, dimaserasi dengan etanol 96% sebanyak 3 L kemudian dilakukan pengujian parameter spesifik dan non spesifik. Penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak buah dengen (Dillenia serrata Thumb.) memberikan hasil sesuai parameter standar umum ekstrak tumbuhan obat dengan nilai parameter spesifik sebagai berikut: ekstrak berbentuk kental, berwarna coklat pekat kehitaman, berbau khas; kadar senyawa larut dalam air yakni 16,0384%; kadar senyawa larut dalam etanol yakni 16,9811%; positif mengandung senyawa alkaloid, polifenol, flavanoid, terpenoid dan saponin; dan nilai parameter non spesifik sebagai berikut: susut pengeringan yakni 0,0615%; kadar air yakni 3,8052%; kadar abu total yakni 5,0599%, kadar abu tidak larut dalam asam yakni 0,4807%.

Abstract

Jamu pelangsing merupakan ramuan bahan alam yang diracik dengan sedemikian rupa sehingga dapat membantu manusia dalam menjaga dan menurunkan berat badan. Adanya Bahan Kimia Obat (BKO) yang ditambahkan dalam jamu pelangsing dapat memberikan efek samping yang berbahaya bagi konsumen. Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) adalah salah metode pemisahan fisikokimia. Lapisan yang memisahkan yang terdiri atas bahan berbutir-butir (fase diam) ditempatkan pada penyangga berupa plat gelas atau logam. Campuran yang akan dipisahkan berupa larutan, ditotolkan berupa bercak. Kemudian plat dimasukan dalam bejana tertutup rapat yang berisi larutan pengembang yang cocok (fase gerak). Tujuan review artikel ini untuk mengetahui dan merangkum BKO apa saja yang terdapat pada jamu pelangsing dan penyebarannya. Penulis melakukan studi literatur melalui database elektronik seperti Portal Garuda, google scholar, PubMed, dll. Studi literatur dilakukan terhadap beberapa jurnal penelitian nasional dan internasional yang dipublikasi dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir. Pada jamu pelangsing, Bahan Kimia Obat (BKO) yang mungkin ditambahkan di antaranya adalah furosemid, sibutramin HCl, amphetamine, bumetanide, ephedra, orlistat, rimonabant, bisakodil dan fenoftalein.

Abstract

This study systematically reviews the bioactivity, phytochemistry, and dermatological potential of Carthamus tinctorius L. using a structured synthesis of nine eligible research articles. The purpose of this review is to consolidate scientific evidence regarding the antioxidant activity, phytochemical composition, molecular mechanisms, and skin-related relevance of this plant across diverse study designs. The findings indicate that Carthamus tinctorius contains polysaccharides, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and fatty acids that exhibit strong antioxidant activity, enzyme inhibition, and cellular protective effects. Several studies demonstrate its ability to modulate oxidative pathways, inhibit collagen-degrading enzymes, and support skin barrier integrity, highlighting its promising dermatological applications. Variations in bioactivity were influenced by genotype, environmental conditions, and extraction techniques, underscoring the importance of plant origin and processing methods. Overall, the review concludes that Carthamus tinctorius possesses significant potential as a natural source of therapeutic compounds relevant to skin health, anti-aging applications, and future product development. This synthesis also identifies methodological gaps that may guide further experimental, molecular, and formulation-based research.

Abstract

Kasumba turate flower and Secang lignum have been commonly known as traditional medicinal widely grown in South Sulawesi. Both contain active constituents, including coloring agents such as carthamin in Kasumba turate and brazillin in Secang. These plants have been commonly used in traditional medicine to treat conditions such as high cholesterol, bacterial and viral infections, gout, and as antioxidants. Gout and high cholesterol are closely related. The combination of Kasumba turate and Secang extracts was intended to enhance activity. The evaluation of the xanthine oxidase inhibitor (XOD) and antioxidant activity (AO) was performed using the reducing uric acid and antioxidant FRAP methods. The XOD inhibitory study found that the extracts have activities as follow Sample A, B, C, and Allopurinol of 1.40; 2.1967; 2.24; and 1.39 μg/mL, respectively. The antioxidant capacity of Kasumba turate, Secang extract and their combination was 122.88; 17.36; and 197.31 μg/mL, respectively. We concluded that the combination did not increase the XOD inhibitory and antioxidant capacity. The Kasumba turate extract has the highest activity among the tested extracts.
